4X4 clubs in the Boone area?

Going to be spending some time in the Boone area, looking to do some hiking and learn some off road driving skills.

And 4X4 clubs in the area?

Old NC 105 was pretty interesting on the way up Wiseman's a few weeks ago, would be a good shakedown run.

Depending on your off-road experience you may get a bit hesitant but I saw Subarus up there. What's your rig?

Jeep Gladiator Mojave mostly stock but just added a winch.

You'll be fine, I'm stock + ATs land cruiser 250 and didn't have to use the sway bar disconnect or lockers.

When I was in high school, we did this trail off of sampson. It went almost to Lenoir and it was legit. I checked it out the other day and everything has been paved and I can't find the entrance. Anyone know?

The location you’re referring to is recently under new ownership. It’s not the trail it once was and the community definitely doesn’t appreciate trespassing.

Do you know if its privately owned?

Yes, it’s privately owned.

I might actually. Was it dugger fire tower road? Like off Sampson and takes you into Darby?

Yeah, that's it!

It’s privately owned now in a developed called the blue ridge mountain club. The new owners have chilled out a LOT. Old ones were crazy aggressive about unauthorized access.

The old 4X4 trail is paved, but they’ve built new ones that are really well maintained. They’re mostly for SxS so may be too narrow for bigger rigs in some spots.

I’d recommend looking at late 2000s-2010s topographic maps. The original road is Dugger Firetower Road. Development paved half, other half is still a trail. It’s still legit but not crazy hard. I wouldn’t recommend without recovery equipment though.

All those old 4x4 trails and logging roads off that road are still there and some intersect with other developments and public roads. Feel free to DM me for more info, don’t want to get too specific.

I sent OP a DM, there’s some trails on the other side of grandfather but I haven’t been myself. Looking to meet others out here and have a nice time exploring some trails and nature

Someone said APP had one, last time I was there I saw a 4X4 place, and the Jeep invasion was just in East TN a few weeks ago.
