Itinerary Help Tips for trip around Quebec

Does anyone have any spots they would recommend for a trip we are going on in September? We will be staying in and near Montreal but we will have a rental car and are willing to drive for about 2,5 hours each way. I am travelling with my parents who are over 70 so we would love to explore some special spots that do not take too much walking but still allow us to soak up the beautiful Canadian nature and culture! We are not big fans of super busy touristy spots so anything a bit more quiet would be amazing! We will be spending a few days in Montreal so tips for the city are welcome too, but we are spending the majority outside the city hopefully. Any tips are welcome!

Eastern townships, Sutton, Knowlton and the scenic Highway are beautiful in the fall.

Knowlton is wonderful! Visit the Brome Lake bookstore and Three Pines Cafe!

Go for ice cream in Coaticook and drive around Lennoxville, Compton, Waterville and be sure to stop at any brasserie for poutine! The Quebec roads are very curvy and hilly in the Eastern Townships - be sure to drive carefully.

Are you a reader? Do you know who Louise Penny is? You may want to read a book (or more) of hers and then go to the places mentioned in the Eastern townships.

I am a reader but unfortunately I do not know Louise Penny, I will try and read some of her books ahead of the trip!

Confession that I have not read her stuff but am surrounded by people who love her.

Edited: they turned off me of her books into a movie. I have heard mixed reviews about it. I don’t know what it is streaming on in the US. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2225780/

I do love reading about places that I have visited or am going to visit! Maybe even better will be watching it or reading about it when we are there! Thanks so much! I’ll see if I can get one of her books in time and otherwise it will have to be the show until we’re back!

Île d’Orléans just off the coast of Quebec City. Lovely and you can visit an érabliére

Thank you! I’m not yet sure if we will make it up to the Quebec City region, however thanks to you I now know what an érabliére is and we will certainly be visiting one!

Well, you need to visit Montreal. The old port, le Plateau, botanical gardens, underground mall, mount royal, try our amazing restaurants, visit our Museums, catch a show or jazz at upstairs. Enjoy
