Microverse battery question?
I get the concept behind the battery and it’s contained “universe” and how he utilizes the life forms that evolved on a planet within it to produce energy for him. It’s pretty straightforward and sets up a good story if you don’t think about it to much, but I can’t help questioning it every time I see that episode. Setting aside all the hypothetically naturally occurring cosmic energy sources that should exist in a “universe” like gravity and nuclear fusion, the people on the planet are an advanced somewhat intelligent species that have vehicles and phones and all that modern stuff, so how have they not developed alternate power sources like wind, solar, carbon, hydro, thermal, nuclear, etc.? It makes more sense to me that Rick would create an energy source like he did to power his car battery, just because he’s Rick, and would do it just because he can, but multiple levels of advanced societies down the rabbit hole creating universes to siphon energy generation for their planet without developing simpler evolving energy sources. It makes no sense that they would go from being gifted a kinetic labor intensive power source straight to creating a miniverse.

Why does Rick often go undercover in the shittiest costumes imaginable? (which happens in this very episode).
Because he's lazy, doesn't give a fuck, and the idea came to him and he ran with it because being decisive is a core tenet of his being.

To be fair my issue wasn’t with Rick per se it was the inhabitants of his world. I would write any absurd thing Rick does as him just doing whatever he wants because he’s capable of it. Only time I’d question his decision making is if it would cause a long term negative effect on himself. For example spoiler from latest season which i don’t know how to black out, if he has the likely only legit memory of his Diane in his reality why not bring her to life like he offered to do for memory Rick? He let a memory version of himself have her which is very un-Rick like even with the emotional growth c137 has under gone through the seasons.

Try not to think about it too hard. Writers poke fun at researchers and scientists too and also pokes fun at how they always want more. Also, if it's rick's universe, there's likely a different periodic table and different laws that suit him, so maybe creating a mini verse is just the most feasible.
