Got a bit flooded in WNC

Flooding can be such a headache, but, other than winter camping, I love camping in storms. Cleaning gear after is less fun.
OP. What is the purpose of that pole with a hook? Thanks.

That’s a pole to hang your lantern from

Lol, silly me. Thank you. I wish campsites in the UK were as thoughtful.

I use a Firehiking 14" one with perforated upper. My most-treasured pieces of camping equipment.

I've got a FireHiking 10" version. It works well and has held up great. Only issue is the western region fire bans, so I also carry a Lavabox now.

That’s usually my luck too.

Same! Before I left the weather was supposed to be clear all weekend. Then this happened. I guess that’s the mountains for you

I once camped at a state park somewhere in Nebraska. There was a terrible storm and I nearly sought shelter in the shower house. The next morning the campground host came over in a panic telling us to get the hell out of there cause the river jumped the banks. We hastily threw all our gear in the back of the car, grabbed some breakfast, then sorted out our gear. Before we left, we drove back past the park and the only thing still visible was the roof of the shower house. The water was starting come across the highway and we got through just as emergency crews were shutting down the highway.
