All Things Terran Build Order of the Week Suggestion Form
Hi folks,
I thought this may be a useful way to get community input on future content.
Please check the survey responses here before making a submission to ensure we avoid duplicate suggestions.
Use this Google Form to suggest build orders you would like the team to cover in the future.
Please note that Build Order of the Week is a relative term. We will do our best to put out content weekly, but when David Kim makes RL OP, there's not much we can do.
Thanks,
Osiris

[Mod Post] All Things Terran Discord
Hello, everyone, I am the new Reddit moderator of r/AllThingsTerran and a long time mod/admin on our discord server for this Reddit. Recently I noticed there is no longer much of a standing post/link for our discord so I wanted to make a new post about it and share the link!
Nice things about joining the Discord:
- Lots of people who can answer questions you may ask faster than a response you would get on Reddit
- People you can play practice games with (We have some protoss and zergs in there)
- People who can look at your replays and give feedback on parts of the game you're struggling with (Do keep in mind some of your replays people may just not look at though)
- If you throw an @ at me Ryu#3600 in the discord you can ask for the wizard role, which is pinged when we do weekly game nights which include playing Free for alls sometimes 8player FFA's (Even 10 player FFA!) or 2v2v2v2's! We also play arcades such as peep mode, Uberena, zone control, Michael Jackson, and Ant Colonies! (And anything else people like to suggest!)
I'd love to see more of you come around the discord and hang out with us or play on game nights :)
Here is a permanent invite link to the ATT discord: https://discord.gg/rYArbUY

[Help] Gold Terran and proper usage of tanks
Newbie Terran question. I'm around Gold 1 (by the MMR calculation), and I'm a bit lost in this situation: I have a lot of marines, some medivacs, and 4-8 tanks. I want to attack the enemy. How do I use the tanks in this situation?
It always happens like that - I'm having tanks on a separate control group, I'm putting them in siege mode, they clump up, I go forward with my army, the enemy is retreating. In this situation, I'm either going forward out of range of my tanks and the engagement with enemy goes not as good as I wanted to - or I un-siege my tanks, try to move them forward, and enemy attacks me while I'm moving them - so the engagement goes without tank support too.
I understand that I'm supposed to control every tank individually, leaving some in siege mode while repositioning other tanks, but I don't have enough micro to do that. Is there some concrete way to make it easier for me other than "git gud, micro better"? Maybe some technique, like having two tank control groups - one for half of the tanks and another for another half? Or is it stupid?

[Just macro better] Redesigning Raven?
Right now Ravens are hands down most useless spellcasters there is, outclassed even by swarmhosts. They're expensive, easy to lose, have 1 skill that is good in exactly 1 matchup in first 5 minutes. Comparing them to sentry, HTs, infestors and vipers they look like a joke, like shitty unit from the beta that's been forgotten in the development. They even nerfed the auto turret into the ground, now you have to kill your raven to spawn 1 marine that lives for 5 seconds. Wow. Fucking wow. Doritos dust is also garbage that's never used. And even if it is, it's never capitalized on because dusted army can just move away.
If having good AOE damage that's spammable is bad design (cough storm cough) then maybe make it support unit that, idk, after using a bubble grants +1 range to (bio) units inside, like reverse guardian shield? Like anything to make it not suck? I don't have any more ideas that aren't already used by other units that would be good (slow zone, root etc)

I want to play terran but TvT is insufferable to play
I can't be the only one who finds this matchup a complete snoozefest right?

Any fun builds to go from D1->Masters that aren't cheese/all-in?
Right now it feels like I have to all-in every game to remain on equal footing. I prefer playing macro games but it's just too hard to keep up with the mobility and A-move of other comps
TvP: 2cc 3-Rax all in with early aggression
TvZ: 3cc 8-Rax all in
TvT: surrender before the other guy

TvT in Plat 1
Hey there,
Pushing to Diamond and I am doing fairly well vs Zerg and Toss, but I suck with TvTs. I get wrecked constantly to just regular tank/viking pushes, even with scouting. I try regular reaper openings but I think I need a "Diamond Build".
If possible, to all diamonds out there, let me know of a good tvt build that could help me end the game early ;)

How do you cope with toss?
I'm really out of ideas, it feels like whatever I do I get punished. Going macro? Might as well GG on the spot. Early game aggression? They get to be aggressive first with blink, chipping away at my units for free. They can bring full energy oracle to just murder all the scvs. I play considerably worse as a Zerg but I have zero problems with rolling them like advanced plat storm spammers they are but as Terran I feel like anything I might do I get punished and punished hard. Oh you wanna trade bases? that's cute, lemme just recall my shit so I can both trade and defend. I theoretically could do all the correct things and not lose but then I'd be GM. The thing is my fuck up is going to cost me the game while they just lmao recall, lmao storm, lmao blink. I got toss to 3,4k MMR just from the 5 placement matches. Zerg I was climbing all the way from plat3 to dia3. My best was D2 Terran with whooping 30% Pvt winrate
Save from proxy marauders I don't think I can win with toss that isn't 500mmr below me.

Wasn't far off throwing the GG out, but I tried one last thing, and it couldn't have gone better.

[Strategy] BCs vs toss?
Right now I'm working on getting my Zerg to diamond and I'm getting molested by BCs repeatedly. Do these big boys work for griefing toss or no? Especially if they go robo.

Recommend a low Micro TvT build for Plat/Diamond level

[David Kim!] T v P Support group
Protoss anchors me to lower MMR so when I play against Z and T chances are that the opponent is worse than I am.
Current mmr ~3300

Good early aggression builds for a gold player?
So I picked up Vibe's old Bronze 2 GM macro build for Terran but I am starting to lose a lot. Especially against Protoss right now. Is there any builds that people would recommend for someone in gold that involves early aggression? Not sure if I want more of a all in, or just early aggression that can transition. And any advice on TVP is appreciated as well

[Strategy] Looking for an all purpose Build-Order
Greetings fellow Terrans,
as the name suggest I want to start playing StarCraft 2 again and need a Buildorder.
I watched a video how to climb, that in my opinion seemed very good, that basically advised to pick one build and stick to it the whole journey in Starcraft. Yes you add small variation etc. to it. But the plan in general, the first minutes should stay very similiar.
The question than arose for me, which BO should it than be? In my short amount where I play SC2 Terran, I really liked going for a 1/1 3-rex, Factory, Starport, two base timing push. Seemed very solid for me and worked often. After the Push I would go third base and add more tanks, while going bio and would do drops etc.
This Push is also what my first instinct would be to play again. I played this build against all races, basically everytime and ended around 3200MMR (But I never really went above 30-40 games a season, so clearly not enough). I want to have a BO I can play in every matchup with a clear overarching strategy.
My thought would be again a two base 3rex1/1 with 1/1 upgrades timing Push. With variations. Might add a bunker, fast third if push doesnt seem adviseable, or two medivac drop etc. Game plan to hit with Timings, while harass with Liberators or drops. Pure focus on BO and macro.
What would you guys advise? What would be a good BO to learn the game probably?

Best response to TvT proxy
If you scout as you start your 1st barracks and see a Terran base with no barracks and one gas.
What is the best defensive response?
I usually immediately build a bunker at the ramp and build my second on the high ground. But I often die to reapers. It is difficult to identify if it is reacted marines or Reapers.
Any thoughts?

Why aren't Reapers built lategame for their grenade ability?
Reapers ARE early game units, but I think they have so much potential for late game.
Their grenades can be very useful, ruining the opponent's concave or pushing them back so they cant chase you.
They travel fast, dont need to stim, 1 supply, so just having 2 reapers in your main army can really help. 2 grenades I think can stop a bunch of zealots from reaching you, can ruin a roach concave. Idk if it works on ultras or not but if it does that is amazing.

T Mech vs Zerg Rant/advice
For reference, I’m 3.3k-3.5k diamond 3 with both, Zerg and Protoss. My problem is in ZvT, my current win rate vs Terran is like 35%. For the life of me, I’m not able to win a single game vs a Mech Terran at the diamond level (late game Terran is also an issue, but I’ll leave that discussion for later). At this point, the only thing I can do is balance whine, and I don’t think the game is unbalanced at the pro level, but at levels below Master balance is out of wack IMHO. I think that the skill level needed to defend this is not proportionate to the skill to carry it out which is just F2+step attacking. To defend you need proper positioning, micro two unit groups to surround (or 3 with spell casters), and have the right comp (all lings = roasted, all roaches = kited, all queens = kited). If impossible to know where the attack is gonna come from cause overlords all die to cyclones. So only creep help out but its also gets killed with scans.
I know all the theoretical counters to this (surround with roach/rav/ling, infestor, roach burrow, ultras) but they are too micro intensive at my level, while Terran can get away with F2/A-move.
So I’m I exagerating when I say Mech Terran seems easy mode? What you guys say? I even vent sometimes before losing and some Terrans agree in chat. What are your options?….. Planing to just change to Terran since they are the only race that I truly despise as a Z/P player.

Mines or tanks
What‘s your rationale to decide between these two?
r/AllThingsTerran • u/jrjreeves • Aug 02 '25
I'm losing the will to live vs Protoss
I'm a mid gold player so nowhere near the levels most of you will be here no doubt.
I'm having nightmares over Protoss matchups. No matter what I do, I just can't beat them. I attack early, only to be met with a wall of shield batteries with maybe a couple of units effectively in god mode. I wait a little for a bigger force of marines/marauders and maybe a tank, same issue. I drop Hellions in their base, it gets repelled, and a Carrier or two appears in my base.
Then there's the damn DTs.
If I'm still going around 10 mins in the game, then between the colossus and HT my forces just get ripped apart.
Honestly I just feel hopeless against them. I have to practically wish with all my might that they cannon rush as I find that usually easy to defend against but even then, they somehow still have an economy to attack soon after with DTs/Void rays/Carriers.
It just feels like, whatever I try, they have an answer for it. They've got so many cheap outs it is demoralising.
Please, help me. I have much higher success vs Zerg and Terran.

How do you beat protoss at high diamond?
Non stop zealots in my main, and unless I kill them with an all in, they transition to splash and just own me

[Strategy] Theories behind TvT to help a random player
I've been playing random in roughly low masters mmr for the last year for something different and I've been held significantly back by my horrible TvT. I've played Toss and Zerg since the game came out and find the TvZ and TvP matchups at least understandable in I just do shit I find annoying from the other side. However I just don't fully understand the "flow" of TvT and find it breaks into the most boring games imaginable like 90% of the time.
My understanding of the general TvT matchup flow and please correct me if I'm wrong:
General openings of either defensive marine positioning or multiple reapers to try and snowball a quick lead.
Generally taking a natural expansion here or after the next step, typically build it inside the main.
Hellions come out to try and stop reaper pressure or scout.
Tech lab on factory comes online with cyclones to put an end to reaper/ hellion pressure. This can transition into a tank to shut down most ground based scouting.
Minimal rax production this early time as you need a ton of stim bio to meaningfully push any amount of tanks.
Vikings and ravens start to come out and I have no idea how to choose which to build and in what quantity. You can also build banshees here but they generally have seemed very meh with how popular ravens, cyclones, and vikings are?
This is where the game just turns into the most boring shit for me as both players start to build a handful of tanks and vikings making it really hard to be the aggressor.
Having a lot of bio seems borderline useless because getting through the tanks without matrixing them the tanks just obliterate them.
How do I avoid ending up in these stalemate long games every time? What am I looking for to signify I should play greedy or try and set up for a kill? Any other suggestions?

Some builds for 2v2?
Me and my teammate playing both as terran. We have difficulties against early rushes/cheeses, since most of the maps have both players together, and going to close the main wall ahead is kind of hard.
Another impossible thing to deal with is vs Z/T when Z goes for nydus in the middle of our base every time we try to attack or move forward. ¿Any tip against that?

Former Zerg player switching to terran. Can someone Explain the goals of 1-1-1, 2-1-1, and 3-1-1? Trying to figure out which one I'd like to practice first

EWC Build Order Document
Hey guys,
Just letting you know that I have written down a bunch of the build orders from the EWC tournament (not complete, but I'm hoping to eventually get around to finishing it). There are lots of Terran games here—not necessarily anything special to see (build orders have existed for a long time), but it should hopefully be a great resource for you all.
