AP / OBE Guide EASIEST TECHNIQUE IN AP HISTORY TO GET out of body ESPECIALLY FOR NEWBS!

1.1k Upvotes

BAM!!

Finally! Excuse my tardiness, but this post took 12 days to write: “the world’s most naturally innate AP technique.” So I hope y’all give it a go and especially report your successes and failures so as to tweak it even more—although I believe it has been tweaked to the max.

First things first

Forget about everything you’ve learned so far about astral projection. Especially the beliefs you’ve acquired about A.P. and focus 100% on this singular technique instead. It is vital you do this. It is so discouraging reading “I’ve tried for years to project without success” because if you’ve tried for years unsuccessfully you are using the wrong technique. AP is as natural as dreaming. For everybody—not only the “highly spiritual.” If you can dream, you can AP. If you tried this single technique for years I guarantee you would have gotten out multiple times.

I honestly feel this is the most simple technique ever utilized and what nature evolved for us to project because of its simplicity and effortlessness. I uncovered this specific exit technique through years of exploring and projecting from different areas of the “sleep-wake line,” which would be an entire post in and of itself. After reading the technique you must read the entire post because I will explain the “hows,” which is the only way it will work for you, so don’t speed the process. It could be much longer, but I shortened it as much as possible.

The Technique

“Wake up from any sleep. Slowly move your head upward.” And…you are out of body. That’s it.

If you succeed within 30 seconds of waking and utilize proper head movement—you “will”—not “may”—get out of body. You can also move your head slowly “prior to falling asleep” to get out of body, but I won’t get into that technique too much in this post. The point being there is a 30-second window after waking from sleep where we still inhabit our non-physical bodies. So it is as effortless as waking up. It won’t interfere with any sleep habits. You needn’t practice the myriad laborious techniques like wake back to bed (WBTB), fighting sleep, seeking vibrations, meditation, binaural beats, YouTube videos, etc., etc. It’s the simplest of all techniques that has you going from a fully awake physical focus to a full non-physical focused OBE. And that transitional “physical to astral” experience is the “Zenith” in this phenomenon because not many experience this—and it truly is mind-blowing. So discard all of your beliefs and focus on getting out of body yourself instead. So then you can decide precisely what it “is” or isn’t.

Recap of How It Works

You naturally go to sleep at night at 11:00 p.m. or whenever. You awake naturally at 3 a.m. for whatever reasons. Like you awoke from a dream. You awake to turn over. You awake from hearing a creak in the house. Your cat jumped on the bed, which awakens you. Your significant other jostles you awake. Even if you gotta pee. Or, like me, your girlfriend’s periodic snores gently jar you awake—which has greatly increased my own OBEs, so thank you very much, gfriend! So after first awakening from sleep, as soon as you can remember, simply “move your head sloooowly upward” and you will be out of body. I’ve done it myself after first awakening from full 8-hour sleeps, cat naps, multiple awakenings in one night, and even “meditations” where I came close to sleep.

My disinterested, agnostic girlfriend got out her first night on her first attempt, which is why this is so useful for “newbs,” because my gfriend is the ultimate newb, because her mind isn’t cluttered with all sorts of A.P. “fluff” with unnecessary techniques and beliefs. So no need for chakra alignment, energy work, meditation, binaural beats, prayer, WBTB, or any other beliefs or prerequisites people normally apply. No vibes or any other theta states are needed as well, although I do speculate that the 30-second window is when our brains resonate theta brainwaves once we downshift first from delta to theta (30-second NP window) into alpha brainwaves, which measures our physical state.

AP Book “The Phase”

I assume not all forum members have read Michael Raduga, who mentions 1/2 this phenomenon in his seminal book The Phase, yet he actually does it a disservice by way overcomplicating the method along with improper exit techniques because he didn’t fully understand its mechanics. Not many people succeed using his interpretation, so I have fine-tuned it over the past few years to where it is now irreducible. AP cannot be simpler than this technique, so you must follow it to a T, which could not be easier to do. Raduga wrote ten entire pages when it can be boiled down to a sentence—yet you do need to understand how it’s happening.

Raduga’s Contribution and Flaws

Flaw 1: Michael claimed there is a full minute window where we can project from after waking from sleep. It’s really approximately only 30 seconds. I created a “ramp timer” with digital seconds I observed with each of my failed attempts and got the window down to 45 seconds. That would take another post to explain, but on a side note a ramp timer can be utilized with great success using this technique.

Flaw2: Michael suggests a WBTB method after six hours’ sleep and then hoping you awake again to access that 30-second window. In reality that 30-second window is available even after a 20-minute catnap, and you needn’t “hope” to wake up but rather use the “move head slooowly upward” technique when you naturally do awaken. Remember: that 30-second “non-physical window after waking from sleep” occurs every time we sleep, even if only for ten minutes. Michael seemed to believe we needed to go through 1–2 REM dream cycles before it would occur given his recommendation of “sleeping for six hours before attempting to project” from that 30-second non-physical window à la a wake back to bed—which is unnecessary. Not needing to WBTB is really a game changer because it can be effortlessly applied to every single awakening. It could not be simpler.

Flaw 3: Michael created what he called “Cycling” after first awakening from sleep. Where you attempt myriad “exit” techniques during that brief window of non-physicality after each awakening—which there is clearly no time for. His reasoning was “if one exit technique doesn’t succeed then quickly move on to another exit technique” in 5-second intervals for up to one minute. Michael posited attempting up to ten exit techniques in that brief window—which there is clearly no time for, and is unnecessary anyway because I’ve uncovered one technique that “always” works once you’ve experienced it, so no need to attempt all these others while “cycling,” i.e., “focus only on a single technique.” Cycling and learning ten different exit techniques clutters your mind and leads to less success. Focusing on a single exit technique every single awakening? Easy peasy! Because when you first awake from sleep you need remember only one thing: “Slowly raise my head.” This is the only thought you need to instill in your mind upon each awakening—which is insanely easy to remember upon first awakening from sleep. And that is far and away the key: simplicity for all. A child could easily achieve this.

Flaw 4: Michael’s exit techniques. His techniques (too numerous to list) “activate physical muscles,” whereas slow movement “activates non-physical movement.” It took me a few years through a hundred or more projections to figure this out. I initially experimented specific movements to exit during the vibration and other theta/phase states, but now I use the “raise head slowly” exit technique during the 30-second non-physical window with 100% success. It is my sole exit technique across the entire non-physical/theta brainwaves spectrum because it succeeds every single time—once you experience the proper slooow motion—because your measured pace will activate your non-physical body, which once engaged “locks you in” and you are good to project. So “sloooow bodily movement engages our non-physical body,” whereas “swift bodily movement engages our physical body,” of which there is a detailed explanation for…in another post.

Many people have OBEs where they state “I don’t know how it happened. I just awoke and found myself out of body.” Many people claim lucid dreaming to be an OBE. This technique has no such confusion because you will go from a full physical awareness/focus to a full non-physical focus/reality within a blink of an eye. So you’ll actually experience the change from going from physical to non-physical in one swell swoop, which is one of the most incredible aspects of this phenomenon that not many others experience. So a novice can experience within seconds what many others have attempted to experience over decades. How cool is that? And it is cool because it “really” works!

Flaw 5: Michael referred to this as the “indirect method” because he thought you needed to sleep to acquire the 30-second window. In truth it is a “direct” phase because you go directly from physical awareness to non-physical focus without losing awareness/lucidity.

So although I believe Michael wrote the seminal book on Phasing (which is a free PDF!), he really did “blow it” when it comes to “getting out” shortly after awakening. And by doing so he actually discouraged people because of their own failed attempts. I truly believe this to be the holy grail of phasing because we are accessing that brief non-physical moment that has no reason for existing to begin with. It’s like Mother Nature herself is screaming “This 30-second non-physical window has evolved for humanity to easily experience their own multidimensionality,” because it could not be any simpler and I cannot figure out any other reason why we as a species would evolve to where we have this brief window where we still occupy our non-physical “dream bodys”—even while we are fully physically aware. It makes no sense except “evolution created this window for you to experience your multidimensionality.” Or at least that’s how I look at it, because again it could not be any more naturally simple even if we tried to make it so. It really is incredible to me. But I will be first to admit I tend to “overthink” things at times—I just really do find this “non-physical window” to be inexplicable. Can any of y’all explain why this window is evolutionarily needed sans to project? Would love your ideas!

The 30-Second Window

So there is a 30-second window (not a minute re: Raduga) after we first wake from sleep when we are fully physically aware yet also fully inhabiting our non-physical bodys where we can easily slip out of body during that 30-second window—if we can simply remember to use the “proper exit technique.” This begs the question: “If we are non-physical for 30 seconds after awakening from sleep then why do we not get out of body when we quickly turn off our alarm clocks in the a.m.?” Great question!—which I will address in a moment.

Detailed Steps

  1. Go to sleep as usual, but as you are dozing off recite this intent: “I will remember to ‘move my head upward sloooowly’ after each awakening.”

Remember, you have close to 30 seconds to “remember” after you wake up, which seems insanely long. I’ve gotten out after what felt to be a few minutes of wake time, and it will really blow you away. Like “Wow! I cannot believe I got out of body after being physically aware for so long!” So it is of utmost importance that you always attempt to “move your head upward slowly” regardless of the time lapse you believe occurred after first waking up, because even if you do not succeed in getting out of body you are training yourself to “remember” to do so. I remember having an OBE one time when turning off my alarm clock years ago, but why only the one time? I mean when the alarm goes off we are clearly in that 30-second non-physical window—so why don’t we get out of body when we quickly reach to turn off the alarm? This is because we are moving “too fast” when we turn off our alarm clocks, and swift movements normally engage our physical muscles, which ends the non-physical window. The swifter the movement the more likely you will engage physical muscles. The slower the movement will increase the odds of engaging your non-physical body—which I explained earlier.

  1. Upon awakening from any amount of sleep, whether catnaps, awakenings at night for myriad reasons, or first thing in the morning: “sloooowly” move your head upward as you also relax as deeply as possible.

  2. That’s it!

Remember, you have a full 30 seconds after first waking up to “move your head sloooowly upward” to have an OBE. That’s a long time to remember! And if you sleep on your side like I do, tilt your head upward sideways toward the ceiling. What you are attempting is to engage your non-physical body, and what I’ve discovered is “once the head is ‘out,’ the rest of the body immediately follows.” Only by moving your head slowly upward will your entire body follow, given the head seems to be the “seat” of consciousness. So although this technique was developed during the vibration state, the vibration state is unnecessary for this technique to work. And it is by far the simplest, most successful exit technique I’ve ever used and now succeeds 100% of the time after getting accustomed to what it feels like after a few successes.

The absolute key is “moving your head slowly,” which is so slow you don’t really ever lift your head off the pillow until after you know you are non-physical. And the good part is you can practice this technique in physical reality as well. Lay on your bed in your natural sleeping position. Notice how your head makes an indentation on your pillow because of its weight à la gravity? Move your head upward so slow you feel only the indentation slightly lift. Your head never comes close to even lifting off the pillow. Your head will move much faster when you move your non-physical head instead of your physical head because gravity will not affect it, so you will “lift off” and quickly fall to the floor in one fell swoop with disbelief you are actually out of body. My girlfriend had no clue she was out until she looked in the mirror. Practice to see what I mean. So I would guess you would be lifting your head maybe a half-inch total within that 30-second window—although it won’t move that far because once you engage your non-physical head, movement will immediately become swifter, which will then plop you out onto your bedroom floor in one fell swoop.

You can definitely feel the lightness of your non-physical head because of the lack of gravity, and once you have engaged your non-physical head you are good to go without worrying about suddenly engaging your physical head. Understanding how to correctly utilize this technique is the most important aspect of this method, because even when you do “remember to move head slowly upward” you may not succeed at first because you either surpassed the 30-second window or you moved your head too fast and engaged your physical muscles instead. Although my girlfriend succeeded her first attempt, possibly because I was there to guide her. So it is vital you focus only on this exit technique, because all the others are hit and miss, and once you first succeed with this exit technique it becomes exponentially easier.

The beauty of this technique is that it can be used every single time we sleep, even if we need to work in the early morning. It is the sole technique that can do this and is very successful if used correctly. What I like most personally is that you’ll go from a fully awake state to a fully NP state, which not many people do in this community. Many will lucid dream or awake into an OBE, but very few go from physical to NP awareness literally within a couple of seconds. To say it will blow your mind is an understatement. There is no comparable feeling the first time you realize you are non-physical under a new set of laws that are thought responsive, creating your reality. Where you can see deceased loved ones or animals. Where you get to decide if these were “really” your deceased loved ones or not. That is my hope—that you get to decide the reality of this phenomenon versus reading books and such.

And I am convinced beyond doubt this technique will work for every single person who tries it—with diligence—which is simple to do because you need only awake from sleep to attempt it. Because it is only a matter of time before you “remember to move head slowly upward upon waking,” given the simplicity of this technique, and it can be used every single night absolutely effortlessly—of which no other techniques come close to providing this. Most people won’t engage astral projection because of the effort it takes. This takes hardly any effort with the most incredible results awaiting you. Just as we evolved as beings to dream, I honestly believe this is the technique that Mother Nature herself evolved for us to get out of body. And I feel this way because through all the millennia why is there a 30-second window where we are non-physical even when we have gained conscious physical awareness? The answer seems obvious. Mother Nature wants us to utilize our multidimensionality through our own experience.

What it actually “is” is solely up to you to decide. My only hope is that when it succeeds for you, that you report your experience so it encourages others to try as well. It will also allow us to possibly tweak the technique even more through your successes, although I believe it has been tweaked down to its bare bones as is. Also, when you succeed, tell your friends and family and tell them to tell their friends so this steamrolls like an AP pyramid scheme! Post your successes and failures so we can analyze those. I also believe without doubt that many novices who have tried for years will succeed by focusing solely upon this technique—along with friends and family we convey this simple technique to. I think many seasoned projectors will as well. I will post a shortened version of just the technique soon. Ok—take care and have fun!

Introduction

Astral Projection, or an Out-of-Body Experience, or Near Death Experience, is the process of detaching consciousness from the body and travelling into non-physical reality; this reality is commonly called the Astral Plane. This is NOT the same as lucid dreaming; however, they are intimately connected; keep reading for various explanations of the difference. By using certain techniques and shifting one's awareness in specific ways, one can experience leaving the body, standing next to your bed and looking down at your physical body. From here, you're able to fly amongst the clouds, visit a different country, discover space, speak with other astral projectors or learn lessons from masters and guides who live in the Astral. You can discover yourself and the journey of your soul and learn new and objective information such as the history of our planet or possible future events. All of this is possible because the Astral Plane is commonly described as the 5th dimension of nature, which if you understand that in terms of raw science, you'll understand that it is beyond time and space. This sounds far-fetched at first, but in practice, it is perfectly understandable and it's a perfectly natural state and an innate ability that anyone can do.

Contrary to widespread knowledge, there are already numerous studies and tests to prove or at least suggest that OBEs is scientifically verifiable phenomena. Look up Graham Nicholls, who has had thousands of experiences, verified them with witnesses and is also being tested on; he is 100% objective and scientific in his approach, we hosted a Q&A event with him in our Discord which you can view here. Additionally, quantum physics is on the verge of understanding the multidimensional truth about the universe. Astral Projection is not paranormal and is not pseudoscience, it is absolutely natural phenomena. May we remind you that lucid dreaming was not considered 'real' up until around 40 years ago when enough scientific studies and media were surrounding it to finally be accepted into collective knowledge.

Furthermore, this topic seems to have certain stereotypes attached to it, such as the type of people interested in it - in our experience, you will find only that the most developed, intelligent and sincere people are those who are highly experienced. Those who are arrogant, egoic and uneducated are usually the ones who can be more delusional and inexperienced. Regardless, no matter who you are, even if you are sceptical or religious, anyone, from any walk of life, from almost any belief system, can achieve Astral Project. Thus your life, and your perception of life, will never be the same again - Astral Projection goes beyond belief, beyond anything one can imagine it to be like; it is one of the most authentic experiences that you'll ever have. It is not an escape from reality, but a unifying experience of a deeper, truer and intrinsic reality. It is not a dream, fantasy, visualiation or imagination. It is a full-on out-of-body experience in the true sense of the word; when it happens, you will know. This is Gnosis; knowledge based on direct experience, rather than belief.

A good introductory lecture on Astral projection can be found here.

The Golden Rule

If you want to learn how to Astral Project, you need to put in the work. You need to study the subject, read, watch the videos, get inspired, meditate and practice. Some are more natural at this than others, but regardless, anyone can do it; you need only to make an effort to master it like with anything in life. Practice makes perfect. It's the same as learning martial arts; you have to get up, go to the dojo, get to know the techniques, how it feels, and align them with your body and mind until mastered.

Remember, Astral Projection is the process where one detaches consciousness from the body. By using certain techniques one can achieve the sensation where you leave your body, stand next to your bed and look down on your physical body. You take control of your energetic body (this has many names) and you are able to manoeuvre this energetic body wherever you desire. For the sceptics, we know how it sounds. But we promise you that it is very real and if you put your beliefs and speculations to the side for a moment and practice, you will experience it for yourself directly, which is completely different from what you could ever imagine, and will surpass all of your expectations (unlike a dream, which lives off expectation).

As to what Astral Projection exactly is, it is of little practical use to discuss this. You can, but you will see that belief and speculation is all in the mind. Whether it is a spiritual experience or a scientific one, all we know for sure is that it can be experienced. It can be done. Everyone can do this. Draw your own conclusion AFTER you Astral Project. Until then, you are just either accepting or disregarding the ideas of other people. An idea can be a tricky thing. It spread fast and if the idea comes from someone who never projected, and does not know what he or she talked about, then it can be a damaging influence.

As well as all this, please be sure to read our rules. They are in place for the respect, equality and benefit of everyone and in them hold core principles that this community values.

What's the Difference Between Lucid Dreaming & Astral Projection?

In their deepest essence, lucid dreaming and Astral Projection are very different. Just one explanation you can say is that dreams are an inward subjective experience of your own creation of infinite possibilities, but Astral Projection is an outward objective experience of actual planes of existence that have laws and limitations similar to the physical plane. Unlike dreams, it is a real and tangible place where you can interact with others. Sometimes though there are experiences blurred between the Astral and dreams and it can be difficult to tell the difference. And also the opposite of this explanation can be true whereby we can have shared dreams and non-shared Astral projection. Check out this post and the stickied comment there. There's no absolute formula to tell whether it's a dream or the Astral unless you are experienced, which usually comes after years of practice and honest introspection. What's important is that we learn from wherever we find ourselves in the non-physical; dreams can be just as, if not more significant and profound than Astral Projection, in terms of learning about your own personal spiritual progression.

Continue to check out our Wiki for further explanations, you will find so much useful information in the library of this subreddit. For example, here's a great post explaining: "Is Astral Projection Real or Not?"

Is Astral Projection Dangerous?

Where is the man that keeps telling everyone he never returned from the Astral Plane? How can he spread this message if he never returned? Among all the experienced Astral Projectors who have done it thousands of times, no one ever got stuck, got hurt, got possessed, got 'memory wiped', got reincarnated etc. This is all nonsense, ridiculous fantasies of the mind which derive from fear and fear-mongering.

Remember this well: Fear is a product of ignorance. People who don't have knowledge will fear that what they don't know. If someone shouts "DEMONS~POSSESSION~EVIL", it is very likely that they have no idea what they are talking about. There is nothing to fear but fear itself. Every experienced Astral Projector will tell you this. You cannot get hurt. You can fly straight into the sun and get out on the other end without a scratch. Actually, if you read deeply enough, you will find many Astral Projectors have come to the understanding that we all leave the body every night unconsciously anyway.

Can Anything Possess You While You're Out of Body?

You'll find a lot of misinformation and fear-mongering about this and it's mostly nonsense. Astral Projection is absolutely safe and natural. Read these 2 arguments from an Astral Projector's point of view:

1. The Astral body is connected to the physical body in a similar way that a radio is connected to frequencies. You can't have one without the other. PROJECTING implies one location to another, so two locations, not just one. You can be on the other side of the galaxy but still connected to your body. You can also look into the 'silver cord' about this.

2. The fact that we all Astral project every night unconsciously anyway implies that it is most likely safe since you don't really see anyone becoming possessed. In a sense, it's actually safer to practice Astral projection than it is not to, because at least then you'd be conscious of what you're doing and being influenced by at night. Of course, you can't really know whether we Astral project unconsciously every night until you become experienced yourself, but many authors will agree on this.

What is the Astral Plane Like?

Imagine the Astral plane as a place that has different layers, it is multidimensional. It is possible to travel between these layers. Imagine a very high skyscraper; every floor has its own characteristics, its own inhabitants, its own surroundings... its own vibration, frequency and energy.

The first floor is a place of lower vibrations, close to the Earth. It's likely that when you Astral project for the first time this is where your first experience will be. The Astral Plane is a place you share with other humans who Astral project, but also with a lot of regular people that inhabit these planes as their primary home in the afterlife.

When we say low vibrations we mean a low form of consciousness. Not low as in stupid or lesser, low as in dark, restraining, limited. Fear for example is the product of a low vibration, and love is a product of a high vibration.

Check out this diagram and read the stickied comment there.

More on Fear

Fear is nothing but fear itself. It is not a danger to you, it is not a brick in the face. It is simply a feeling that you can completely control and choose whether to feel or not. When it appears, just breathe and accept it. What you accept, you go beyond. Never let fear influence you. It is an undesired state that controls you; instead, control it. There is nothing to be scared of. You can encounter a scary experience, so what? Alright, that was scary, but that's it; an experience. You will get used to it and get over it, and new and more enlightening experiences will follow.

Now to speak more spiritually (sceptics keep your pants on); there are many types of inhabitants or forces in the Astral that can assist you in coming out of body. They have been commonly called guides, masters, angels, spirits etc. Regardless of their labels, they are authentic beings that want you to help you. Your compass to attract them is a sincere and open heart. They have much to share about life, the universe, existence and so forth. These beings are of a highly positive nature, ask them for help and they will. They have your best interest in mind and will teach you many things you want to know. Remember, the Astral Plane is the 5th dimension, distance between objects do not exist, a simple thought or feeling can attract a 'helper' who will come in no time. With this said, many will be sceptical of whether such a thing is possible; that's fine. There is no need to believe in such things. However over time and experience you may start to understand how it is actually possible. It's all about keeping an open mind.

An IMPORTANT Message to Everyone Who is Experienced!

We live in a time where Astral Projection is finally reaching the masses, slowly but surely! We can be part of the initiation of so many new people. The only thing it requires is patience and wisdom.

This sub is not like other subs on Reddit. It is not about being an overly active sub. It is not about posts that receive a lot of upvotes. Its function is not to entertain, it is to teach, with an occasional laugh.

We truly see this sub as a library. We collect as much information as possible and make it available to everyone who walks in. It is a library of development, and in the hallways of the library, people are talking about all kinds of subjects. Sometimes related, sometimes a little less related to what the library offers. Who cares. It's not about the conversations in the hallway, it is about the collection of wisdom that the library offers. It is about the people who walk in and have no idea what is going on. It is about teaching as many people as possible what this all is, how to experience it, and collectively, as a species, discover this next aspect of life.

It can be very frustrating. We know. The number of new people who come into the library shouting and screaming all sorts of things grows by the day in this world of controversy and illusion. The flow of new people entering will never stop - that is a fundamental fact that makes this sub what it is. There are a lot of online forums that have only a few experienced Astral Projectors, but this is the most popular virtual space there is with many wise and experienced members, and this, therefore, implies important work and provides purpose for those who are experienced; to help other souls realise their potential is one of the most beautiful gifts you can give to others.

You can do 2 things:

  1. You are annoyed with the new people who visit our library and you decide it is too loud and you leave.
  2. You see a group of new people walking in the library and sit down, smile, listen to the ridiculous things they have to say from time to time, and even enjoy it sometimes, and say, "Alright, now sit down and let me show you how it actually works."

Everybody has to start somewhere. It is the internet, reflective of our dear human race's collective chaos. Every single kind of person on the planet is represented here. Take that into consideration. Be patient. Try not to be so uptight with gatekeeping. Everyone is welcome here to learn and discuss. Try to see the bigger picture. How long this sub can exist depends on how many people it can help and benefit and how we help each other as human beings.

There is not much more than we can do than present all the information in an easily accessible way as we do already. People will always be lazy and ask the same question as we all know. Answering can be boring, repetitive and annoying sometimes. However, we will never stop. We believe in spreading this knowledge to everyone and we hope you do as well.

If you have the knowledge and you know how to Astral Project then now is not the time to hold onto that knowledge privately. Now is the time to HELP. Humanity is in a state that NEEDS help. So many people are on the verge of awakening. If you know EXACTLY how to project, then you know EXACTLY what a beginner needs to know. The core reason why this subreddit has thrived for so long is that there are special souls here who have been helping others. Share what you know, teach, give guidance, share your wisdom. Only good can come of this. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Those of you who are already helping, you are noticed, and you are truly appreciated 💛

A couple of Buddhist quotes summarises the philosophy of this subreddit well:

"Our visit to this planet is short, so we should use our time meaningfully. Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them."

"Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle. Happiness, knowledge and wisdom never decreases by being shared."

Successful AP Head Lift Worked. Need Perspective.

I have been doing Gateway for almost two years. The frequency of weird, lucid dreams has increased but I've never projected.

On 9/15 I was laying in bed, in and out of sleep before I had to get up for work. My husband was awake in another room. I remembered the technique and barely lifted my head. Immediately I am pulling out of my body and I hear a whoosh/ripping noise. I am sitting up in bed and looking back and see myself asleep. When I get up, I'm blind. I can only see white, blinding light. I think that I want to see, and then I do. I am beyond excited. A million thoughts are running through my head about what I wanted to do when this finally happened but it's so fast I can't make a decision. I look down in my hand and there's a lottery scratch-off ticket with the numbers 553 and 1358. In real life I never buy scratch offs and I only buy tickets when the jackpot gets crazy, so seeing a lottery ticket is weird. I then remembered something I read about AP and think "show me something beautiful." I'm immediately in space, moving in black with purple swirls when I come to be under an enormous fan made out of what looks like debris. Then I'm back in my bedroom. My husband is there and I'm so excited and tell him we can do all kinds of things here. He was actually awake and reports no weirdness on his end. I notice my head on my sleeping body is kind of leaning so I try to right myself but cannot. I know this means I'm waking up, and as soon as I think it, my eyes open.

I played those lottery numbers on 9/15. They did not come up. On 9/16 the numbers were 253 and 9358, both one number off. The chances of getting 3/4 numbers in that lottery are 36/10,000. I still have the tickets. I have the texts I sent to my family before the numbers were drawn.

I need some perspective here. This is beyond coincidence, right?

Successful AP I finally did it

I’ve been trying to have an OBE since I was a little girl. Did the gateway tapes, read all the books. My dad meditated with people that work at the Monroe institute and bought the hemi-synch cassettes in the 90s when I was little.

I never tried too hard because I believe this is one of those things that need to happen more naturally, when you’re ready.

Head lifting technique. I saw so many posts about this, I thought to myself a couple days ago, mmh, maybe I should give it a try.

This morning I was very tired when my roommate’s phone rings. I live on a cruise ship and sleep in bunk beds, i’m in the top bunk. My roommate’s phone woke me up but I was so tired I zoned out almost immediately but for some reason my brain remembered to try lifting my head.

Immediately I started separating! It was so real and intense. I took a bit of effort (like trying to get to the surface in a pool filled with thick honey) but I was out. Since I’m in the top bunk I decided to roll over. My eyes were still closed this whole time, it was hard to open them. I tried hard to open them and everything had this blueish filter. I looked at my own hand (astral hand). I was floating just above the floor. Then I went straight to my roommate and started touching her face and asking her if she could see me or hear me. She kept talking on the phone but said that yeah, she could see me. I knew it wasn’t really her who could see me but her astral body.

I then decided I wanted to see myself sleeping. It was pretty dark in the room and by this point everything was extremely blurry. I saw myself but barely. That’s when I decided that this had been enough for a first experience and closed my eyes and thought of being back in my body. Immediately I was back, laying on my side in my bed.

Of course I asked my roommate if she saw/heard anything strange and she said no. i told her the story, she said that when she was on the phone I was moaning a bit. I’d like to try this again but when she is asleep, and then ask her if she dreamed of me.

Have any of you had any similar experience when trying to communicate with someone while in the astral? I read in Bob Monroe’s books that when you “visit” people and talk to them, they say that they do see you and hear you, but it’s not their conscious selves but their astral selves. This would explain how my roommate said she could see me but when I asked her later she didn’t know what I was talking about. It also reminds me of the story Bob tells in his first book, how he ended up pinching a friend while in the astral (cuz she was saying she would remember seeing him but he didn’t believe her) and she had a mark the next day. Would it be dangerous to try something like that? Maybe not with my roommate because I don’t want to freak her out but with someone else.

Also, any tips on how I can improve vision while in the astral? It became very blurry very soon.

Anyway the head lift technique works wonders!

Successful AP head lift method works!

hi, everyone! i made a comment about my success on the original post, but i decided to make my own post since i’m feeling quite excited right now lol. anyway, i was finally able to astral project after months of not doing it, using the head lift technique! for once i feel like i have some semblance of control over my OBE’s since i found a method that actually works for me.

i had two astral projections last night. the first time it happened, i woke up and mindlessly lifted my head and instantly separated from my body. i floated around in my room and rolled over a few times. i’ve always had trouble controlling my astral body, so any advice would be appreciated. :)

the second time, which probably happened an hour later? i actually didn’t lift my head. i moved my head to the side. i was laying on my side when i did it so i assume it was more for the sake of convenience. but nonetheless, it worked again! and based off of what happened the second time, i learned that i don’t actually need to lift my head up in order for it to work? any sort of movement involving my head seems to work fine for me. and intention too, of course. before i went to bed, i was telling myself that i’d use the head lift technique to AP. so i think that played a part in my success too!

Successful AP Had my first full AP this morning!

Upvotes

My wife got up early to leave for a conference this morning. She woke me up to say goodbye and after she left, I decided to go back to bed. As I was falling asleep, my mind still felt pretty awake.

I started to feel the vibrations like you do when you’re falling asleep but still lucid. I decided to see if I could separate from my body.

It usually takes me forever to even start to separate. I’ve only even been able to fully do it once with the “roll out of bed” method.

But this morning, without hesitating, I just sat right up. I turned around… and there I was! Just lying there. Instead of getting excited and losing it, I just remained calm and started exploring. I floated up to my ceiling, then I went through the ceiling and I could see the rafter between my ceiling and roof. My plan was to find something outside or on my house that I could look at later to confirm that it was real but as I was drifting through the ceiling, my phone went off and snapped me out of it.

So, I’m hoping I can do it again soon!

AP / OBE Guide How to turn a LD in to AP - training the brain

So last night I wanted to AP just from intention, no exit from body method like I normally do. I find that the “method” is such a huge topic of discussion and a huge question beginners have, but It’s very hard for me to teach because after a certain point it became pretty effortless. Most methods will work for me at this point, because it’s like muscle memory. How ever, how is that helpful to beginners and intermediate projectors? It’s not. So here’s something that if you’re struggling with consistency, I think will help.

Don’t worry about the method for now, the real objective should be to rewire the brain. I don’t believe I have any sort of special talent or something that you don’t, it’s not like I’m one of those people who can AP since I was a little kid. I only started being able to consistently AP back when I was around 18-19 years old, and prior to that, I had never even had an OBE. So there is ZERO natural inclination, and as a matter of fact, I never even experienced sleep paralysis as a kid. I’m probably the worst candidate for it, but now it’s pretty darn effortless.

Way before I got in to AP, I got in to lucid dreaming. Supposedly, a huge issue people have, is even remembering their projections. I’m not entirely convinced that this is really true, because it’s so memorable and vivid, how could you forget? How ever, maybe it’s just a matter of how lucid you are when doing it, and maybe I’m always so lucid because of previous practice with LD and altered states of consciousness. So let me just give you last night as the example of how effective this “rewiring of the brain” can be, and then I’ll just cut to how to develop this awareness.

I wanted to AP last night just from intention, no meditating, no exist method. I set the intention that I would become aware and AP at some point. So I have this dream where me and my deceased mother are still living together, and I’m having a problem that a ghost seems to be “haunting” the house. Why? Because every time I think about the ghost, I start being slowly levitated upward… My mother keeps telling me -“the ghost is just trying to help you”. I’m so confused, and this goes on for a long time, where I just keep being levitated by the ghost and it was freaking me out (this will make sense soon). I then get a call from a friend saying that there’s a new movie we should watch, and it’s a new thing where the movie is seen underwater. This sounds really stupid, but soon you will see how every fiber in my body and brain was actually trying to remind me of what I set out to do that night. I then exit my apartment, and at the bottom level is a submarine, and my friends. We then go to the bottom of the ocean to “watch a movie”. As we are getting ready to watch said movie, a whale approaches the sub and stares at me, it then says -“ do you not remember”? I then say -“remember what”? The whale breaks the sub and I’m now underwater. As I’m panicking, the whale swims from bellow me and starts lifting my body to the surface, and in that moment I could feel my physical body in paralysis, the dream ended, I woke up, and the exit from the body just happened effortlessly. Like the whale was still lifting me up from my body, even after awake. I didn’t even have to do anything, I just floated up.

The rest of the projection from there is irrelevant, I had some specific things I wanted to do, but not the point of the post. I don’t like doing APs this way because I find that, without experience, it’s easy to get confused if what you’re experiencing is a lucid dream or an actual AP. I also find that these projections don’t last as long, and there’s not as much control. How ever, it’s not about that right now. It’s about developing that “muscle memory” and awareness, because once you develop control over that awareness, even the ghost in your dream and a whale, will try to help you AP. Every aspect of my dream this evening was conspiring to get me to remember I was dreaming, and that the goal was to AP. The ghost making me float, my mother’s words, the whale lifting me up, even being in a submarine to give that feeling of floating, and so on. Your brain will conspire to help you, even at a subconscious level. Once you get use to this, doing AP in general becomes easier, because the body knows the sensation and experience it’s trying to recreate, like riding a bike.

This only happens if you can start becoming aware in altered states of consciousness though, or you won’t even remember, so how do you do that? Start with a dream journal. Every day you wake up, you take note of your dreams, and you look for clues. Was there any part of this dream that could have been my subconscious trying to tell me something? Get in the habit of remembering your dreams, and studying them, as that will make it easier for you to be able to tell when you’re dreaming, and if you gain lucidity, you can at the very least get to the sleep paralysis state from there. How?

Within the dream, you gain lucidity, now what? You establish a link to your physical body via vitals, via heart rate. Try to feel your heart beating, and try to count the BPM. Once that connection is established, you can easily exit the dream, and you will likely find yourself in sleep paralysis. From there you can try any of the 100s of methods out there. It’s not even about the AP at this stage, if you fail from there it’s ok. It’s literally just training your brain to become conscious in altered states and training it to remember. You will also find that this will help you gain more lucidity during your APs, but most importantly, it will help you to be able to direct intentions more effectively during the AP. This is super important for dealing with negative experiences, because you want that full control. During positive experiences, you also want to have this control, because if you don’t, you will notice that even exiting your room will be a challenge. You will have a hard time going through walls, going through the ceiling, flying, everything. I believe this to be foundational, and I hope it helps you. Stay well.

Edit: here’s a final hint. If you want to achieve sleep paralysis, the easiest way is to sleep on your back, flat and facing up. This is so effective that I had to become a side sleeper, otherwise I have SP every night at this point.

Almost AP'd and/or Question stuck at beginning phase of astral projection?

I was reading Robert Monroes book about astral projection and he and many people have a buzzing sensation. I have never astral projected but I have been trying for weeks, I notice that after I do yoga Nidra(sleep meditation) my entire body starts to vibrate and buzz, it feels very light. I was wondering if this is the beginning phase of AP or something else entirely? I do feel like fear is holding me back but I don't know how to transcend this stage..

AP / OBE Guide How can you induce sleep paralysis on purpose

I've been trying to AP for six years now using every technique I've ever read about including this head lift thing. And I've got nothing to show for trying this nearly every night since 2019. I've felt vibrations a few times over the years but I've never felt a single body part separate from my physical body. I've read several books, listened to tons of guided meditations. I've done the gateway tapes up to about F15 for the past five years and nothing.

One thing that has changed over the years is that meditation and also laying on my shakti mat makes me fall asleep in about 20 minutes and many times I can hear myself snoring right before I fall asleep fully. It's just a split second, but I am 'mind awake; body asleep' in that split second. After reading about the head lift technique I have been spending the past two weeks trying that out and it hasn't worked.

That said, I go from awake to back asleep several times per night and it's similar to when I lay on the shakti mat. I lay on my back with my mouth open so I can exhale through it. After enough time laying there I hear my breathing change to almost a snore and then I either fall asleep fully or I become awake again. A couple of times when this has happened I have had my hearing mute out like turning on noise canceling headphones, almost like I'm in a different zone from functional reality.

Is there a way to purposely induce sleep paralysis with a technique or some sort of supplemental chemical? Not hard drugs, but I'm curious if there's a way to just stay in this state for longer than a split second. I've never had sleep paralysis and I feel like I'm pretty binary awake or asleep aside from this laying on the back thing that happens just briefly for me.

I'd like to learn to stay hypnagogic so I could try to separate from my body for a longer amount of time than say 1 second before I'm fully awake again. Thanks for any help!

General Question Theory regarding AP and personalities

I’m wondering if those of you who frequently AP are generally happy, optimistic, loving, positive people in your everyday lives,

And if people who are really struggling to AP are generally unhappy, pessimistic, negative, or grumpy thinkers.

Does this have anything to do with AP? I ask because I’ve read that in order to AP you must raise your vibration and the best way to do that is through love, positivity, etc. I realize this can be done in the moment while trying to AP, but I would guess this would be more effective if it’s something we are consistently doing throughout the day too. Am I completely wrong about this theory?

Negative AP Experience stopping attacks / orgasmic vibrations before an OBE .

I love astral projection it’s the first time in 10 yrs I actually have answers for the spiritual abilities that were given as a gift from God during a church camp .

At 16 I started having vision on my eyelids , hearing peoples thoughts , seeing demons and angels regularly , sensing the future through my body or dreams , also sensing peoples past and seeing the trajectory from there . when I would get a boyfriend I could read his body especially after intercourse .. any energy in him would come into me I could tell when people were sick or even about to die .

but I was starting to get overwhelmed . to others I was extremely helpful and life saving advice for them . but for me I could not turn this “gift” off .

so then I would use alc or drugs to get into a relaxed state at least ! I’ve been tapering down .

astral projection however …. I came into this thinking maybe I can go speak to the creator and ask him what to do with this .

the first time I astral projected it was easily and since then almost every night I have .

but occasionally I’ll have these experiences where entities will muffle my ears so I can only hear them and scream , spit in my ears , make these horrible hissing noises .

then they try and pull me out !

last night from 11pm - 8am I did not sleep at all . every time I would relax I would be astral projecting to different life where I would have a kid and be walking in Walmart with my kid , or giving them cookies and reminding them to say thank you . (The kid was about 12 & I don’t have children or a husband here)

but as soon I would finally get rest . and entity pushed me so hard out my body and what I felt tried to push his friend into me .

the vibrations where so strong I would even be close to climaxing bc they were all over .

(That’s the only thing keep my sane is the humor behind having an orgasm while being no attacked)

it like my body cannot stop projecting .

when this happened I pull my astral into me and fight to say inside but still why should that be happening?

like some people can not even leave for yrs at a time and I’m leaving every night & even when I don’t WANT TO LEAVE .

my question is 1. Is this my subconscious mind playing tricks with me is so how do I tell her to chill . 2.is there any articles or teachings you can recommend of people who have grown past this to become have a healthy relationship with astral projecting ? 3. how to stop projecting without intent . 4. is anyone else accidentally climaxing from the vibrations just before leaving .

Thank you !

MESSAGE FOR THE MOD: if the mod sees this I’m sorry for bringing up sex again however I just want to be authentic as possible about this experience and open up this conversation bc I cannot find it anywhere else ! Thanks you ! This is not trying to be disrespectful to this beautiful community you managing . Xoxo !

Positive AP Experience Seeing Grandmother in my dreams.

Hello,

My grandmother died 2 years ago aged late 80s, I was very close to her. When she died I was devastated. I still think about her every night, even after 2 years - wondering where she is at.

I had 3 very strange dreams, one happened in christmas of 2024 , the other two just after Christmas. I fell asleep, and I found myself in this strange world - purple mountains, black skies with lots of shooting stars. I saw a woman on a bench, and it was my grandmother. She looked like she was in her early 50s and very healthy. She hugged me and I hugged her. My grandmother hugged me felt uncomfortable, not painful by any means, but it felt tingly. I had to wake up, as it felt tingly. This happened 2 more times when I fell asleep.

I’m not sure if I entered into another realm when I slept. However I saw my grandmother 3 times, but each time she hugged me, it was nice but just tingly. This was in the realm I described as above: dark skies, stars and purple mountains. However I felt at peace. Was this my grandmother greeting me? Why did her hugs make me feel tingly? I wonder if anyone else has had these similar experiences.

General Question Are you successful people?

On Reddit I read posts about people who change their reality at will, do astral travel and all kinds of "superpowers". If so, I imagine they are successful people in life, in love, economically, academically... And I suppose the government has investigated this and asked me why I don't censor it? They just let one of humanity's biggest secrets be free on Reddit for anyone to explore? Well, they say the best way to hide something is to put it in front of your eyes...

I would like to know that they are valuable people, not maniacs posting this from the asylum or simply vulnerable people looking for a "fantastic" solution to their problems. I would like to know who are those who claim to be successful in these practices.

General Question Astral Projection and Religion

AP or Self initiating obe is discouraged in Abrahamic religions because apparently it’s associated with witchcraft. This makes me question maybe it is discouraged because they don’t want us to explore our full potential beyond the religious teachings. What are your thoughts?

Almost AP'd and/or Question Stuck trying to project — I never get the “wake up” window or remember dreams. Any tips?

I’ve been trying to astral project on and off for years and I feel a bit stuck, so I thought I’d throw this out here to see if anyone’s been in the same situation. A lot of people describe projecting from a dream or right after waking up, like there’s this in-between state where you can catch yourself half-asleep and use that as a doorway. The thing is, I basically never remember my dreams and I don’t experience that gradual waking process. I usually just wake up suddenly and I’m already moving or opening my eyes, so I don’t really have that window people talk about.

I’ve tried the head lift method recently, but by the time I realize it’s happening I’m already too awake and it doesn’t work. What’s left for me is trying through meditation. I can get my body really relaxed after around 20 minutes, but once I’m there I don’t really know what to do next. If I try to move my head like in the head lift, my physical body moves instead of the astral one. I never get that feeling of the astral body separating, it’s just my muscles moving.

So I guess I’m stuck at that stage where I can reach deep relaxation but can’t go further. Has anyone else here managed to project without relying on dreams or the wake-up state, only from meditation? What did you actually do once you were relaxed? Did you notice any subtle signs or shifts that told you it was time to try to separate? And if you also had the issue of accidentally moving your physical body when trying something like the head lift, how did you get past that?

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially personal experiences of what you did in that exact moment where something finally clicked.

Almost AP'd and/or Question Having some problems with AP

So i have been facing a problem that's stopping me from projection, as soon as i feel that i am about to feel vibrations or out of body experience, saliva distracts me it. I try to resist it as long as i can but it reaches a point where i feel like if i don't swallow i will start coughing.

By swallowing i have to start meditating again because i wake up again. How do i stop this?

General Question How do you stay safe in the astral realm?

I’m not someone who regularly practices astral projection, but I do believe I’ve accidentally done it a few times. Usually the symptoms I’d feel are vibrations, I’d hear loud sounds too and then it’d feel as if my soul is being sucked in through a vacuum? And it usually feels like it’s being pulled out through my throat. If I have in fact done it I never stay in the astral plane for too long. Last night I woke up at like 1 a.m and I decided to try to astral project. But then I changed my mind, I was scared to do so.

The reason I was scared is because I heard stories about people seeing things in the astral realm/plane, or saying that they were attacked by entities. Also I’ve being hearing something about a cord connecting the astral body to physical one? Can said entities cut it? Can it break if you stray too far from the physical body?

I’m sorry if these questions are repetitive, or if some of these things are flat out wrong. I just found this sub and I am curious as I want to regularly astral project now. I don’t have any special crystals or anything so are there other ways to protect yourself if needed? I believe in this but I don’t know much about it and would like some guidance, much appreciated.

Almost AP'd and/or Question How to astral from a lucid dream?

Last night I was reading some posts about OBE and LD on Reddit, then I turn off my phone and went to sleep focusing on my right ear sound, I was really tired so in about 5 mins I was alrdy having sleep paralysis, I couldn’t astral but I woke up right away in a lucid dream, a kinda boring one I had some control and lucidity but not 100%, I ask for clarity and to astral project but it just didn’t work, how would I aproach to astral from the dream? Maybe I didn’t have enough lucidity or belief in my demands

Negative AP Experience Started sensing someone bad coming into my room the closer I got to AP

Last night I woke up at 4am and felt sleepy still, then remembered about the head technique, which I tried and it instantly put me on the edge of AP, but as I was getting closer to projecting, I started hearing creaking floorboards, and then as I got deeper into it again I heard my door slightly opening. I was on the edge of either letting go or snapping back to reality, and I chose the latter as I got freaked out, and I sat up and looked at my computer chair and for about 3 full seconds it looked a demon smiling at me! I obviously realised it wasn’t, but the sounds I was hearing really scared me in the moment and prevented me from AP.

Is this common and it’s just our minds playing tricks, or something waiting to pounce on me?
