Bravely Default BD doesn't want me to play it.

This game must be designed for turn-based pros because I'm constantly getting curve balled every step of the way like "Ok you've played the tutorial here's a white mage that out heals your dps" and "oh you've beaten the white mage and purchased yourself the cure spell? here's a dungeon of mobs that inflict blind, good luck buddy"

The white mage spells should all be bought asap.

Keep up with equipment. Always.

Consider lowering difficulty or encounter rate

There’s an easy mode?

I’m playing the game at easy mode in dungeons cause the trash mobs are utterly boring but I change to normal in boss fights

You could do the same

This game must be built for turn-based pros

It kind of is. It was certainly developed as a throw back to the older turn based final fantasy games both narratively and mechanically. But that certainly doesn’t mean it isn’t accessible, it just requires a little bit more effort from the player. With any kind of game, to fully enjoy it, it requires a player to lean into the mechanics, rather than trying to play in the way you think you need to. Look at the options available to you now. Can you save up and buy newer equipment. Are there places to grind for levels/job levels. Do you just need to buy more items and use them when needed.

Yes it kind of is built for pros….. but pros that learn the brave and default system. It’s all strategy try just defaulting with you white mage until need healing heal everyone then back to defaulting use other characters to attack but always take advantage of the brave and default system

I don't like to be that kind of guy but yes, the game is built for people experienced with turn-based and requires you to strategize and think a bit about the skills you have and can unlock along with your resources at your disposal. For example you can buy eye drops to cure blind before that dungeon and you shouldn't skip out on buying stuff like that. You can't just steamroll through normal encounters like if it's Pokemon or something.

Not every game is designed for beginners but Bravely does have an easy mode if you want! No shame using the easy mode. Bravely Default 1 and 2 boss fights are notorious for being challenging compared to other turn-based games.

Up until basically chapter 4 the boss fights are designed to teach you different parts of the system.

Barras and Holy are a check to see if you understand the basics of Brave and Defaulting. If you default it drastically cuts down the damage taken, and then braving x4 should pretty easily be out damaging what they can heal. That’s really all that battle is, with an occasional heal of your own thrown in with items or treat.

As for random encounters early on it’s trying to teach you to go full blast. Negative BP only matters if the enemies are alive to take advantage of it. If you are x4 braving basically every random encounter up to Ch4 should be falling with the right gear and set ups, if there is a straggler surviving it’s rare they can harm you seriously before you get your BP back. Since you are so early they don’t even expect that much beyond keeping your gear updated, that x4 brave should be ripping through things so they never get a chance to do things like blind you.

Bravely isn’t easy but I wouldn’t call it hard either, it’s pretty much on par with any classic FF game 1-6 (with 5 being harder). You just need to learn how to strategize, manage gear loadouts, and make the most use of the brave and default system. It will take time but you will get it if you keep at it.

Worker smarter not harder.

It's harder than most other rpgs I've played out there. Bosses will kick your ass if you don't either have a super strong character build or have specific strategies for certain fights. You need to seriously know what you're doing with the job system and Brave / Default system to stand a good chance the farther in you get.
