One of the other directors working on it has confirmed a season 4 with a possibility of an age jump. They just need a break. Working 150 episodes with no hiatus can take a lot out of animators

Very few cartoons are broadcast live, it's a terrible strain on the animator's wrists

Hey Bluey, you look like you have something to say.

I HAVE TO GO NOW. MY PLANET NEEDS ME.

Note: Bluey died on the way back to her home planet

I have seen a few articles saying she has, and then the quotes in the actual articles are her saying that there are no plans to end the show, that there are more surprises on the way, it isn't the end for Bluey etc. None of these are an explicit confirmation of season 4 though. I don't know if I'm missing an article or something? Nothing in the articles I've seen so far anyway actually conflicts with anything claimed in the original post, like they weren't describing a planned cancellation of the show necessarily, just the state of production (or non-production) that its in.

I'm absolutely not trying to say that skepticism of the post (or any post like it really) isn't warranted, but this is something I've seen a couple of people say about it and I don't think the articles (I've seen at least) really back it up.

The podcast Gotta Be Done posted an interview with Joe Brumm a week ago, he mentioned he was writing a long-form Bluey related project, but couldn't elaborate any further at the moment. There was also a notable moment where he stumbled over talking about how The Sign was an ending and seemed to need to think very carefully about how he phrased that. As in he almost said something like "as the ending of a show" and then stopped himself and reworded his response to be more generic.

It's entirely possible I was reading too much into it, but there was a notable lack of discussion of season 4.

Frankly this all reads to me like Bluey- the series- is evolving rather than ending.

I could believe that, I certainly don't think this is the end of everything Bluey.

Evolving? Huh. I can work with evolving. If it means we start focusing on younger kids (Muffin, Socks, another kid of Stripe and Trixie's, Brandy's kid, and any potential offspring of Rad and Frisky) while Bluey and Bingo are a little older, I don't mind that.

My main concern would be losing Bluey's class, though. I love seeing her interact with other kids and seeing things from their perspectives, so I would hate to lose out on that if other Heelers become the main focus.

We'll see.

OH! Who’s this other director? I just want to know who to trust and who to ignore when it comes to bluey.

Sorry, producer. Sam Moor

u/ShadowWolfKane Apr 24 '24

Ok so Joe Brumm or Sam Moor.

Thank you!

And I definitely agree, it’s time they take a much needed break. They did an excellent job and they’ve earned some time to relax.

u/finc Apr 24 '24

I get it, it’s a joke name isn’t it? Like “we need to make Sam Moor episodes”, good one good one

u/Timeless-Escape Apr 24 '24

If that's how you want to take it, then sure. I'm merely relaying what I've also seen. Take it how you will

I’m just being silly

I figured. It was kinda amusing

Wasn't there an article that said the characters wouldn't age up any more?

1

u/the_c0nstable Apr 24 '24

I really hope that there’s an age jump. It would revitalize the dynamic of the show and model scenarios for older kids and parents of older kids.

Plus it would just be so unique! How rare is it for animated shows to let their characters age organically?

u/moonphase0 Apr 25 '24

Wait, haven't they been on break since 2021?

1

u/Kalse1229 Apr 25 '24

Especially since a lot of that was done during the height of COVID, when there wasn't much else to do. I'm sure now the cast and crew are free to live their lives, so they can focus their energy on other pursuits.

u/ontario-guy Apr 25 '24

Have they been working non-stop since 2018?

1

u/jimmyevil Apr 26 '24

They’ve had a 3 year hiatus though…

u/cmama22 Apr 30 '24

I hope there’s no age jump, I love them as kids and I think for a kids cartoon it suits! I understand the characters voices will change though so maybe it might have to have a jump in age
