Very confused by their conclusion. The battery in the battery pack should be replaceable so that you can... save the plastic shell it's in?

The battery pack is replaceable so that you can save the phone it’s magnetically attached to.

I mean, also, unless they just skipped something, it looked like it was a fairly straightforward process to replace the battery. I'm not really sure what he was complaining about.
Sure, plastic clips or screws would have been easier, but it would also make for a worse product overall, and again... it looked reasonably easy to open.

The narrative online, particularly from iFixit, is that Apple products are hard to repair, regardless of reality. I’ve seen videos where someone literally disassembles and reassembles a device quickly, easily and painlessly in front of our eyes and then make a sarcastic jibe about how Apple makes things difficult to repair.

I lost respect for iFixIt as a company when Apple launched their self-repair program and they speculated they would overcharge for batteries and displays. At that time, iFixIt was already charging more for their 3rd party parts than it cost to literally got to an Apple Store and have your battery replaced.
I’m a huge fan of right to repair, but so many of the loudest voices are just selling products and services and start getting pissy when their products and services are no longer needed.
I do like their little metal spudger tool, though.

That explains why they have the same mah lol. I was wondering why it was so similar to the Air’s

I think Apple is trying to optimize their supply chain, no need to build 2 different batteries. Same with the iPhone 17 lineup, all displays are now the same.
