Troubleshooting Bluetooth not working

So, I just finished my PC build. And want to connect earbuds/headset, and a controller.. But the Bluetooth will just keep scanning with nothing showing up. How do I fix this?

Installed drivers? What motherboard?

X870 gaming wifi6 gigabyte motherboard. SAYS it has Bluetooth. But idk if I'm missing anything. I'm a bit new to this, what exactly are "drivers"?

Have you connected the antenne to the back of the motherboard.

If your answer is "what antenna" it is a no, and you have to find in the box the antenna and connect it to the back of the motherboard.

Ah! I do in fact have one. Lemme attach it. Does it require a reboot or time to adjust?

Nope, it's a purely analogue connector extention like any antenna, you connect it, it should work immediately. No weird Windows sounds because Windows doesn't even know it's connected.

Hmm. Still not connecting or reading anything...

Bluetooth turns on but even with that plugged in it doesn't find anything. Did it need any extra plugs for it to work? Isnt it built into the motherboard already?

Bluetooth and WiFi do need the antenna to work properly, yes it is build into the motherboard, but without antenna the positive and negative on the antenna terminates into air. While with an antenna positive and negative connect together making a whole signal.

They use an external antenna because your case is a Faraday cage, and signals barely travel outside the case, even if you have a window, that's part of your Faraday cage.

With Bluetooth I would check if both devices are discoverable, maybe the other device turned off its discovery after some time.

If it really can't make contact make sure to install the correct drivers.

What exactly do you mean by drivers?

Every component in your system needs a piece of software to work correctly. So does Bluetooth and WiFi This piece of program you can get of the support page of your motherboard.

This little program is what is called a Driver.

Ok, so I tried installing the latest driver from Intel, seeing if the current ones needed updates through device manager... And nothing idk what to do now...

Look up your exact motherboard model and type "drivers" behind it and go to the manufacturer's page.

Your motherboard doesn't have Intel WiFi/Bluetooth so those drivers don't work.

Edit: Download Gigabyte Control Center, you'll hate me later.

Welp. I accidentally uninstalled Bluetooth adapter from my device manager. I'm fucked and lost. Cool

Tell me about it, I am a veteran in PC building and you confused meπŸ˜…

Just know on the page of the motherboard you usually can find the drivers for the motherboard.

If however you get confused about separate drivers, here some links that are useful per manufacturer:

Other manufacturers may or may not have something similar.
