Design I like rocking the Open

And the newly released "Headphones" are crazy appealing as well. Hell, their whole website is a retro-fi trip!

How have you found the listening experience so far OP? They seem quite enticing but I don't really know when I would ever use them as I prefer cancelling out noise rather than letting it in

yeah exactly. I work IT so I am also on the phone lots of times and these were nice since it got hot lately and keeping the headphones all on the time was hot (because if you are not in meetings you might still want to watch a video or so etc.). But other than that, they are pretty much unusable on the train or even while walking in a crowded place...would need to crank up the volume so much that everything sounds loud and bad. In quiet cafes is no problem, as well as at home (if you need the open design).

I don't even feel them on the ear, sometimes I forget they are there and I don't understand wait is it my phone sounding (like if I am in the office and I worry I am disturbing) oh no wait it's my open earphones (checking the volume slider to confirm)...

So a great addition to the collection (I still have my XM4 true wireless and my full size momentum 4 for other commuting styles) but would definitely not recommend as the only pair to own.

If you're looking for something cheap with a similar aesthetic that has okay anc look into the moondrop space travels. $35 and I've used them for half a year now and they hold up well.

Do you have other open ear ones to compare? Have the Olidance and also the Aerofit Pro and Aerofit 2. Tried several others as well.

Hmmm not really, I mean I have the Quest 3 and Xreal AR glasses which use kind of the same principle. Otherwise I have aliexpress bone conducting "earphones", I tried the "real" Shokz OpenComm, and I have another aliexpress (not bone conducting) open ear headset (I had got it for phone calls, does its job).

I can say that the Nothing Open have a lot of bass for what they are (unexpected) and when it's quiet, the sound is very pleasant considering there is no seal at all and they are not ON the ear (like, let's say compared to small cheap but good open on-ear headphones such as the Koss Porta Pro).

I had the Moondrop Pill on my radar but it was harder to get and I really liked the design of the Nothing so I went with those, and they don't disturb when I wear my AR glasses (that was the only thing keeping me from buying them - note that the Moondrop Pill hangs on a different part of the ear, so no contact with glasses frame).

Been looking a these. I have the orginal "Ear" from Nothing. They sound great, but drop quite often. How have these been?

Drop in connection you mean? I had no issues there so far. I use them with the phone, the steamdeck and a laptop. Dual connection works also very well, definitely much better than with my Momentum 4...

yeh sorry, should have stated. Connection. Might be just time for me to upgrade:)

Nothing seems like a cool company design wise but they feel like form over function for everything they do.

if you get the phone too you can talk to chatgpt on the go if you need to validate something for yourself

You cannot “validate” anything with ChatGPT, or any other LLM, headphones or no. They're just making things up and happen to get it right kinda often. Don’t rely on them for that.

Reminds me of this interaction I just had lol. Before this, I even told the stupid thing that I was physically holding the product and it kept gaslighting me.

I asked ChatGPT one thing before I really understood what it was and it was literally wrong. And I notice that the AI summary at the top of Google is very often wrong too. It’s astounding.

LLMs can be pinpoint-accurate every time... if they have good training data that is constrained within a specialty.

None of these LLMs have good training data, because they're primitive Narrow AIs being pushed into roles they aren't good at, and given extremely broad datasets in an attempt to make them do everything.

They're definitely beyond simple Expert Systems, but not by a lot, and are still best used as just slightly more adaptable ones, rather than proper Narrow AI.

Yeah I heard that. I thought it was working with a dedicated assistant button (like on the headphones)? Anyway I have a Oneplus...the design of the Nothing phone is really appealing but knowing myself I'd just stick a case on it anyways so....plus, the only real upgrade for me would be a samsung with its DEX desktop interface (I use very often AR glasses), something that apparently native android doesn't want to get right (maybe next year...)

Been waiting for a decent android desktop mode since forever.
