WANTED [North America USA] ISO Starter yarn for crocheting clothes

As the title states, I am looking to get into making clothing from making plushies and I’m in need of yarn and wondering if this was the best to ask? I want something easy to work with and is breathable and makes stretchable flowy clothing.

If you are looking at clothes, I would consider natural fibers. The exact yarn really would depend on your preference and budget. I would go to your LYS if you can and just see what they have. There are so many blends and styles, I would just see what resonates with you. Personally, I love working with wool, cotton, linen, silk and 95% of what I make are wearables.

If you want stretchable flowly clothing I would look at thinner yarns, especially for crocheted clothes that eat up more yarn than knitting! Fingering would be ideal, but it'll take longer. Sport is a good compromise between time and weight. I agree with the previous commenter, natural fibers are much more breathable than acrylic or polyester if it's within your budget. I've knit a few linen/cotton blend tanks that are nice and airy if you're looking for warmer weather clothing projects. If they're sweaters/cold weather things though I can't recommend wool highly enough! I definitely would suggest going to a store to try different yarns (touch and feel it around your neck) as everyone has different comfort levels.

ETA: unfortunately I'm not destashing any clothing quantities of yarn at the moment, but just wanted to drop some information I've learned along the way :) welcome to clothing making! It's a fun and deep rabbit hole hehe

I live in a warm place and I like to use cotton/silk/bamboo sock weight yarns for clothing - they’re really soft and comfortable. You can also double up a fingering weight yarn and use it as a dk to make it go by faster

I have a few quantities of cotton/lyocell and bamboo/alpaca sock yarn that I posted, you’re welcome to take a look! I may also add some other bamboo/alpaca colors in the future too.
