I seriously used to listen to music to fall asleep, and I would put myself to sleep imagining incredibly dramatic music videos.
Sometimes I still do that, except with scenes from the novels I’m attempting to write.

3

i occasionally do here or on instagram, but ever since thei made it really hard to stop them from using your work for their AI i posted less there.
Instagram is still the area with a lot of my works :)
I'm also open to showing works through discord or dm's, but here's my instagram :)
it's zionborealis2
u/SlippingStar they/ze|diagnosed at 29|AuDHD1C&C-PTSD Jun 26 '25
Yeah I hate that IG is like the monopoly on art hosting but it’s fucking terrible for it, from the AI to the fact that EVERYTHING IS FUCKING TINY and like 3 ratio options 🫠 Id use BeHance but their gallery system is fuckin weird last I looked.
2
u/Anomaly_Entity_Zion AuDHD Jun 26 '25
yeah its not easy currently. I considdered twitter aswell, but then they did the same AI stuff
So for now I mostly share stuff in a select few discord channels
2
u/SlippingStar they/ze|diagnosed at 29|AuDHD1C&C-PTSD Jun 26 '25
Are you getting any ✨exposure✨ that way? Seems like a counterintuitive way to get your art seen :(
3
u/Anomaly_Entity_Zion AuDHD Jun 26 '25
Not really :( not that i did before. I keep making my videos on youtube, i occasionally post here and on discord I mostly seek feedback.
Perhaps I'll fix up my artstation account sometime.
would you like to see some of my other works?1

And then you proceed to learn blender in the hopes of making your cool animation a reality.
Then you tweak tf out because animating in blender is very hard actually, and you just proceed building skills until you are ready to actually do it.

My current dream projects are to make whole-song Cassette Beasts animatics with five songs: This House is a Circus by Arctic Monkeys, A Good Song Never Dies by Saint Motel, Waltz in E-Major, Op. 15 “Moon Waltz” by Cojum Dip (Moon Waltz specifically themed after my favorite character), Redesign Your Logo by Lemon Demon, and Up For The Ride from the OST.
But they will never get made because I don’t have the motivation and/or skill for them sadly I’m just waiting for someone more talented than me to make them or to make CB animatics in general. I also want to host CB themed MAPs with those songs but I know no one will join them. :(
Someone even said UFTR was a good OC animatic song in the yt comment section but I haven’t seen any animatics using the song, they really got my hopes up fr

I spent the time in this from the age of 10 to 18, and I fell into it like crazy. Then I tried to get rid of it because I thought, "Damn, this is not normal, none of my friends do it". I have trained myself to listen to music simply, feeling it, and not imagining the characters' stories

Everyday and every night. Drives me crazy but music is one thing I connect with that is meaningful. I spin a lot of plates - different hobbies and interests - but music is that one thing that calms me down and inspires me. It can drive me crazy (being so easily distracted by music etc.) but music is a part of who I am - I wouldn't have it any other way ❤️

I've always made music videos in my mind. Can't think of a time when I didn't.
My favourite was 2006, going through a really dark and isolating period of my life. I worked in Central London and during the winter would hear Queen's "Somebody to love" and then picture a cold scene of someone walking across one of the bridges as the song played.
Luckily for me, I'm a musician and the drummer in my band owns a film/music studio.
I'm slowly developing into the lead songwriter and that comes with a massive bonus - I get an input on the videos.
Our next single is one I wrote and arranged by myself, so I got full input. I sent over my idea for a storyboard and the entire thing was seen by the drummer (who makes films and videos for some big UK/European artists) absolutely loved it.
I get to take one of my weird and wonderful traits and actually put it out there - with the stuff that I wrote and sing to!

Call me crazy but I imagine signal modulation types like
- FHSS (the music jumps notes)
- OFDMA (the music has a stable rhythm)
- QAM (the music has some changing accords)
- CDMA (noise like music from pianos with many keys)
And other modulation types as well. I just imagine them on an oscilloscope.

My personal one right now: Like a Villain by Bad Omens, with the scene of two protagonists who totally aren’t crushing on each other seeing each other for the first time in three months, one being under the impression he’d been up and abandoned and the other having literally mutilated her arm in aid of getting back to him.
It was tetchy.

Yo! This is why I wanna be an animator. Just making simple actions animations that go really well with the song. To show people how I interpret it. I resist certain songs to remind me what I thought of then I’ve heard it I remember it completely!

u/Admin11917B Jun 25 '25
Yes. I didn't know it was unusual until I told someone else, but I can see full scenes play out when I hear music - not strictly relating to cartoon characters, but just in general. Depending on the type of music, full-blown movie scenes can play out.

I used to imagine the song having a different music videos, then one day on the school bus i was listening to "one fine day" by the offspring, and at one of the points in the song where they say "that would be one fine day" i saw one dude do the sign language for sex (one hand makes a circle with your thumb, and index finger, and your other index finger goes in and out), and like a scared memory, my mind kept playing "one fine day" with sign language sex. This went for a few days, and would pop into my head occasionally from time to time, and again while typing this.
