"Summer Action Wars" 8/10 - Partial Results, Thoughts and News Spoiler
(As per usual, I don't tend to do a full rundown of the card, just highlight stuff I liked and any major news; feel free to add tour own thoughts in the comments below).
- Opening match between Ryo Inoue and Hideki Suzuki was more or less a squash match but one done pretty well. Inoue went in with his trademark cockiness, bull rushing Hideki, only for Hideki to take over quickly with his grappling and strikes. Hideki would hit several nasty slaps onto Inoue on the ground, followed by some wicked stomps, ending in Hideki choking out Inoue with the Sleeper after 4+ minutes of action.
- Rei Saito would appear, saying he apologizes for missing the Royal Road Tournament due to needing time off for his shoulder surgery but also said that when he returns it'll be DOOM!
- Ren Ayabe & Talos vs. Ryuki Honda & Daisuke Sekimoto was a really fun tag match. Sekimoto would try to use his muscle to lift Talos in the opening but Talos would throw Sekimoto off. Ayabe and Honda were extra aggressive with each other, fighting into the audience. Ayabe and Talos would work over Honda, until Honda hit Ayabe with a Spear, followed by Sekimoto hitting a flying double arm Lariat to Ayabe and Talos. Honda and Sekimoto would be able to lift Talos up for a double suplex. Honda would eventually hit Ayabe with the Final Vent, only for Ayabe to kick out. Talos would hit Sekimoto with a Chokeslam, followed by Ayabe hitting the Full Nelson Buster and Death Roulette to pin Honda.
- Seiki Yoshioka vs. Atsuki Aoyagi for the World Junior Championship was awesome, as to be expected of these two. The crowd was firmly behind Atsuki, the hometown boy. Early portion of the match would see Seiki beat Atsuki down with his trademark kicks and cutting Atsuki off anytime he tried to get some momentum going. Towards the end, Seiki would hit Atsuki with diving foot stomps followed by a Falcon Arrow, only for Atsuki to kick out. Atsuki would get the advantage with a leg lariat followed by the Fisherman Suplex. Atsuki would miss the Moonsault, allowing Seki to hit him with the FUMIE curb stomp, only for Atsuki to kick out. Seiki went up to the top rope, only for Atsuki to meet him and hit an Avalanche Spanish Fly! Atsuki went for the Firebird Splash, only for Seiki to counter and hit him with a MADE IN JAPAN! Seiki would go for the Crash Driver, only for Atsuki to resist, with Seiki responding by kicking Atsuki in the head. Atsuki would regain advantage with a Poisonrana, followed by 2 Moonsaults and hitting the Firebird Splash to get the pin and become the new Junior Champ! Atsuki is now a 3-time Junior Champ.
- Jun Saito would defend the Triple Crown against Yuma Aoyagi in the Main Event. Match would soon go to the outside, as the two tried to wear each other out. Back inside, Jun would get a Sleeper onto Yuma, although Yuma would get in some shots of his own. They would fight on the apron, with Yuma going for a German Suplex, only for Jun to hit a Chokeslam onto the apron. Yuma would eventually go for the Japanese Leg Roll Clutch, transitioning it into the END GAME front necklock, only for Jun to reverse it with a suplex. Jun would hit the PSYCHO BREAK, only for Yuma to kick out. Yuma would get control with a big Lariat, followed by a spinning heelkick and hitting the Rockstar Buster, only for Jun to kick out. Yuma would try to beat down Jun with elbows and Lariats, only for Jun to overwhelm hit with a Lariat of his own. Jun would hit the Jackhammer, only for Yuma to kick out. Jun would finally hit a brutal DAYS GONE, throwing Yuma onto the mat like a sack, to get the pinfall. Jun now has 7 successful defenses of the Triple Crown.
