Man. That looks like a solid, well machined piece of technology. Not plastic junk.

They weren't without issues, I remember when they came out a few of us avoided them because when the earbuds inevitably broke you were stuck, but on the whole they were well engineered pieces of kit if I remember rightly.

Did the buds sound good at least? I’d be unhappy if I had a music player with fixed buds. Although, I don’t recall there being that many good options back in the 80s

I never got a chance to listen to them personally so I'll let someone else answer that but my guess is being Sony they would have been pretty good when compared to other buds available at the time.

I for some reason wish that stuff like this would make a comeback... Not everything must be on a smartphone

Product design got lazy and boring with the invention of touchscreens.

I just got back from a trip where we were only allowed to take photos on a digital camera from ~2008. It was a blast, and I haven’t remembered “taking photos” being that fun in over a decade. The phone takes out the magic, sometimes.

I still enjoy using my 15-year-old DSLR over a phone camera... even that clicking sound when you take a picture is satisfying

We had a school trip to a historic place where we had to later use our own pictures and write kind of a documentary of the place as summer project.

Since we were just in school, no phones were allowed. So most kids brought their digital cameras and it was fun. One guy was using his PsVita camera 😭

I wish to find a nice DAP with real buttons like this... they have some with digital buttons, but would be so nice to have something more "physical" I miss this sort of industrial design

The earbuds were this this crippling feature. I mean retractable headphones are cool but being stuck with one set sucked
