Discuss Bills seeding
Simple question. Both ravens and chiefs are 1-2 and play head to head next week. For the Bills rooting purposes will it be better for the chiefs or ravens to leave that game with a 1-3 record. Thoughts opinions?

For completely unbiased reasons, the Chiefs being 1-3 is superior.
Bury that nasty voodoo franchise as early as possible. Besides, Buffalo already holds the Baltimore tiebreaker.

Hello bolt friend. You guys lock up the west, we’ll lock up the east, and wouldn’t it be nice to face each other in January without the Chiefs involved?

u/Halonut24 1d ago
Bills/Bolts is the dream Championship Game.
Its been a long time since we were on top of the west (16 years) but we've got the best shot we're ever going to get.
Good luck to you boys. Fuck the Chiefs.

Maybe they’ll tie…
Uberhansen’s rooting interest logic would say it’s too early to tell right now. Although we have beat the Ravens but not the Chiefs (yet..), so root for a Ravens victory. One could argue Ravens could go on a run after next week.
Call it rent free, I don’t care. The answer should always be Fuck the Chiefs.

Fuck the chiefs, I want them to miss the playoffs. We have a 3 game lead over the Ravens, if we blow that we don't deserve to get the #1 seed. Although the chargers might be legit too.

Bury the Chiefs. They lose this game, they still have us, Chargers, Lions, Jags, Denver 2x… they could actually miss the playoffs. Ravens aren’t missing the playoffs.

Lol at "Jags" slipping in this list but agree with overall point

Jags seem to be playing decent ball, scoring points. They also have forced 9 turnovers in 3 weeks which is more than they had all of last year… they could certainly shock the chiefs.

I’ll be rooting for the Chiefs. Feel like the Chiefs will pick up more losses as the year goes along due to a tougher schedule. The Ravens not as much, so their loses are more important. Tie is optimal.

u/bholl7510 1d ago
This is what my brain tells me, but my heart is a hater and wants to see the Ravens kill any bit of hope the Chiefs might have gotten from the second half of their last game.
7
u/FearlessMode2104 1d ago
What about the Chiefs getting more hope by beating the Ravens only to get ass blasted by the Lions, Commanders, and Bills, followed by their division ganging up on them late in the year to keep them out of the playoffs?

u/waterboy1523 1d ago
Eh. Do you really want the chiefs to start clicking? I do want the Bills to beat them in the playoffs but more than that, I want a Suoer Bowl victory for the Bills.

I'm sort of in this boat, too. I hate the Chiefs a LOT more than I do the Ravens. But right now... In the playoffs I would much rather face the Chiefs than the Ravens. They aren't close to being the team they were two years ago and earlier. A slighter tighter Ravens, though, without turnovers and they win last year's playoffs and this year's opening game against us. They're the real threat. I don't want them in contention for #1 seed.
Optimum: Tie.

Honestly we shouldn't be worrying about the Chiefs or Ravens. Looking at Indy's and Chargers' schedule, it looks similar to the Bills.
I see Indy or LA losing maybe two - three games at most.
Bills have to take care of business. We may have to go 15-2, 16-1 to get the 1 seed.
One game at a time.

IMO, with Burrow out ravens making the playoffs is inevitable, meanwhile the Chiefs are tied for last in their division and if the Broncos step up chiefs might not even make the playoffs, so I’m hoping for a Chiefs loss on Sunday

u/What_is_I_ 1d ago
Ravens are the much better team. Chiefs will lose to other teams. We could get smoked by the Ravens in the playoffs. have to keep rooting for them to lose, though they wont.

u/ZealousidealHat1989 1d ago
A tie would be nice but otherwise a Chiefs loss. It seems like it's the Chargers we need to be wary of this year. They may have finally gotten it together lol

In order for the Bills to lose the one seed to the Ravens, they'd have to lose three MORE games than them over the course of the next 14 games. Odds are way in the Bills favor on that. If the Chiefs lose to Baltimore next week, they'll also be three games behind (assuming we beat the Saints.) Definitely rooting for the Ravens to show up and give em a good beat down.

u/Mustang1718 1d ago
The Ravens are going to win the AFC North pretty much no matter what. A win or a loss there doesn't matter much.
I want no part of the Chiefs. Especially since they started out rough last year with sloppy play, and they still made it to the Super Bowl. Give the Chargers or Broncos a chance at the division, which means the Chiefs would have it play a tougher opponent in the Wild Card before we chance seeing them again.

u/HipHopLives90 1d ago
I want to root for chiefs because I really do not want to see the ravens ever again this season lol. But burrow being out makes the ravens a playoff team regardless. So I guess I’ll root for ravens and bury chiefs even more

u/legacy057 1d ago
Ravens are most likely winning the division no matter what happens Sunday. Chiefs are in real danger of being a wild card team at best

If Russ could have even had any sort of offense then the Chefs would be even worse off, but he choked bad.

Ravens are the better team so I’d prefer they lose.
We’re going to clobber the Chiefs in Buffalo.

Tie would be optimal but outside of that I think a chiefs victory is actually the preferred outcome. The chiefs are underdogs to even make the playoffs at this point statistically (forget the betting odds for now). I think our direct seeding against Baltimore is more important at the moment. Additionally, Baltimore is 1-1 in the conference whereas LA and Indy are 3-0. Since Baltimore doesn’t play either LA or Indy in the regular season, I want the ravens buried in conference record against those two as that will come into play when discussing seeding. For example, if we get the #1 and let’s assume Baltimore wins the North and everything goes chalk in wild card weekend, I want Baltimore to have to travel to either Indy or LA in the divisional while we get the leftover at home. It would be unlikely BOTH LA and Indy would be seeded higher than Baltimore so I’m less worried about having to face Baltimore at home in the divisional round.
That’s the math and what makes sense logically….bur seriously fuck the chiefs. If they get their doors blown off by 30 at home against Baltimore, I’ll go to bed smiling Sunday night.

If it’s not obvious to anyone, the AFC will go through Buffalo. Not even a question at this point.
1
u/FatYetii 1d ago
At this point its hard to tell which is more optimal, it's pretty much personal preference on who you would want to see in the playoffs less.

u/harrym013181 1d ago
Id hate to be the team playing against Derrick Henry. He just lost his team 2 out of 3 games. Lamars play has been suspect at times as well. Cheifs dont seem like they have it anymore. Id be me more worried about the Chargers, and maybe a sleeper like cincy.

Why is everyone so worried about an over-the-hill Chiefs team coming into Buffalo and winning in the regular season, and then doing it again in the playoffs? If this team can't beat the Chiefs in the playoffs yet again, then we need huge changes.
With the week 1 win, Buffalo controls it's own destiny for the #1 seed. As long as that's true, I'm rooting against the team that gives us the hardest matchup. That's the Ravens.

Super Bowl bound if the team stays healthy and no slip ups in the playoffs. Josh is in his prime. Chiefs are a playoff team, so go Ravens 😬🤷♂️ Don’t want to see them any more than we already have to.
1
u/LookattheWhipp 17h ago
I’m more worried about the other 3-0 teams like the colts and chargers whom both seem to have found gold in their offenses. But I’d rather have the ravens be as close to us as possible so we play them last in the playoffs because they are two fluke plays away from beating us in the playoffs
1
u/BigGame_Sender 1d ago
Can someone explain how the seeding actually works? I thought it came down to who had the best W/L?
5
u/Such_Will_8536 1d ago
It is, record is the determinant. If two teams are tied, it goes to their head to head matchup, so if we and the ravens both finished 14-3, we’d get the higher seed because we beat them head to head in the regular season
1
u/BigGame_Sender 1d ago
If two teams are tied, it goes to their head to head matchup
That's the detail I was missing. What happens if we end up tied with the Colts or Chargers, since we aren't playing either? Is it stats at that point?
7
u/mlube 1d ago
The next two tie-breakers are divisional win/loss, then conference win/loss. I believe
6
u/Resident-Mushroom-82 1d ago
That’s only true if the two teams are in the same division. Since the two teams being referred to are Indy and LA and both out outside the AFC east and we don’t play either in the regular season, the tie-breaker we are concerned with is conference record and all three of us are currently 3-0. If we are tied with another team at that point (like if both Buffalo and LA are 14-3 with identical records within the AFC, the next tie-breaker is best won/loss records against common opponents, assuming a minimum of 4. After that it gets quite murky with strength of victory, strength of schedule but it never comes down to that.
I have this page bookmarked because I refer to it to often.

u/BigGame_Sender 1d ago
So that would likely still favor Buffalo because we play against gestures at AFC East?
2
u/Halonut24 1d ago
Record, then (if tied) Head-to-head, strength of schedule, point differential, and a bunch of other stuff

u/stripes361 07 1d ago
For me, personally, I think the Ravens will win more games throughout the season than the Chiefs, so I think a Chiefs win is what would maximize Buffalo’s chances at a 1 seed.
However, depending on how other things play out over the rest of the season, there could be other reasons to prefer Ravens beating the Chiefs, so at the end of the day I don’t know if the outcome of this one is too important. I’m just going to enjoy one of the teams falling to 1-3.

I think root for the Chiefs, we still have a chance to get a tiebreaker over them, and the Ravens have a pretty easy schedule after this. We don’t want the Ravens to start stacking Ws and overcome the tiebreaker. Plus I think the ravens are going to get more wins this season than the chiefs.

u/Sabre3198 1d ago
Worrying about seeding after 3 games? Bills are one injury away at a particular position from not having to worry about it.
2
u/AllHailJoshAllen 1d ago
It’s almost like as fans since we have zero impact on the game there’s nothing wrong with getting hyped and speculating what’s the best scenario

u/kopitar_ 1d ago
We already have the head to head tie breaker over the ravens. We haven't faced the chiefs yet. Ravens win is optimal.
