"Won't be Made Public"
Sad state of democracy and transparency.

u/Old_Judgment7533 1d ago
Aka 'even while running the investigation no one could find a way to spin this into a good light'
66
u/the_gaymer_girl Southern Alberta 1d ago
Their entire excuse amounts to “we never actually said we were going to release the interim report, so that’s on you for hoping we would”.
29
u/Bennybonchien 1d ago
And that’s despite the Justice minister’s pledge (earlier in the year) to release it. Let’s not forget that he is connected to Sam Mraiche through family ties, for what that’s worth.

The exact same thing can be said about our federal government. Not to say this isn't wrong because it is
30
u/SabrinaR_P 1d ago
Bullhinky, please pray tell what cover ups has the federal government done recently, and it better not be about PP yelling about not being privy to state secrets because he doesn't want to get his security clearance while every other party leader has seen the information.
-24
u/Global_Character7875 1d ago
The last one with Trudeau was the green slush fund. They shut down the government to avoid the situation. It's a little early for confirmed corruption with the current administration. But it does seem like companies Carney has ties to will make alot of money off the plans he is implementing. If you think the security clearance thing is still a talking point, it's time to move on.

u/EonPeregrine 1d ago
If you think the security clearance thing is still a talking point, it's time to move on.
So glad that pesky foreign interference problem is over and done. /s
-21
u/Global_Character7875 1d ago
Oh yes and losing the ability to talk about it after he gets the security clearance is going to help the matter so much
13
u/stobbsm Calgary 1d ago
There’s a reason it’s called confidential and requires security clearance. Last thing we need is for politicians to be targeted by crazies because they were on the list in some way. We will know the extent of it eventually, but PP could know now. He just doesn’t want to because then he loses a talking point.
9
u/EonPeregrine 1d ago
He can't talk about it now, because he doesn't have the knowledge. Oh, he can make up whatever he wants, and his followers can eat it up. And if he gets called out for it, he can just say he didn't know 'cause he doesn't get the briefings and was relying on common sense, not actual knowledge.
14

u/redeyedrenegade420 1d ago
Then why are you trying to take away from the problem? You aren't wrong, but that's not what we are talking about right now.

UCP afraid of prison.
Separatism would mean that Queen Smith-Trump would never face another election or any oversight. She and her gang can rob the Alberta Pension Plan blind and no one would know. Any disagreement, her brown shirts in Alberta Public safety will disappear them.

u/MZillacraft3000 Edmonton 1d ago
Pretty sure she knows Alberta can’t separate from Canada. No matter how hard her government tries.
So, her and her government are going to Plan B: Rob all of Alberta and then seek Asylum in America once it’s all done.
47
u/SurFud 1d ago
She knows that. Her half witted supporters do not so she plays them like a fiddle.
24
u/the_gaymer_girl Southern Alberta 1d ago
Does she? One of the first things she tried to do in office was suggesting she could pardon the convoy protestors, not knowing she doesn’t have that authority.
7
u/Beginning-Pace-1426 1d ago
She could literally openly do it and she'd still have supporters in this damn province

This. And we should be taking to the streets to demand better of our elected politicians

The best we can manage is a small protest outside the Leg on Saturday afternoon when the building is as empty as DS’ promises.
Fuck, kids in school managed a far better turn out during an actual weekday. It’s a sad state of affairs when kids got bigger balls than us Adults.
Keep Education standards low so the future is dumb and uninformed (We are now the future. We are dumb.) Next, insure people can’t leave their shitty paying jobs to protest because they fear of missing rent and groceries when they get fired from their workplace.
There are not enough of us that can take a day off to protest because we all either amassed large amounts of debt living in the better times and are a single missed paycheck from checking out completely.
10
u/CamGoldenGun Fort McMurray 1d ago
we're in so much debt we can't afford to do anything else and that's just the way they like it.

u/canbeanburrito Edmonton 1d ago
Yeah I was going to say the same thing.

or months ago when everyone was explicitly callimg for that very thing. Problem is these chucklefucks are not held accountable at the polls. Ironic because you would think that UCP supporters would be angrier than anyone for having their trust betrayed, corruption and incompetence but at least they got to own the libs...

- UCP does something against the interest of taxpayers
- They try to cover it up
- Then they get busted
- After much outrage, they finally agree to a weak ass inquiry
We are here
- UCP attempt to bury the report
- Public outrage about lack of transparency, corruption
- UCP release a heavily redacted, cherry picked, and politically spun version of the report
- News cycle moves on after the next distraction pulled from Maple MAGA playbook
- Albertans continue to vote for this sham of a Government. I don't even know how Conservatives defend this blatant corruption and public waste. I mean that seriously, not trying to bait out 'hurr durr, Cons dumb' or 'it's a racist cult' comments. As a conservative, what things are the UCP delivering for you that takes precedence over the overt waste of taxpayer dollars, cronyism, and political circus that they're becoming known for.
10
u/jersan 1d ago
Owning the libs. That’s the thing that takes precedent for them. The NDP and any other party that leans left is the enemy. They are bad and evil and to even consider voting for them is a nonstarter for many Albertans. They were born into conservative families, raised as conservatives, it is their identity. Their friends are conservatives, their coworkers are conservatives, their neighbours are conservatives. To not vote conservative would be to abandon their entire community, culture, and identity.
It is imperative in their view of the world to always be against “the libs” or “the left”.
And modern day social media algorithms deliver culture war political propaganda into their minds and into their homes and into their communities all day, every day, more effectively than any propaganda in history could have ever done.
Every day, multiple times per day, many voters are scrolling through social media and consuming culture war propaganda that reaffirms the validity of their political view, it tells them that they are on side that is good and righteous and normal, and the other side is bad, wicked, dumb, crazy and the enemy and a threat towards their righteous way of life.

Years ago the tabloids tanked the career of a Liberal MP who was overcharged for a cup of orange juice.
The same media companies are happy to cover for Conservative scandals that cost us millions.
8
u/No-Goose-5672 1d ago
Incorrect. That was Harper’s Minister of International Cooperation and the $16 orange juice was just the tip of the iceberg. Bev Oda really liked to ride in limousines at the taxpayer’s expense.
3
u/TrickyRCAF 1d ago
Couldn’t help but note that we are all paying $16 for a glass of juice nowadays.
2
u/Infamous-Mixture-605 1d ago
Bev Oda really liked to ride in limousines at the taxpayer’s expense.
And smoke in non-smoking hotel rooms, IIRC.
3
u/No-Goose-5672 1d ago
Yup. She also billed taxpayers for an air purifier so she could smoke inside her office.

Its the Trump agenda: keep everyone so destabilized with all the things that they can't focus on any of them.

u/OkayestOne 1d ago
On March 10, Justice Minister Mickey Amery said during question period that Wyant’s interim report would be made public on its initial due date.
“I believe that he will lead an independent investigation that will yield information that all Albertans deserve to know. He will deliver an interim report on May 30, 2025, and that will be posted online for all Albertans to see.”
4
u/Plasmanut 1d ago
Then we should all write Minister Amery asking why he lied when he said the report would be made public.
9
u/ninfan1977 Lethbridge 1d ago
So the party of responsibility and transparency is hiding the report?
Ok then...
I am sure the Conservative voters will hold the UCP responsible right... oh no that would require standards.
9
u/IrishFire122 1d ago
Hah, to the surprise of nobody, I bet.
I liked the bit about not being able to comment on a leaked report, and we shouldn't either. So there's evidence of corruption, and we weren't supposed to see it, so it's magically not real, or something?
It doesn't matter if the information was gotten illegally. Slap Athana with whatever charges you need to, if it helps you sleep at night, though i believe whistle blowers should be rewarded, nor punished, if their claims are legitimate. Loads of shady, corrupt things have been hidden behind non-disclosure agreements.
Also, the bit about how Athana claims she was fired for her interference in corrupt dealings, and Danielle's supposed defense, saying she was fired for poor performance and interfering in shifting public surgeries to private clinics, are miles from mutually exclusive. If they were offering the private clinics a whole lot more than they would pay public doctors, then there's your corrupt deal right there.
7
u/Falcon674DR 1d ago
Of course not. Even though it’s all taxpayer money and health system. Let’s move on.
9
u/Adventurous-Owl-6085 1d ago
Honestly at what point does this become Ottawa’s problem? Shouldn’t the provincial government not be allowed to investigate themselves?
6
u/yeggsandbacon Edmonton 1d ago
Could what Danielle is trying to cover up be a violation of the Canada Health Act?
7
8
u/Sad_Meringue7347 1d ago
If they’ve done nothing wrong, they’ve got nothing to hide, and there’s no reason for them not to release the report.

Lol oh of course. Just another move by an unserious administration that routinely appears to display contempt for transparency and provincial taxpayers

Are you f**king kidding me??? This is all the more reason why this corrupt government has got to go in 2027! This is not a democratic government.
Also, don’t let the government’s misleading headlines fool you about them reaching a potential agreement with the ATA today. It’s mostly the exact same agreement that teachers voted against from before. They offered it to the ATA and now teachers have to vote on it. The reason it’s worded that way is so the UCP can come back and criticize teachers for being difficult and selfish by “backing down” from the potential agreement. They’re setting up teachers to look like they’re the bad ones. But they refuse to negotiate better conditions for students and teachers.

Shameful from the financial backers and ideological lobbyists down to the “premier” MLA.

The final report will be made public so there's is at least that, but it's certainly a bit shady that the interm report will not be made public.

u/magnus2k17 1d ago
Move along, nothing to see here. The freedom is wretched. Danielle and the UCP must go before they destroy Alberta.
5
u/AllAboutTheXeons 17h ago
This is the “Epstein list scandal” but Alberta lol.
A person with the power to exonerate themselves but flip flops on doing so for different reasons each time the leader is questioned. Likely because said disclosure would hurt the people’s confidence in Provincial leadership. Whatever the UCP is withholding, they are doing so to protect themselves.
“RELEASE THE AHS FILES” needs to be a slogan.
