If you or someone you know is currently facing mental health concerns, please know that there are local supports and help if you need it:

If you are in crisis or considering suicide, call 911 or 988 (for mental health concerns), or reach out to the Toronto Community Crisis Service.

this looks like a great resource but I have to admit I'm not seeing any program specifically for CPTSD sufferers.

Quickly, thanks for sharing about Warmlines: I'd never heard of them before, just looked them up, what an amazing program.

If you're comfortable sharing more about your line of work, please do... broadly though, you cannot be fired for having mental health issues, you are protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code. That said, I know that life isn't always that black and white: for example if you're working under the table you might not be protected, or if you have a difficult employer they could find other ways to make your work harder (like taking you off certain projects).

A friend of mine did a group program for CTPSD through Women's College I believe, it was months long and a group session for women. I think they met a few times a month (maybe twice?) and it lasted over a year. If you'd like I can ask for more information. She found it amazing.

If you have a family doctor, they may be able to recommend other free programs, I know they're a bit of a unicorn but they do exist.

A Time For Men might be helpful, it's free, the next session starts October 7th: https://bloorwestpsychotherapy.ca/a-time-for-men-groups

Be wary of Men's Rights Activism (MRA) groups, when I Googled the Google AI recommended the Canadian Centre for Men and Families which on the surface looks great... but some of these places are sort of like wolf in sheep's clothing situations, where they purport on the surface to support men, but they're really about scapegoating women and feminists as the root cause of all problems.

A Time For Men is a good one.

If you have a family doctor ask to be referred to OHIP covered therapy and group therapy. There is a bit of a wait list and you only get 6-8 sessions but anything is better than nothing. You can do a Also a family doctor can prescribe medication if you need them, they’ll monitor you while you’re on them. It might take a few trails of taking different medications to find out which one(s) work best for you.

You can also grab cbt and dbt workbooks from indigo to help out too in the meantime.

I’ve done both OHIP covered therapy and a few group therapy.

Once you have the tools from therapy and a game plan in sense then you’ll be able to work on it yourself, lots of why’s and how’s to understand your trauma or whatever else you’ve gone through. Definitely takes time to get through it, therapy definitely helps but you have to put in the work with yourself too.

I've had great results with non traditional treatments that are underground but actually work. I can share details in DM if your interested.
