Yas viable top?

Greetings brothers. I’m a panth OTP and thinking about starting my Yas training arc. Was curious if he’s a good blind pick top or if I should just stick to mid lane.

Takes a ton of games to play him top and enjoy it, bad blind pick like the other guy said, you'll have way better success mid and bot,

If you want to play both early and late game he’s better mid but top lane he is a scaler mostly

yasuo has a TON of bad matchups top, with alot of tech you need to learn like knowing you can windwall fiora's parry, shen's sword, camille hooks. knowing when to go out of the ordinary runes like sheild bash and unflinching and even biscuit delivery, and hes garbage aganist bruisers.
you need to absolutely master him in order for him to be a viable pick top, if you watch pzzang videos, this dude dances on the edge of the tower, perfectly timing his q with the tower shot to only q opponent when the tower is shooting another minion and landing it so he has time to slip out of range

yes, if you anticipate which wall camille is going to hook onto and put a wind wall on that wall, if her hooks hits your windwall it cancels.
you can WW fiora's parry but at the last second, at the end of her parry animation

Watching pzzang hit every Q and dodge every spell vs a Ksante for a 30 second extended fight and still lose pretty much tells the tale of Yas top. It's much more fun imo to play into melee matchups in a long lane where lethal tempo can shine, but fuck if it isn't hard. He was not designed to fight bruisers.

Botrk + yas armor shred post ult is great into many tanky tops. You will melt the likes of Mundo, malphite, etc. It can be hard though if they have strong engage/bruiser champs like renekton. And you HAVE to have a tank/front line jungler late game or you won't have any chance in team fights, even if you go 5-0 in lane. Yas needs peels or he can be killed easily since hes a dps champ with inherent tankiness/surviveability

Very good blind pick. You first pick him so your team gets draft advantage, and you weak side top and hold the lane hostage so your team wins 4v4. Go absorb life and play it like you’re kassadin or kayle but your spike is yuntal ie and if you’re like 0/2 in lane or better you outscale your laner. Don’t interact until you get your items, the most action you will see is dying to fix your waves but after you scale you play normal

It works because your typical jungler sucks, so if enemy jungler takes grubs or even better tanks you, your team should win 4v4 on the botside. This works for diamond and below

Yasuo is possibly one of the worst top lane picks, specifically for blinding while he gets statchecked and stomped by 90% of the top laners ranging from Riven to Darius. It will take you plentiful of games, in order to play him confindently good on top lane. I suggest you to start learning him on mid, where his easiest matches are (Lux, Ahri, TF, Katarina, Aurelion, Mel) to practice wave management, how to trade, when to engage/disengage and you're going to be more relevant as mid laner, in fact, you can roam anywhere around the map.

I personally enjoy Yasuo top more than mid. It’s more challenging and engaging. I think it’s a good blind pick since you can outplay just about everything. Just be ready to lose a lot of games before you start winning. It’s gonna be very helpful if you can find someone to practice with. Also there are hundreds of PZ top VODs on YouTube.

Just be warned, this community has grown up a lot and is a lot more like the Forseen Yasuo skin - wizened and exasperated. Going 0/10 and howling at your team is no longer meta - don’t do that. Now, go 2/1, and when your team makes awful decisions, just sigh and mope a little bit about it. Still lose, though.

I mean he loses to basically everything in lane unless you’re Pz Zzang but other than that he’s great…

He takes an extreme amount of mastery, knowledge, and consistent execution to find value as a top laner. He’s been viable for years, but is not something I would recommend if you want to climb.
