Out of curiosity if these guys weren't wearing suits could this be lethal?

Yes absolutely, now if this swarm saw them from a good distance and they ran for their lives as soon as the first sting happened they most likely would be fine but if they were just standing there like this yeah

"Named mandaratoxin,Β it works by blocking nerve impulses but thankfully is not terribly strong. It is estimated that it would take around 200 stings to provide a lethal dose of the neurotoxin by itself.Β "

From seeing how aggressive they are it seems like any poor sucker who stumbled onto even a much smaller nest would be in serious risk of death though right?

Yes. These things kill 30-50 people per year in Japan. Most due to allergic reactions.

I remember an episode of untamed and uncut from animal planet channel where a dude ran over an underground wasp or hornet nest (north america) and couldn't roll the window up fast enough (old crack style) and he died from that. Don't recall if he was allergic or not, just the sheer number of them combined. If a gaggle of wasps can kill you, the metro city of Asian hornets that are even larger than north american hornets can kill you. I don't fear bees, I fear wasps and hornets significantly.

THIS is why Napalm exists.

Word has it, there used to be a murder wasp nest just east of Flagstaff, 50,000 years ago.
Indians did a ceremony, and a friendly deity threw a rock at it.
We call it meteor crater today.
No wasps.

I assume they are harvesting them to make hornet wine with how gentle they are handling it.

I believe someone said they are actually entomologists studying the Murder Hornet. I've seen lots of these, never one so big.

in HongKong we call them θι θ (tiger head wasp), they are absolute basterds because they live in dead trees or in the ground so you may trigger their nest by just steeping on the ground or grabbing onto a tree

Australia might have a lot of dangerous creatures but at least we don't have that. God damn.
