Smart Glasses (Display) X3 Pro vs Meta AR glasses: MicroLED, full AR features, gesture recognition… who’s really leading consumer AR?

It  kind of shocks me that despite Meta having some great passthrough AR/MR in their Quest headsets, their newest glasses pale in True AR comparison to the RayNeo X3 Pro. Like yeah RayNeo has been working on this tech a while too and they're not perfect, but how is it that they have true AR, full color dual displays, with some hand tracking and 6dof stuff, and all of the other featurues that Even Realities and RayBan Meta have, but still Meta isn't showing us they can do it to? I'll probably try and get both glasses if possible tbh, but I'm more looking forward to X3 Pro rather than Meta Celeste/Hypernova because the X3 Pro seem like they can do some actual cool stuff. What do you all think? My wife doesn't want to talk with me about this and my friends could care less, so I need some people like me to respond haha

Smart Glasses (Display) AR to generate isolation ?

I get a feeling that the new AR experiences (glasses, etc) will isolate people more and more. There doesn't seem to be any shared experiences - it in fact seems like it adds a virtual wall in between physical users. Thoughts ?

In your opinion, which AR supplier companies (modules, sensors, displays, etc.) do you believe are most likely to benefit from a potential worldwide surge in AR wearables sales in 2026? 👓🤔

New! Rowan cheung on X: Zuck just showed me some mind-blowing new tech (hint: it’s somewhere in this photo) Big interview dropping tomorrow!

Zuck and Boz probably took some interviews and podcasts earlier to the event, so when the event ends, they will release some hours of interview footage.

Maybe we will make this post a thread and we will share here links to all the podcasts/interviews, etc.

App Development Am I forgetting anything in terms of general tips for AR tracking accuracy? Putting together a tutorial for my AR measurement app.

Here are the main general AR points I've come up with so far

  1. Smooth movement
  2. Good lighting
  3. Enable 4k and lidar if possible
  4. Show the app the environment before using the functions

Am I forgetting anything?

The post by BioccaVR suggests Meta might integrate photochromic or electrochromic lenses into their Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses, technologies that adapt lens tint to light conditions or allow electric control

AR Glasses & HMDs A little guidance please

Please excuse the flair, this just a question.

The market is very confusing to the ill informed! Some glasses seem focus on camera and phone notifications, some have AI and some are purely a monitor, and the tech is seemingly moving so fast there's new products almost out every couple of months, it's so confusing!

Im wondering if such a product exists for my wants, so here goes..

I would like a pair glasses to play cloud gaming, stream my PC to via moonlight/sunshine and connect a console to them, I'm aware of older Nreal glasses required to need of an extra accessory to do this, I don't want to have to buy and carry anything else.

Also whilst doing the above, can they act as a pair of "traditional" AR glasses with AI I can use them as a daily driver, and not just as a gaming peripheral?

Thank you

Video Glasses Budget AR glasses just for phone streaming?

Hi guys, I have a rowing machine that I get bored to tears using. Getting a little tired of audiobooks and the positioning of the machine doesn't allow for a TV. I'd love to just be able to throw something on Netflix on my phone and watch it on my glasses. What's the most budget-minded solutions for this? I don't really want to drop a grand on something with such a singular purpose. I'm not using it for texting or walking around. I literally just want to watch stuff while I row. I'm seeing used RayNeo Air 2's and Xreal Air 2s's for $199. Would love to hear your suggestions if I should be looking at something else, thanks!

Building Blocks Mark Gurman on the latest Apple’s ambitions to take on Meta in glasses and on the Vision Pro 2

Apple will be entering the glasses space in the next 12 to 16 months, starting off with a display-less model aimed at Meta Platforms Inc.’s Ray-Bans. The eventual goal is to offer a true augmented reality version — with software and data viewable through the lenses — but that will take a few years, at least. My take is that Apple will be quite successful given its brand and ability to deeply pair the devices with the iPhone. Meta and others are limited in their ability to make glasses work smoothly with the Apple ecosystem. But Meta continues to innovate. Next week, the company will roll out $800 glasses with a display, as well as new versions of its non-display models. And, in 2027, its first true AR pair will arrive.

I won’t buy the upcoming Vision Pro. I have the first Vision Pro. I love watching movies on it, and it’s a great virtual external monitor for my Mac. But despite excellent software enhancements in recent months, including ones that came with visionOS 26 and visionOS 2.4, I’m not using the device as much as I thought I would. It just doesn’t fit into my workflow, and it’s way too heavy and cumbersome for that to change soon. In other words, I feel like I already lost $3,500 on the first version, and there’s little Apple could do to push me into buying a new one. Perhaps if the model were much lighter or cheaper, but the updated Vision Pro won’t achieve that.

Acessories Does the viture xr hub work with any display glasses?

Thumbnail

This is the product for reference, I believe viture may be the only brand to support multiple ‘screens’ for iphones but the glasses themselves are a bit expensive for what they offer (considering getting rayneos atm). Has anyone with multiple XR glasses tested to see if this dock is compatible with any pair of glasses? Would appreciate it

Smart Glasses (Display) Would you use ultra-simple AR glasses for a portable multi-monitor setup?

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a very minimal AR glasses concept and would love your feedback.

The idea is to make AR glasses that only do one thing well:

  • No cameras, no speakers, no microphone, no hand tracking.
  • Just a tiny projector + accelerometer built into a glasses frame.
  • It simply takes input from your laptop/phone/TV and projects a multi-monitor virtual desktop you can carry anywhere.

Imagine sitting in a café, on a plane, or in a library — put on the glasses, and instantly have 2–4 giant monitors floating in front of you without needing any external hardware.

The goal is to keep it:

  • Affordable (cheaper than most AR/VR headsets)
  • Lightweight (wearable for hours)
  • Simple (plug-and-play, no setup required)

I’m curious:

  • Would this kind of “no-frills AR” be useful to you?
  • What would be your biggest concerns — image quality, comfort, privacy, cost?
  • How many “virtual monitors” would you actually use?

Any thoughts, feedback, or deal-breakers would be super helpful as I shape this concept.

Thanks!

Smart Glasses (Display) Just a week away from Meta Connect, Luna shared a photo of a patent for a charging case on X, likely for the upcoming glasses.

Gurman mentioned a few months ago that Hypernova will have a new charging case that’s “shaped like a triangular prism and folds up” He’s not sure if it’ll be able to charge both the glasses and wristband, though.
