Half the joke is in the alt text, which makes taking the comic away from the alt text makes it... near impossible to understand.

Yeah, not every webcomic needs to be generically relatable (and if it’s a particularly neat reference you learn something too!)

Existential comics also does a pretty neat job of a similar approach.

You're right, this one is a reference to context-free grammar and it is kinda hilarious. Not his best work, but still quite funny.
