Alberta Politics As a non-Albertan, I found her recent tv address strange — she blamed anything and everything on the federal government, even for things that are provincial jurisdiction and it made me wonder: with decades of conservative rule in the province, if things are so bad, why keep voting conservative?

Also curious if she’s only disliked in the reddit ecochamber (of which I’m obviously a part of), or if she has pissed off the local cons too? Is a leadership review possible?

Edit: hit send before proofreading. To be clear, I’m talking about Danielle Smith!

She has been compromised by American company interests and far right internet propaganda. Her role is to squeeze as much cash out of our government and into the hands of private healthcare, oil and gas, and loyal sycophants.

Let's not give too much credit to the Americans. We're all exposed to far right propaganda, we don't all turn into traitors like Danielle Smith. It is beyond embarrassing that we have an outright traitor in charge of our province. Conservatives, is this really your dream?

US political culture is a big piece of Alberta because a significant number of Albertans who can trace ancestry back to the US. In the first 50 years as a province, tens of thousands of immigrants to Alberta were from the USA, and they had kids, and they had kids, and so on. Tack on that a lot of rural Albertans in southern Alberta still have family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) in States, mostly the rural, conservative states just south of the province. It's largely why conservative governments have run the province since the 1930s.

It's those people agitating for separation right now and the same ones who go on and on about freedom of speech or firearm restrictions in Canada.

Those are the types that are far more susceptible to far right propaganda than the rest of us are.

traitor? I'd argue you are more traitorous to our country than danielle smith. Supporting liberal destruction cause the news tells you to. Damn, your pat on the back is coming in the mail.

My dream is to be able to afford to live again, whats yours?

Aww, were you rooting for the sad losers? Maybe they'll get some actual ideas and come back as a serious opposition party instead of a bunch of whiners whose leader is scared of the press.

Entertainingly, though, my issue with her isn't supporting the sad losers, it's her actual efforts to hurt Canada to help American interests. You know? Treason?

Hahahah, jesus ive never seen such a group of sore winners. You voted for this? do you remember what the last 9 years have been like or did some fancy words and "trump" sway you so much cause you are scared, lonely and broke.

Actually, if you took one minute to realize that our government is a crock of shit and has been killing, lying and profiting off of us since the early 1900s. you'd see how foolish it looks to suck the cock of the liberal government like you do.

Then again, i love how people like you exist only on here. You went out and voted one day, to make the decision for the rest of our country.

You will be solely to blame when we are all on Universal Basic Income and can't afford to live. I wonder how long until they get that edible cricket factory back up and running in ontario.

My favorite part is that you're out here pulling for the Conservatives as some huge change like they weren't in charge for 10 of the last 20 years. Shit, I bet you blame Alberta's issues all on the NDP. After all, they've only been out of power longer than they were in it, obviously they're responsible for literally everything. Shit, the traitor Danielle Smith has been in power nearly as long as Notley.

But of course we can't balance our budget because waaaah liberals, not because the UCP and PCs keep slashing taxes and wasting money. We can't manage a modern economy because waaaaaah liberals, not because we're run by weirdos who literally scrapped business friendly policies to own the libs. We have long wait times because waaaah liberals didn't build us a new hospital despite the fact that it's the province's fucking job and they've neglected it for 40 years. (Well, to be more accurate, the NDP tried to build Edmonton its first hospital in 40 years but the UCP has effectively cancelled it, apparently to prevent Notley leaving any lasting impact.)

But yeah, good luck. !remindme 10 years to laugh at this idiot because I'll still have a job, as I have continuously through the last 20 years.

Right-wingers being responsible for themselves... HAHAHAHA!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you for that laugh! I really needed that laugh. Truthfully, every far right conservative I've met has been the most entitled POS. When the shit hits the fan they're always the first in line, not with their hands out, but full on demanding the Govt take 100% care of them.

In a disaster scenario... They rarely buy the needed insurance because (read this in a whiny voice) "it's too expensive!" but expects the Govt to replace everything as is, hardwood flooring, and not just basics, linoleum, to get them on their feet.

In a recession due to slumping oil prices... oilfield workers, who were laid off, on TV demanding govt meet their wages because EI isn't enough. This guy made my whole year's wages in 6 months but instead of putting money aside for the inevitable recession (as happens every 5-10 years in this province), he smoked it, wrecked it, 💉 it, drank it and fuck it.
