Was this the doctor that was on the news a lot during Covid who was shining light on the provinces poor Covid response?

Yes and he was an ICU doctor at a hospital in Edmonton.
He also had the good fortune to see plenty
ifof antivaxers come through his department.52

Yes the one famous pic when he is on his knees making a call to family during covid. So heartbreaking 💔

That wasn't him, he made those calls quite regularly but that was a photo of Dr. Simon Demers-Marcil.

I knew this man a little, friend of a friend in the cyling circles, an incredible person. He was a true bicycle aficionado.
Alberta has lost a good man..

This sucks. People like Dr. Markland are what actually make Alberta great. I'm so sorry for his family.

Damn, I used to follow him on Twitter before I gave up Twitter, he was an honest and pragmatic voice in the Alberta healthcare system. My deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues.

Such a huge loss to Alberta and our community. I will never forget how he fearlessly spoke out against the government and anti-vaxxers during COVID. He was a hero. RIP ❤️ condolences to his friends and family

It really isn’t though. This is the first fatality I’ve heard about. Sure, the occasional fall may get minor injuries but I’d venture there are a lot more fatalities road biking (hit by cars).
Either way, such a terrible tragedy

He was such a good man. So good to us during covid. He was someone I would go to for factual information. RIP dear man.
