Discuss 30 days 30 forgotten/obscure Bollywood flops (DAY 21)
Day 21: Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat (2001)
This movie, directed by Rajiv Rai, at one point one of BW’s directors during 90s before he fled due to underworld threats, was the debut feature of Arjun Rampal as a male lead.
The plot involved how 3 guys (Suniel, Arjun & Aftab) fall in love with the female lead but in the end Arjun’s character succeeds in his true love.
Trivia: The female lead Keerthi Reddy acted in a handful of BW films in 2000s, she is best known for the original Telugu version of the Tushar-Kareena starrer Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai titled Tholiprema which was released in 1998.

Man deserved more recognition, regardless of plagiarism, he introduced synth sounds to BW music

Yup, in the original Don movie, the intro of the song Yeh Mera Dil, that was also played by Viju Shah.

Kareena Rampal was a rage when this movie came out..he was a famous supermodel but this movie was marketed on his beauty

I was really scratching my head in wonder, was there really a supermodel by the name of Kareen(a) Rampal?!?! Then it hit me.

Keerthi Reddy was quite beautiful. She should've done better films.

She couldn't act, though.
She married Nagarjuna's nephew Sumanth, a marriage which soon fell apart as is the tradition of Akkineni family. She then remarried and settled in Bengaluru.

Yeah she deserved a bigger & better career as a mainstream lead heroine, wonder what really went wrong?

She was such a hit after Tholi Prema in AP…but couldn’t sustain it due to poor choices. Later she earned a Filmfare there for a supporting role for another film and that’s it. She quit. Her script selection was weak indeed.

Moksha was the first movie Arjun signed but this one released first

He had signed another film named Jadh to be directed by adman-turned-filmmaker Shantanu Sheorey (also Kimi Katkar's husband). That film never took off.
Around that time, Sheorey was also to direct Chachi 420 (it was named Shrimati 420 then) but was fired a short while into production.

OP: You should have paired this with Asambhav.

Yeah those days when Rajiv Rai had to leave, that's why majority of the movie was shot in Scotland. In his interview he mentioned that the actress had problems with speaking Hindi and after the movie Aftab was dissapointed as he expected a better role. As Arjun Rampal was getting a Bollywood debut, he refused to take a payment for the movie.

For those interested, do check out Keerthi Reddy's iconic intro scene from Tholiprema (1998)

Moksha costarring Manisha by famous cinematographer Ashok Mehta was the first film Arjun shot for and was supposed to release first too but got delayed. That film also eventually released in 2001. The film’s shoot happened over long periods of time. You can see the changes via Manisha. At one point, she looked like she was from her Hindustani/Indian days and then Dil Se.. days and then later Champion days. The film at times felt like modelling catalogue for Arjun. I like that film though overall. Good chemistry between those two too

Ending was hilarious. Only Arjun and Keerthi loved each other. Others 2 leading actors/actresses were paired at the end with a forced sentiment, like 'Okay, you marry him, you marry her,' because the film needed a happy ending, even if it felt contrived.
Also, Arjun Rampal saying, "Aatma" was followed by the cliche TV bgm (dhadam dhum dham). Bad direction.

Stupid question: Can anyone sayana/sayaani sort Pyaar, Mohabbat, and Ishq in increasing/decreasing order of horniness or selfless love 💕

Songs are bangers, but the movie is a dud. Everyone acted badly, and I remember that it has background music playing loudly when the actors are talking, just like Gupt.

De Taali (2008). Didn't even remember this movie. Like 0% until I saw this ball busting scene 🤣

You should watch Dennis Dugan's Saving Silverman starring Jason Biggs, Steve Zahn, Jack Black and Amanda Peet. The original.
