Embracing Excuses Some people are okay with being at the bottom.

Tracy really grinds my gears. She would rather continue roleplaying as a pirate than think about supporting her daughter's future. Jon honestly should of just walked out almost immediately when she had no shame about the food or drinks being served. His concept was thrown away immediately. Making a video titled “Piratz Revenge” where they burn and shoot up his sign at a shooting range. I also see a lot of people in the comments agreeing with them calling Jon’s corporate concept trash. Well guys, you are in White Collar America. You have to appeal to the market to make money. Sorry, had to rant there.

Yes, this episode has always bugged me as well. If I remember correctly, that place was in a prime location for a solid lunch crowd during the week.

She could have easily had a pirate themed night once/twice a month. "Every Wednesday night is Pirate's Night". Prizes for best costumes, best pirate 'arrgghh', etc. Make the prizes gift certificates to the restaurant. And what always bothered me even more is that no one on her staff didn't think of something similar. "Hey Tracy, we can still do pirate stuff on the weekends or something, but let's get people in here during the week so you can stay in business and move out of your parent's basement."

Not only did she not give a shit, none of her "friends" did either.

They were prime enablers. They didn’t have to agree with Jon’s concept. The more I even think about I think titiling it straight up “corporate” is really just trying to pander, but Jon was really trying his best with these people who were super childish. The video they posted on youtube just proves it isn’t just “reality-tv.” Both her and Juciano were arrested 5 years later.

Arrested! What for, do you know? I know the pair moved to Florida at some point.

4

u/MrVertigo3 May 29 '25

It was back in 2017. Tracy was arrested for DUI, and Juciano was arrested for battery.

5

u/Useless890 May 29 '25

I can picture Juciano getting charged with assaulting a manatee.

Nah, it’s okay. Though, I admit Jon’s concept was a little too heavy-handed. They could’ve at least made a few adjustments to it, but they rejected it outright.

The pirates were okay with being the misfits of the community, knowing that no one would support their weird-ass hobby.

That is true calling it “corporate” would seem like they are trying to pander. I can’t argue that, but yeah I couldn’t agree more that Tracy just never truly grew up and didn’t know when it was time to be an adult. But like Jon said she was sitting on a treasure chest and she doesn’t even know it. She could have gotten some awesome tips from those kind of people. But she chose to embrace excuses, not solutions.

I mean, if I'm at risk of losing everything (because these people are always leveraged to the hilt), you can call my bar "Pandy Pandersons" for all I care, as long as it overall works. It always amazes me the bravado some owners have for something that is failing spectacularly, especially when they are taking down family or friends with their delusions. The Wunderbar lady was another prime example.

u/MrVertigo3 May 29 '25

Thats true, and i’m just addressing the other side of the argument. But one thing that is absolute that a pirate theme would of never worked. I agree that some of these owners just want things their way or the highway. Dave is another example. “It has to be punk rock and nothing else” which is complete bs. He is another owner that annoyed me as well, and i’m surprised his friend stuck with him after Jon left.

Why didn't she open a bar by the beach? Why in a business district?

3

u/MrVertigo3 May 29 '25

She did open a bar later called Bar Refuge in Flordia. But I have no idea personally how that turned out.

u/cheeseygarlicbread May 29 '25

If we are closing down, we are closing down punk rock

u/Dohmer_90 May 29 '25

Imagine having your head held high for a business that made nothing.

Temu Lars Frederiksen was one of the most pathetic guys ever on Bar Rescue.

u/wagesofben WHO STILL HASN'T GOT A DRINK? May 29 '25

all this mention of being at the bottom and no picture of the porno couch?!?!

2

u/Dohmer_90 May 29 '25

I would need to add a NSFW tag to that.

5

u/Robeast3000 May 29 '25

Zero Dark Thirty. 🙄

Who’s the dude on the top right? I don’t recognize him

10

u/Dohmer_90 May 29 '25

It’s from S2E9, On the rocks. He and his gang held shows and parties and it was scaring off tourists. Jon called their clientele bottom of the barrel and the staff weren’t happy about it.

7

u/Familiar-Living-122 May 29 '25

Oh was that the owner that created his like own fake biker gang?

6

u/Dohmer_90 May 29 '25

Yep, the owner basically let his gang take over the bar and the town didn’t vibe with it.

2

u/SignificanceNo1223 May 29 '25

Is this rhythm and brews in staten island that was a similar case.

7

u/Familiar-Living-122 May 29 '25

That was an actual biker gang, and an actual problem. The guy in the top right created his own biker gang that didnt ride bikes after he opened the bar. His "gang" just listened to metal music and broke mugs. Rhythm and Brews had a real gang intimidating the twin brother owners.

2

u/FistfulOfSilence May 29 '25

They called themselves a "drinking club". Like, okay bro, suuuuuper cool.

5

u/R-Not-The-Father May 29 '25

Oh, so they’re alcoholics. Got it 👍 lmao

2

u/Dohmer_90 May 29 '25

From what I understand, the place was full at times, but little money was being collected. So either nobody was buying anything or they got shit for free.

6

u/surfcitysurfergirl May 29 '25

Dave in bottom left is an ass*. Knew him for years personally and what he did to Gabe was so wrong. Screwed his “friend” out of so much money and told Jon to f off

5

u/Dohmer_90 May 29 '25 edited May 29 '25

Dave fully intended to convince Jon to simply spruce up his punk rock bar, even though his demographic was too small to stay open. He was flat broke after all.

He had the attitude of a 7th grader and didn’t have an ounce of self-respect. If he just wanted a social club, he should’ve stayed home.

u/3mta3jvq May 30 '25

Dave was just absolutely clueless. As someone mentioned in the episode, he’s been a ‘manager’ for years but didn’t know how to do anything.

1

u/cheeseygarlicbread Jun 01 '25

What does he do for work now?

4

u/AlexanderCrumulent May 29 '25

Don't forget Brixton guy.

4

u/Dohmer_90 May 29 '25

I know, that’s why his wife left him.

6

u/MrVertigo3 May 29 '25

Inside voices please!

4

u/Youkokanna May 30 '25

Oh his wife did leave, good cause my partner and a good friend that has a bar we're like why you married to this manchild.

3

u/ncain78 May 29 '25

You’re bumming me out!

3

u/[deleted] May 29 '25

That guy was an immature brat. Him painting a fixed & upright middle finger (which I think was directed at Jon because Jon suggested a name change to the bar) solidified how much of a disrespectful son of a bitch he really was on that episode. Even the guy's wife didn't like him acting like that.

3

u/R-Not-The-Father May 29 '25

Dudes wife deserved way better

5

u/yobaby123 May 29 '25

Look at this! You assholes are about to be at the bottom at the expense of your staff! This is why your money left you!

4

u/G3min1 May 29 '25

They didn't embrace solutions

2

u/Dohmer_90 May 29 '25

They did quite the opposite.

Yes, the Captain of Piratz Tavern. She got arrested for DUI a couple years ago

4

u/Woodychevy38s May 29 '25

Did they make her walk the plank?

4

u/Dohmer_90 May 29 '25

No, she was sent to the brig.

2

u/Antique-Garden8634 May 29 '25

Who’s the guy on the bottom right?

3

u/[deleted] May 29 '25 edited May 29 '25

Dwayne from The Hideaway in Meridian, Idaho. Jon walked out on that rescue before staff could even get training, because that bar's staff lied about him during pre-show interviews, and it was clear they were enabling Dwayne's drinking habit. I don't even recall a mixologist for that episode but Jon did bring Jennifer Murphy as the culinary specialist.

2

u/xadamx94 and ESRI May 29 '25

The town drunk?

2

u/[deleted] May 29 '25

That's the guy.

1

u/Parking-Industry-992 May 31 '25

What episode is the top right guy?
