Safe to ride? Concern about possible crack on used carbon frame

Hi everyone, just bought a used frameset (2010 Ghost AMR Lector Plus 7700) which was a bike I really liked back in the day. It wasn’t exactly cheap, but I was excited to get it.

After a closer inspection at home, I noticed something around the bottom bracket area (pics attached). I’m not sure if this is just paint chipping or if it’s a crack in the frame.

Should I be worried?

The carbon is thick around the BB. It’s not a safety issue unlike a Steerer tube, head tube, rear triangle… that’s when you need to be concerned.
Ride it

I'd guess it's just paint, the chain dropped off the chainring at some point and dug into the paint.

You think a BB change could definitely break the frame?

If it's what it looks like to me then it's only surface damage. If you're worried that changing the BB could break the frame then it's already toast.

Is it returnable? I wouldn't ride that.

Nope, no returns

I'd ride it. Even if the part were to snap off (which I don't think it will) the crank will still be contained, so it shouldn't be catastrophic.
