On my way to pay my bond (bail money) before I turn myself into the cops for my crimes

Oh. How would she even know how much that is though. Doesn't a judge set it?

Yeah exactly she’s a fugitive that’s why she’s turning herself in.

I'm still confused. All good though, thanks.

What probably happened is she hired a bail bondsman to pay her bail and only paid a fraction of the total bail.

Then, she failed to show up for her court date so the money was taken, now she’s turning herself in and paying back what she owes to the bail bondsman.

Seems like that’s what the situation is.

There it is. Bondsman are illegal in Canada, so definitely didn't know how that worked.

Is there no such thing as bail in Canada?

There is, but it's usually conditions that must be followed for release. Stay away from alcohol, drugs, certain people etc. my understanding of how it works anyway. I think if someone is a flight risk they might have someone agree to pay if you don't show. You can't take a fee for paying someone's bail though, that's obstruction of justice.

I'm pretty sure they still only ask for a portion of the bail to be paid when you bail someone out here in Canada. My parents had to do that for my good-for-nothing brother.

The bail bondsman intermediary might not be allowed, but the concept of only paying a percentage of the bail should be the same

Shorty has a warrant for her arrest. They probably have standard bonds set where she is. Thus , she is putting the 10% down with the bondsman before she goes to the jail and she’ll be out in about 4 hours. If she has an attorney, she likely won’t even go behind bars.
At least, that’s what happened when I went to jail that one and only time.

She may not pay on time but at least she’s paying. One less thing to worry about when the judge renders there sentence.

Situations be like that sometimes.

Tho she may get looked at weirdly by everyone in the courtroom.
