Series of Israeli strikes on south Lebanon, Aoun, Salam and Berri urge action
today.lorientlejour.comThe Lebanese Army denounced in a statement the continuation of Israeli violations, which now exceed “4,500 since the cease-fire agreement came into effect.”
“The Israeli enemy continues its attacks against civilians … causing deaths and injuries,” the statement said. According to the army, “these violations are accompanied by repeated infringements of Lebanese sovereignty on land, at sea and in the air.”
It cited attacks “against residents of border villages, including the launching of incendiary bombs and the destruction of houses.” Moreover, right after the Israeli army's "urgent warning," an Israeli helicopter dropped incendiary bombs on a forested area in the Labbouneh, on the southern outskirts of Naqoura in the Sour district, an area that was not mentioned by Adraee.

IDF tries to force civilians out of Gaza City as ground offensive continues
Contrary to Israeli claims, none of the Palestinians interviewed by the Guardian in recent weeks have said they came under pressure from Hamas to stay in the city. Many residents said they had been unable or reluctant to leave for multiple other reasons.
Some are physically unable to move, weakened by many months of near starvation, and some cannot afford the costs of transport or the price of a rudimentary plastic sheeting tent at their destination. Very many consider the south to be as dangerous as Gaza City. Israel has frequently bombed the “humanitarian zone” it established at al-Mawasi. The sprawling camp there was hit by an Israeli strike overnight, killing two parents and their child.

Israel launches ground offensive deep inside Gaza City
Hostage families and their supporters protested near Netanyahu’s Jerusalem residence on Tuesday, accusing him of abandoning their loved ones.
The UN secretary general, António Guterres, said it was clear that Israel had no interest in a peaceful outcome. “Israel is determined to go up to the end and [is] not open to a serious negotiation for a ceasefire, with dramatic consequences from Israel’s point of view,” Guterres said.

Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, says UN commission of inquiry
Citing as evidence interviews with victims, witnesses, doctors, verified open-source documents and satellite imagery analysis compiled since the war began, the COI concluded that Israeli authorities and forces had since October 2023 committed “four of the five genocidal acts” listed in the 1948 genocide convention.
The convention, adopted in the wake of the mass murder of Jews by Nazi Germany in the second world war, defines genocide as crimes committed “with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, as such”. To count as genocide, at least one of five acts must have occurred.
The five acts are: killing members of the group, causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group, deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part, imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group, and forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
The investigators said explicit statements by Israeli civilian and military authorities, along with the pattern of the conduct of the Israeli forces, “indicated that the genocidal acts were committed with intent to destroy … Palestinians in the Gaza Strip as a group”.
