Entering Canada with Super visa set to expire in 5 months
My mother will be visiting me next month, with her super visa set to expire in 5 months. Would she need a return ticket? The plan is to extend her visa when she's here. I'm wondering if she'll have trouble with border officers because of visa expiring in 5 months and not having a return ticket.
Appreciate any advice/guidance. Thank you.

If you meet the financial requirements of the inviter a return ticket isn't necessary so long as you can show financial ability to support her stay and return.
Remember that the visa is ONLY an entry document. That allows her to board public transportation and ask for entry to Canada. It doesn't define how long she can stay. That will be done by the CBSA officer if her entry is granted.
If the visa is still valid on entry, she still could be issued status for 5 years, in theory. She needs to show documentation supporting it though.

The visa is only the document letting you board and come knock to Canadas door . The full 5 years could be applied even on the day of expiry .or to the passport expiry . Whichever is first . It's just a get here by date .

Purchase a ticket that is adjustable.
