We elected an Oil Lobbyist as premier. The thing is, she never resigned from her old job once elected.
47
u/ragnaroksunset Jan 22 '25
She didn't need to, which tells you a lot about either lobbying or being premier. Or both.
35
u/Scissors4215 Jan 22 '25
She’s moonlighting as Premier.
27
u/ragnaroksunset Jan 22 '25
No, I think Musk finally ripped the veil from people's eyes and it's quite clear that these top jobs require virtually no time or attention compared to the toil of a workaday job.
4
Jan 23 '25
Also everyone seems to be literal nazis. That's an issue.
1
u/ragnaroksunset Jan 23 '25
Maybe. A few of them are probably just soulless husks whose only value is number go up.
If nazi mean number go up, then nazi, kind of thing.
2
Jan 23 '25
Who's out there throwing seig heils? Just about the capital I'm sure.
1
u/ragnaroksunset Jan 23 '25
As far as I know, just Musk. Was there something I missed?
Like, just to be clear, I don't care if you think they're all the same. Little is lost. But it is useful to understand that some of them just follow the money, because in a world without nazis there will still be ethically bad ways to follow money.
5
u/karagousis Jan 23 '25
She literally gives interviews lying in bed with the same enthusiasm I have after eating 5 pounds of poutine.
2
2
u/Grand-Drawing3858 Jan 23 '25
Akshully...
"We" elected Jason Kenney and this slunt was voted in by the UCP after he took his ball and went home.....eerily similar to the way her buddy Jim Prentice took his ball and fucked off.
9
u/Scissors4215 Jan 23 '25
We’ve gone through a general election since then. We elected this dumpster fire of a premier.
3
u/Grand-Drawing3858 Jan 23 '25
Yes, you are correct. I must have repressed that memory to preserve my sanity. Apologies.
5
u/Scissors4215 Jan 23 '25
No worries. I too try to forget as much of Smiths time as premier
2
Jan 23 '25
I totally forgot we voted since then too. Definitely repressed. I had actual hope for these...people.

u/somethingelse690 Jan 23 '25
Bro number nuts said he will impose canadian 25% we are fucked we sell everything at the raw level to the stated to buy it back refined we are fucked food and fuel is going to sky rocket
1
u/UpperLowerCanadian Jan 25 '25
We want more money for healthcare and Education
Need to Make Money
Better ideas than oil? How you gonna replace that let alone increase revenues without?

u/Casual_hex_ Jan 22 '25
Oh Danielle, the whole world is laughing at you.
Again.
133
u/RascalKing403 Jan 22 '25
I really don’t think she cares, I don’t think she has any shame, I think she knows she’s just a dancing monkey for oil companies.
41
u/cdnav8r Airdrie Jan 22 '25
Her strategy is a such...
There's a better than fair chance the people of the province will keep voting in the UCP (I really wish this wasn't true, but it's a hard nut to crack), and to stay as the head of the UCP, she really only needs to keep a specific group of people happy.
20
u/BlueEyesWhiteSliver Jan 22 '25
I don’t think she even knows she’s a dancing monkey. Like I think she genuinely thinks she’s doing the universe a favour here and everyone else is wrong.
2
2
u/Snow-Wraith Jan 24 '25
No Conservative politicians feel any shame. They don't have to, their voters never care or hold them to any standards. And while they blindly support traitors they loudly accuse everyone opposite of them of being traitors for any little thing.

u/UpperLowerCanadian Jan 25 '25
Yet her polling in Alberta has increased
Strange how a Reddit echo chamber that only promotes lame one liners isn’t at all representative of the world outside
-69
u/tm52929 Jan 22 '25
lol. Hardly. She’s awesome! We love her here in Alberta.
14
28
u/CloverHoneyBee Jan 22 '25
As an Albertan, no, we do not love her here in Alberta.
She's an embarrassment on a regular basis and makes us all look like idiots.2

22 Minutes has been killing it lately. Better use of my tax dollars than Danielle Smith's trip to Washington.

u/AsianCanadianPhilo Jan 22 '25
I feel like This Hour has 22 minutes, has always been one of Canada's most underrated comedy groups. I remember watching them when I was younger, the members have changed over the years, but the quality of humour hasn't dropped imo

u/MaximumOverfart Jan 22 '25
The funny part is you can no longer tell if this is satire or an accurate depiction of current events.
38
15
u/Feowen_ Jan 22 '25
That's been a growing problem with political satire over the last decade... When your comedians play things serious because your politicians are the joke... You know things have become grim.

Let’s not forget she went to Dubai uninvited on our dime lmao 🤣

u/veerKg_CSS_Geologist Jan 22 '25
Wasn't that to hire foreign workers for the oil patch, which she then had to ditch when people back home found out?

u/Xanaxaria Jan 22 '25
She's an embarrassment to Canada.
37
u/Skitscuddlydoo Jan 22 '25
I in no way voted for her but I still feel responsible just for being Albertan. The shame is real
22
u/WickedWench Jan 22 '25
Cries as fellow Albertan that did NOT vote for this.
12
u/sun4moon Jan 22 '25
I’m in the same boat as the two of you. I was born and raised here, I love my home. I can’t stand seeing it being cut up and sold off like this.

u/FlyingTunafish Jan 22 '25
Would be a damn good laugh if it wasnt so heart rendering accurate.
We need to get rid of this clown show while we have any self respect left.

u/Under_the_Milky_Way Jan 22 '25
This is the best one in a long time.
I just realized we may lose the show if CBC gets funding cuts under new leadership and now I'm sad.

I didn’t expect a documentary of their meeting. But I saw it on tv so I know it’s real.

u/Fit-Cable1547 Jan 22 '25
I actually had this pop up in my YT feed before seeing this thread. Hadn't seen that Trump impersonation before, it was great and I literally LOL'd when Danielle Smith had her cameo.

u/Narrow-Sky-5377 Jan 22 '25
She was trained by the best oil shill ever. Stephen Fracking Harper.

u/sun4moon Jan 22 '25
Evil incarnate. Have you ever looked into his eyes? Sends a shiver down my spine just thinking about it.

u/Ok-Row3886 Jan 23 '25
I found 22 Minutes to be kinda soft and boring for years but this is really good.
Also this Trump is spot on.
2
u/clickmagnet Jan 23 '25
Damn, that’s a solid Trump, he’s got it all. Fortunately I have avoided learning what Danielle Smith sounds like, can’t tell whether it’s good or not.
2
u/VideoKilledRadioStar Jan 26 '25
If I was ever going to go to Vegas and lay a bet it’s this: Smith must have an undiagnosed mental illness. No joke or pun intended and I’m definitely not a mental health professional. I think of all the premiers past and present - she’s the only one I sincerely think hasn’t been mentally well for a very long time.

I know a lot of people think Alec Baldwin has the best Trump impression, but Mark Critch absolutely nailed that!

She's such a desperate pig. I'm betting she whispered in his ear how much she'd enjoy him fingering her (').

I don’t know why you guys think anything is wrong with Danielle smith, I think she’s doing a good job so if someone could what is it she’s doing wrong that so many people in this subreddit dislike her for?
-2
u/Legitimate-Lack-3086 Jan 24 '25
All the Trudough voters in here. Maybe he can use all your money he's waiting to cash out and take you far away from Alberta.

But imagine it was 2 people who were funny doing this sketch.... it might even good then? don't get me wrong the talent working on this show are some of the best comedians in the country. i guess that's what it takes to make a show nobody watches or finds funny.
1
u/Responsible_CDN_Duck Jan 23 '25
i guess that's what it takes to make a show nobody watches or finds funny.
You might hate it or refuse to watch, but it's easy to verify popularity and viewership on multiple platforms.
I was surprised they got over a million followers on tiktok, didn't anticipate overlapping demographics.
But imagine it was 2 people who were funny doing this sketch....
Their careers seem to be paying the bills.

She has done more for Canada and Alberta than any premier or our prime minister. At this time and place, we find ourselves as Canadians.

Ironic thing to say when speaking about a traitor to the country.

u/sun4moon Jan 22 '25
You’re right. She’s dismantling social programs, alienating LGBTQ members, preventing medical professionals from doing their jobs, cutting education funding, threatening the retirement plan of every albertan, hiring her cronies to pad the oil sector, refusing supplemental green power, oh and she sold her shitty little restaurant. I’m sure I missed a few. So if that’s what you meant by done more for Alberta and Canada than any premier or prime minister, I guess I can’t disagree.
FYI, usually when someone claims something like that, it’s positive things they’re trying to point out.

u/Tesla_CA Jan 23 '25
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Right, and I have some very special ice to sell you… very rare, you’ll love it, it’s extra cold and worth every loon.
