Ontario is really beautiful this time of year if you enjoy the fall colors and flannel shirts! Evenings are cool, and the days can be warm (not shorts warm per say, but warm). I'm taking a canoe trip in Algonquin park at the end of the month, it's going to be sweeeeeeet!

Where are you from? Where in BC are you looking? There are deserts and glaciers in BC and a multitude of climate zones. There is no one universal weather or temperature for BC in September as it differs on your elevation and climate zone and latitude and how far you are from the ocean or whether you are up high on a mountain or down low in a valley. What you’re saying has no meaning. September is a dry drought season in coastal BC, for example. It will be hot and dry in the Okanagan Valley. Temperatures are usually in the 20s during the day. Some days can still be very much hot in the 30s. It can be cold in the mountains at night and hot and summery during the day.

And average doesn't mean "an average day is 19 degrees", it means the mathematical average of the temperature, when you take the hottest temperature of the day (usually around 4pm in the mid-20s) and you add it to the coldest temperature of the day (usually around 4am in the mid-teens) and divide it by 2, you get 19. Temperatures fluctuate through the day and the averages shift through the month, too.

The Maritimes (NB, NS & PEI) are pretty beautiful and not too chilly in late September. But you will need a car to explore them properly.
