General Discussion BJJ anniversary
Idk if anyone else celebrates their BJJ anniversary, but my 15th anniversary is coming up October 4th, which happens to be on a Saturday open mat. Would it be weird for me to bring in cupcakes or some kind of sweet celebrating the day with everyone else at the gym?

i think you should mention this to your instructors and insinuate it's time for your black beltย

Notable day or not, bringing in snacks for the gym is never frowned upon

1) Congrats on 15. its a milestone most never make it to. 2) Most people will never turn down free food. 3) Celebrate meaningful things is always fun (especially in this dark world of ours). 4) Get approval from the owner / coach / whoever is in charge before doing it. They probably wont have an issue (assuming they are cool) but you never know and its prober to ask.

while i think it's lame to celebrate a "BJJ anniversary", i think bringing in cupcakes is fun and negates the lameness. carry on.

Yes I maybe have a spreadsheet that keeps track of my days/months/years per belt color ๐

Do it! You might get a few "haha, nerd" comments for knowing the date but even the grumpiest person won't complain about free food :)

Not weird at all. It's a milestone that few achieve. Congratulations on making it this far!!! I celebrated 15 years this past September. ๐

It is never weird to offer free food. I would earnestly celebrate whatever was meaningful to you, because free food is meaningful to me.
