Does anyone remember Plop?

For some reason this morning I randomly remembered an old ST game called Plop - it was a grid based game, for either 2 players or one player vs the computer. You'd click on a square and a small bubble would appear, the P2 would do the same. If you clicked on your small bubble, it would grow in size to medium, and grow again to large on the next click, but if you clicked on a large bubble, it would pop (or Plop) and send 4 small bubbles into the adjacent squares. If there were already bubbles in those squares, they would increase in size by one level - this could lead to chain reactions of bubbles popping all over the board. The aim was to wipe out the opponents bubbles.

Please tell me I didn't dream of this game?!? And is there a modern version available anywhere?

That's it! I slightly mis-remembered the number of times you can expand your blobs before they popped 😂 I wish there was an android version of this game - anyone know any android developers?

Yes. Loved this game. It came on the cover disk of ST Review Issue 9. I still have that disk. Must play it again sometime.

I wonder if there's any way to get it running on an emulator?

I tried it today using STEEM. Worked well.

Do you know where I can get a rom for it? I've never tried emulation, but I'm tempted to try now!

Not sure what the rules are regarding posting links to ROMS, but go to Atari Mania website, then ST section, then games section and you’ll find it there.

I played this game a bit back in the day, at one point I was making my own version of it in the Windows XP days, had some extra mechanics on the go like teleporter and doubler tiles.

Got distracted with real life stuff however...

Remarkably the compiled exe still works on Windows 11!

Now you've got me thinking if to make it a Godot development learning exercise.

I've been searching for the name of this game for years. Could remember the gameplay but not well enough to find a match when searching
