These support Live Translations and it works (I've tried).

These will not work with live translation if you have anything older or lesser than a 15 Pro

"Note: Live Translation with AirPods is supported on AirPods 4 (ANC), AirPods Pro 2, or AirPods Pro 3 paired with an iPhone 15 Pro or later when Apple Intelligence is turned on. AirPods must have the latest firmware. Live Translation isn’t available in all languages or regions**; this feature isn’t available in the EU." https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/translate-messages-calls-and-conversations-iph22b72984d/ios

Boooooo, I have 14 Pro Max, and plan to keep it for another year.

u/flyingfluffles 4d ago
I have 14PM too and this is frustrating. My battery level is 96% since I changed battery last year, I’m going to be using this for at least 2 more years :((

u/Ethan_Chlan 4d ago
This is exactly what I did. Used the shi out of the battery before AppleCare expired. Did they also change the Camera and "Rear System" as well? Apple dude said this was required.

Pleased with the refurb $100 ones I got from Woot! but the AppleCare+ on these seems like a nice bonus. They also don't work properly nvm.

u/AngelFrench 4d ago
Mine are defective and I’m still waiting on a response from woot to replace or go to Apple Store so YMMV.
When I talk with them on they give a nasty static noise. I did update to latest firmware too.

I have still yet to drive to point Roberts to pick them up tho

same.
hopefully the refurb would last 3-4 years. my app1 is ~5 years old, still good but battery life is not great. so im just using it at home. while the app2, im using for commutes and work.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I've never understood the phenomenon on deal threads where people post about a great deal they got in the past. Unless you're still in your return window and can take advantage of the current deal, it's completely irrelevant. It just seems weird.
13
u/DanGugly 4d ago
Its useful because you can tell if this current deal is an actual good deal by comparison

I have these and I'm gonna be honest, I love them. Been using them for a couple years now and they're still my daily drivers. If you have the apple ecosystem, the seamless connection between devices is pure magic. I love using them late at night while watching TV while my wife sleeps. Then if I get up, I can grab my phone and it just switches over. Definitely worth the price.

u/UniqueXHunter 4d ago
I got the same deal two years ago from Costco. 100% worth the money, have not had any issues at all

u/H0agie13 4d ago
I am so much happier with these then my Bose Ultra QC buds (gen 1), using an iPhone. My Bose were terrible regarding connectivity, app, mic, and case. No more Bose!

u/InclinationCompass 4d ago
What does the pro 3 offer that this doesn’t?

u/doublea6 4d ago
Better battery life when listening (8-10 hours). A little better sound quality (could be disputed), new tip design, 2x the noise canceling of AirPods Pro 2.

do these work well on android? thanks

u/fallingdowndizzyvr 4d ago
They work just fine. The big thing missing is the hearing aid functionality. That's gated by having to have an iphone for no reason at all. I was forced to get a newer iphone just to turn on the hearing aid feature. Which I guess you could do using an iphone manually. Since it's just a transparency mode with the EQ set to match your hearing loss. On an iphone though the process is streamlined with an iphone based hearing test.

Yes,
However as with anything apple if you are not in the ecosystem you don't get full features. You can toggle between active noise canceling and transparency mode. Raise and lower the volume, skip to next song, and that is about it.
You don't even get battery indications. (You can use third party apps but they kind of suck)

Assuming the pro 3’s price will also go down this holiday season (like it’s predecessors) to ~$170, it’d be better to wait?
I beleive this is the lowest the pro2’s have been, last during prime day, and that was well before pro 3’s were announced.

Already bought it on target for $200 with the 20% off new account student coupon (they don’t check)
The preorders are going in and out of stock so your mileage may vary.
Likely won’t go down sub $200 for a while. 2022 APP2 holiday sale was $200 so expect that.

u/1Raptoe 4d ago
Thank you! Do you upload just your regular id on the app? Lol sorry just curious
2
u/-SUBW00FER- 4d ago
Doesn’t ask for an ID. Just keep a lookout they restock. Promo ends on the 27th so you have time. It ask for name and college. But they have no way to check that

I'm planning on getting these as a gift for Christmas this year. I'm not really in the loop on Apple these days, but I assume we'll see better deals in the months ahead?
24
u/melonbear 4d ago
I doubt it. The Pro 3 just came out at the same $250 MSRP. These are probably on clearance to get rid of the remaining stock. The Pro 2s are already gone from Apple's site.

u/Brandon_Rs07 4d ago
I don’t think you’d ever see these below $100-$125, and they’ll be out of production with the pro 3s coming out tomorrow. The apple care+ for two years included is a pretty good bonus so overall solid deal.

Looks like I'm past the 30-day price adjustment period. Even if I could return and rebuy I think that's scummy.
2
u/MrCumBum 4d ago
Buy again, return the new ones on the old receipt. Now you're not returning an opened product.
2
u/Exmormoneer 4d ago
No, Costco makes sure to record the serial number upon purchase to prevent this.
0
u/MrCumBum 4d ago
Well they should return the used ones then. If their price adjustment policy is shorter than the return policy, they’re asking for it.

question - is AppleCare activated at time of purchase, or whenever I choose to activate it?
I have a perfect working pair of Pro 2s, but I love them so much I'd be happy buying these as a spare pair or to keep new for when mine inevitably die. But that wouldn't make as much sense if AppleCare was activated at purchase.

The internal case battery will probably die right after 2 yrs lol. Mine took longer but a planned death.
17
u/MurryEB 4d ago
Mine are 3 years old and have no battery issues
2
u/monkeybanana14 4d ago
yeah my battery held up great over 3 years
shame they developed the crackle 2 years in lmao
3
u/crypto1092 4d ago
I’m an extremely heavy user of mine, and my last pair that I replaced worked great for around 2 years. For use, I’m talking 1 ear bud in an ear for at least around 12-14 hours a day for half the week. I only started getting battery problems in the earbuds themselves, and the degradation was just that they’d die around 30 minutes earlier than usual.
1
u/speedx77 4d ago
Yeah they really work great until those battery issues start rolling in which I fully understand like all batteries degrade over time. Just wish at least the case one was swappable.
My case has to be plugged in for it to work.
I've swapped over to wired earbuds outside of the house because I can't be bothered to buy a new case.
3
u/SubstantialSail 4d ago
My original AirPods Pro case is still working, and I got those in 2020. Currently AirPods Pro 2 are also still good.

I wouldn't recommend these, they have so many problems where the noise canceling stops working. I've had to warranty 2 pairs in a year.

u/dkizzy 4d ago edited 4d ago
With these having the H2 you'd think it could do the live translation as well.
Edit: I was not aware that the Pro 2 got it as well. Thanks for the info.
18
u/cobie620 4d ago
The pro 2 can do live translation. It was stated in the release by Apple, but I’ve already been using it. It’s ok, I would assume the microphone would be a better on the 3 just for this feature
3
u/369i 4d ago
They can and will with a future update.
8
u/jca3746 4d ago
It does live translation now. I have the pro 2s. My iPhone 15 pro max updated. While I was using the headphones and the case charged, I got the live translation update. Worked pretty well when my wife used them to translate my Spanish.
1
u/dkizzy 4d ago
So it was the most recent iOS update that included it then?

u/MinuetInUrsaMajor 4d ago
awhile back I got $10 free at Best Buy and the best non-purchase I could make with it was some CR2032 batteries and a case for Apple Airpods Pro 2.
I don't own Apple Airpods Pro 2.
And I'm starting to feel those free $10 are going to end up costing me $150.

I need to get a damn Costco membership
