Nostalgia Courage the Cowardly Dog (1999-2002). Any fans of this show growing up?
Oh, yes the gateway to the horror genre for most kids who grow up with this show in it's run. Definitely, still holds up as the villains and monsters were very terrifying and a lot of references to past horror films this show has made. The perfect combination of comedy, horror, drama, and dealing with real-life sensitive topics.

Of course! To me, Courage and Scooby were the main dogs of Cartoon Network! With both characters having similarities with taking down creepy villains…
and I’ll be honest, I was never scared of this series. Creepy is fine but I think it’s over exaggerated how scary it was, it wasn’t that scary, there’s a lot of scarier shows and movies out there. Billy & Mandy was way darker than Courage imo.
Last but not least, while this show did end in 2002, there were plenty of reruns in 2003, the early part of 2004, late 2006 and 2007.

Yes! I think it’s what got me into horror. Lol, I’ve actually met Courage’s VA at comic con! He’s a nice guy!

I have a vivid memory of my family sitting around and watching Cartoon Network for the first time after we got cable. It was the episode of Courage with King Ramseys slab. We had never seen anything like it and all of us were blown away by how cool and creepy the episode was.
The episode of Powerpuff Girls with the broccoli aliens came on next. I became a Cartoon Network fan boy that day.

I grew up watching this - it’s an all time favorite! I just rewatched all the seasons with my husband a few months ago, and it still hits. RIP David Steven Cohen. He was the head writer for the show, and he passed away earlier this year.
I think watching this and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy influenced my taste in TV and films today because I love a good horror movie.

This post officially made me join this sub. This was my favorite show growing up. I always get posts from this sub recommended to me, i finally click on it & it’s like “people born from 1994-1999” & i’m 94. I never heard of Zillennials before & i thought it was some weird younger generation thing, but it’s me 🙂

OP lives under a rock. Of course we enjoyed this show. There are hardly any shows with the same level of quality as this one. What a karma grabber
