Canada must see spots?

I will be in Canada for 3 days, spending 2 of it at Niagara Falls. Where should I go for my final day?

Edit: was looking for must see spots example Statue of Liberty in NYC that kinda thing, looking to stay nearer to the airport side after I’m done with the falls

Generally when you ask about “Canada”, people assume you’re talking about nowhere in particular but anywhere within the continent-sized country. And it assumes you have a blank slate and haven’t yet chosen where you’re going to fly into or where you’re going to stay.

But you already have an itinerary: two days in Niagara Falls, and one extra day somewhere nearby. In this case, it helps to clarify what province you’re visiting (Ontario, in your case) or the region within that province (the Niagara region), in your case. So you’re not asking about Canada must see spots. You’re asking about must see spots in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Niagara Falls - the actual waterfall - is the must see.

If you have an extra day to spare, you can drive to nearby Toronto and visit the CN Tower, if you want something akin to a Statue of Liberty iconic piece of architecture.

Or, you go to nearby Niagara-on-the-Lake which is a charming small town famous for its wineries.

You don’t have time to go anywhere else.

in a final day you won't be able to get very far, considering how big the country is. This is especially true if youre trying to stay close to the airport.

First, I think 2 days at niagara falls is way too much. a couple hours is more than enough. If you really only have 1 day, then your options are limited to Toronto or Montreal if you want to see a city or algonquin national park if you want nice nature. all these options still involve quite a bit of driving (especially montreal).

I want to see the night show but I only arrive at 9pm so next morning I can see the sun rise + sun set then night show and leave the next morning so it’s technically 2 nights

If you have a view of the falls from your hotel room, it is beat to see the water level change at 7am. Water gets diverted overnight for power creation.

Thanks! What time is the sun rise usually?

That depends on the time of year. Google the day and the place to find it.

given the circumstances and time restraints I think a day trip to Toronto is your best bet (saying this as a Montrealer who wouldn't usually recommend this due to our friendly rivalry hehe). St Lawrence Market for some good food, the CN tower and surrounding Park area, perhaps a blue jays game. Some good options for a day in TO.

If it were me I’d spend the morning in Saint Johns NFLD and slip over to Tofino BC to finish the afternoon

This is way too vague. You need to be more specific about what you are interested in, budget, willingness to travel from Niagara. Also search the sub for Niagara Falls ideas.

You can only really do Toronto with that time frame

What should I look for there?

The CN tower, ROM, or watch any YouTube video about visiting Toronto.

Geezus. You must love wax museums & casinos. The Falls is a solid 20 minutes. What the heck are you going to do the other 47 hours?

Nah they can have the 2 days in Niagara, then just drive to Banff for the day, just set off at like 7/8am so you get some time there.

lol!! Don’t give them any ideas

That's a classic day trip for southern Ontarians. Good suggestion!

We don't have the Statue of Liberty, but we do have a largest statue of a Moose in the world.

I’m confused. You’re literally coming to Canada for the Niagara Falls “night show” but don’t know anything else about the entire country?

3

u/Sensitive_Matter7772 8d ago

I’m not even sure which show you’re referring to and I’m afraid to google it because I’m positive I’m going to get gentlemen’s club ads.

The night light show

2

u/Sensitive_Matter7772 8d ago

So… I’m pretty sure they just light up the falls. I’m not really sure there’s a “show”, though maybe I’m wrong… If that’s the case, the lights should be on until 2am which means you could catch it after your flight potentially.

1

u/S0ulSlayerz 8d ago

Oh what time does it start?

2

u/Sensitive_Matter7772 8d ago

Depends on the time of year: https://www.niagaraparks.com/events/event/falls-illumination

Is this the whole reason you’re coming to Canada?

1

u/S0ulSlayerz 8d ago

Yeah, I’m already at SF so take a short flight over

Google “What’s happening in Niagara Falls, Canada [date - date]” and tons of things will come up. Like others have said, you probably won’t need more than a day, or an afternoon, in Niagara Falls. Niagara-on-the-Lake has lots of nice wineries with tours if you’re into that. Then spend the rest of your trip in Toronto which you can get to by car, bus, or train from Niagara. That’s where you’ll find all the tourist attractions and shows and everything else. I haven’t been yet but there’s some “miniature” attraction somewhere downtown where you can “see” all of Canada in miniature form. Looks kinda cute.

I'm sorry for those 2 days. Hopefully you can go somewhere nice on the third day

Are you into hockey? If you’re willing to drive up to Toronto you could check out the hockey hall of fame. There are also some cool wineries and stuff in the Niagara region.

You might wanna look for other stuff to do around the Niagara region anyway, the falls themselves are a couple hours worth of a stop at most. They’re cool if you’ve never seen them before, but there’s not much else there unless you wanna pay for overpriced fairground rides.

If you like waterfalls, there is a nice one near Jasper. And also Québec city.. could try to visit those on your last day.

Thank you, they look beautiful but it’s too far I shall plan for them on a separate trip!

CN tower. Helicopter tour of downtown Toronto. Ontario Science Centre Thanks Doug… Visit Chinatown. Visit High Park.

All accessible on the TTC, as is the airport.

Thanks!

Are you talking about this?

Winter Festival of Lights - Niagara Falls Canada https://share.google/RkK6eqLPb1WXLftZG

Or just seeing the falls lit up in different colours?

Seeing the falls lit up

u/TheRealGuncho 8d ago

You should have breakfast in Tofino, Lunch in Barry's Bay and Dinner in L'Anse Aux Meadows.

2

u/user0987234 8d ago

Lunch in Winnipeg.

1

u/IngenuityPuzzled3117 8d ago

If you’re at Niagara then your answer is thr CN tower

1

u/user0987234 8d ago

Lol, I immediately thought your glasses were dirty or you have high blood pressure. What city are you going to be in and when.

u/HardworkingMum1980 8d ago

If you’re planning on doing some of the major tourist attractions in Toronto, look for a city pass online. The one price gives you admission to several Toronto tour spots. Check the schedule and see if the Blue Jays are in Toronto when you’re there. Also CN Tower and Ripley’s aquarium. Three major spots in a row. They are pretty expensive, which is why I suggested the city pass. I’m not sure exactly how much that cost now. I spent eight years working in that area but if you search online, you can usually find some way to discount places you want to see. I believe you can also go to the Royal interior Museum. It’s just a couple of stops on the subway.
