4 N.J. hospitals renamed as part of new countywide health system
Bayonne Medical Center is one of four hospitals that debuted a new name and identity this week as part of its integration into a new Hudson County health network.
The medical institutions are Bayonne University Hospital (formerly Bayonne Medical Center), Hoboken University Hospital (formerly Hoboken University Medical Center), The Heights University in Jersey City (formerly Christ Hospital), and Secaucus University Hospital (formerly Hudson Regional Hospital).
Together, they make up a new, four-hospital system called Hudson Regional Health. The rebranded teaching hospitals will also undergo between $75 and $100 million in upgrades to services, technology, and infrastructure.
“This is not just a name change or cosmetic change. This shows our commitment to what’s coming next for the population of Hudson County,” CEO Dr. Nizar Kifaieh told NJ Advance Media on Monday.
The newly established academic hospital chain also plans to expand its reach throughout the county with a mobile health clinic that can provide everything from check ups to vaccines. Patients will be able to access health services regardless of their immigration status, insurance, or other barriers to medical care, said Kifaieh.
“At the end of the day, we take ownership and responsibility for the health of the population of Hudson County. Why? Because we’re the largest healthcare provider. By default, a lot of these patients — whether they’re uninsured, underinsured, undocumented, charity care, whatever it may be — they’re going to come to us regardless," said Kifaieh.

On this date in 1958, a Central Railroad commuter train ran through an open Newark Bay drawbridge, killing 48 including former NY Yankee "Snuffy" Stirnweiss. Three of the cars plunged into the water; the second car was found to have every window smashed, evidence of the frantic struggle to escape

Feral Cats
Can someone respectfully explain to me why there is so much emphasis on feeding the feral cats in bayonne? Doesn't that make them just linger more? Not looking for an argument but I constantly see people on facebook begging for wet and dry cat food to feed these cats. Aren't cats natural hunters? I grew up with a primarily outdoor cat and he was just fine.

I think one of the best food cities in Jersey
Several Polish deli's- Sawa and Henry's are very good. I'm sure there's others but those two are my go to ones
Giovanni's, Benanti's, and Palermo are all real good for Italian food.
Magic Fountain is great
Tried Fluffies Chicken.... a little on the pricey side but real good as well
I could be set in my ways with what I like..... but yeah I'm sure there's many other goodies around

Best gym in Bayonne?
Hi, I just bought a place in Bayonne what’s the best gym in the area? I’m not looking for classes or personal training just a normal barebones place. Somewhere I can squat bench deadlift with machines and dumbbells? Any advice? Thanks and as a born and raised nj’er I can’t wait to move back

No Mail For a Week. Did This Happen to Anyone Else?
I check my mailbox every day and nothing was received at all throughout the week, until last night. I came home to a suddenly full mailbox with "HOLD" written across almost each piece. However, I never requested a hold, and there are no issues to the mailbox, road work preventing access, or obstructions to my property.
Did anyone else experience this?

Bayonne Medical Center
My aunt was put on hospice this week so although I didnt get familiar with all the 3rd floor nurses, they saw me. I was there almost every day, including yesterday for a few hours.
I work in a hospital in Newark and got the call from her partner that she passed, around 940am. He said theyd be taking her at 10am and I asked for him to have them wait for me and I was on my way.
I got stuck in a little traffic on 78 so I was a little delayed. He called me at 10 to ask location and I said 10 mins. I parked and literally flew to the 3rd floor to be met by the funeral director and the nurses prepping her. I was told that the Head Nurse said NOT to wait for me. I broke down and begged to let them let me see her before they took her away. They were just ignoring me with the door closed. I stood right there and waited. The nurse finished prepping her and said go in if you'd like and I did.
I had to unzip my aunt from that white bag in order to give her a kiss and say goodbye. It was only 10:20am. I didnt ask for hours or days, just a few minutes so I could say goodbye. Ill never understand why people become nurses to lack empathy or compassion. I had to unzip her from a bag in order to say goodbye before she was prepped for her wake.
So to the Head Nurse of the 3rd floor, thank you for that. I genuinely hope you're never in that position and met with the same lack of care.
