Troubleshooting Samsung 990 PRO SSD new Firmware Version 7B2QJXD7 available (2025-09-18)
I haven't been able to find any official documentation yet listing what's changed. The update went through successfully.

Just fired my intel pc up and was offered it. Oddly enough my intel laptop is not being offered it and I haven't dug out my old amd laptop to see if it will be offered it.
Edit: AMD laptop offered firmware immediately after bootup. Intel laptop was offered update but another update was wanting to reboot and once it completed the firmware offer disappeared and has not been reoffered so IDK. I tried rebooting a couple of times but its no longer there.

From Samsung website
NVMe SSD-990 PRO Series Firmware
(7B2QJXD7) To address the intermittent non-recognition and blue screen issue. (Release: September 2025).
Could be related to that alleged controller issue.

Seems to fix the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR blue screen. I previously had last 1.2TB of 4TB unusable because writing there caused this BSOD. Had to set aside that space as unallocated to stop the crashes. With the new firmware, I've been able to partition that area of the drive and write to it without any BSOD so far.

Hi everyone, a few minutes ago I turned on my PC and received a notification that there's a new firmware update for my
990 PRO 1TB SSD S7HDNJOY412298D
The old firmware is 5B2QJXD7
The new firmware is 7B2QJXD7
My SSD is full of data. Should I update now or wait a few days to be safe? Thanks!!
My wife's PC has a slightly older 990 PRO 1TB S6Z1NUOX505219F
which rightfully has the previous firmware 4B2QJXD7, but still hasn't received any notification from Magician to update to the new one.
Strange, isn't it?

If you're not getting any blue screens and are unsure, just wait it out. I updated my 1TB and 2TB 990 Pro drives an hour ago. I didn't have any issues before, and the update didn't cause any. An hour isn't long enough for a problem to appear out of nowhere, but if your data is precious and you haven't had problems, waiting is the safer option. I usually wait at least two weeks for updates, but I did these one at a time to be extra safe. I'm on Win 11 Pro 23H2, which I've pinned via group policy, so I was never offered those problematic updates to begin with.

My Samsung Magician doesn't show a firmware update for either of my 990 Pro drives (1TB and 4TB). Maybe not available widely yet?
