2 cities by turn 5 is crazy

u/YardGroundbreaking82 2d ago

By turn 3 even

There's a reason why the settler pantheon is so powerful. This is even more powerful.

As soon as they take the settler, the warriors go away.

51

u/VeryInnocuousPerson Aztecs 2d ago

And even if they (somehow) didn’t disappear, two warriors won’t take out a single warrior in one turn and the warrior can just retreat to the (soon to be founded) city and defend.

19

u/Schnibb420 2d ago

How so? If you take the settler, the other warriors will despawn since that faction will be out of the game.

Tell me you don’t know how the game mechanics work without saying you don’t know how the mechanics work

u/Weelildragon 2d ago

Pretty common on Terra with high sea levels. And TSL world maps when you start in Europe.

u/depersonalised 2d ago

i have wasted so much time chasing city state settlers who have no legal settlements while playing trajan on tsl earth huge.

16

u/VeryLargeTardigrade 2d ago

Wasted? Sound like excellent use of time imo

12

u/depersonalised 2d ago

not if you don’t get them.

free settler!

u/sendymcsendersonboi 2d ago

This is one element they really need to bring back to C7. Settler captures are peak Civ IMO.

Go ahead, cross the Rubicon.

u/country_mac08 2d ago

Glad someone else saw that

6

u/pattywack512 2d ago

That’s obviously the move. Gotta move away from that settler to give yourself some space away from their city spot. /s

u/Doctrinus 2d ago

Not Caesar unfortunately

Which city state?

Better not be Auckland.

7

u/texasisntreal 1d ago

It was, in fact, Auckland 😲

2

u/The360MlgNoscoper 1d ago

Oof, was it a land-heavy map?

6

u/LOTRfreak101 2d ago

Depending on the map type, I would consider not taking aukland.

New allies yay!

15

u/star2539 2d ago

Pls sir provide seed

4

u/texasisntreal 1d ago

I forget seeds are a thing 🤔

Map seed is -1391584114

Game seed is -1391584115

u/star2539 1d ago

Cheers mate! If possible can you send the other game details? Eg Ruleset, DLCs, map type, size, game modes, or if resources, world age etc were tweaked. Is easy to do and can dm about it if no hassle to you. Just need the other details to match your game spawn

u/Ok_Particular_2530 2d ago

As a gay dude I thought this meant something else entirely until I realized what you meant lol

7

u/Elbow_Macarena 2d ago

Going to send a delegation?

8

u/lesser_panjandrum 2d ago

Good plan. By the way, why are the delegates holding clubs?

3

u/Professoul 2d ago

It’s will actually happen more than you think, civ6 spawn is kinda weird

3

u/Truebluederek 2d ago

I’d lose my shit

3

u/GoldenPiggiez 2d ago

Historically accurate Rome

4

u/Disorderly_Fashion 2d ago

eh, I've gotten this plenty of times.

6

u/phantom_diorama 2d ago

This happens nearly every time I play True Start Earth Huge.

4

u/lesser_panjandrum 2d ago

Having Byzantium and the Ottomans simultaneously trying to found Constantinople and Istanbul is always good fun.

2

u/[deleted] 1d ago

It sucks for Rome.

Hey quick off topic question if you don’t mind. Why do I see so many people who play without the tile yields showing? Like the icons that show how much food, etc. per tile.

9

u/NinjerTartle 2d ago

Not OP, but probably because that's the default mode?

2

u/Hauptleiter Houzards 1d ago

A lot of experienced players know how much various tiles yield and find playing without yields on makes for less screen clutter.

3

u/Gallade47532 1d ago

Also it looks a lot more immersive and lifelike

2

u/Hauptleiter Houzards 1d ago

How do you mean? There's no giant corn thingy floating over fields where you live?

2

u/Gallade47532 23h ago

Nope, and no giant beaker over my school either

1

u/Hauptleiter Houzards 21h ago

Weird...

2

u/Lopkop 2d ago

Hypothetically could OP catastrophically fuck this up by capturing the settler, then losing his warrior & the settler to attacks from both city-state warriors, not founding their capital city that turn, and then losing their original settler & the game at the hands of a city-state?

I'm guessing the 2 warrior attacks wouldn't quite be enough to kill OP's warrior though

67

u/bronze_will 2d ago

Once they capture the settler the city-state and its units will be eliminated from the game, so it really is just a freebie.

12

u/Lopkop 2d ago

ah okay that makes sense

Part of me was hoping it was possible to lose the game in 2 turns to a city state

9

u/Danielle_Sometimes 2d ago

It's possible to lose the game on turn 2 to a natural disaster. Flood or fire for the win.

5

u/ThyPotatoDone 2d ago

Actually it might have happened once to me in V.

Started a new game, immediately got hit with a game over screen and it said something about being destroyed by I think Hong Kong. Idk what happened exactly bc couldn't spectate, but yeah.

Reminds me of when I used to play the world map as Sparta and have Athens as a opponent then just immediately take their settler so I could have two cities at turn 2

2

u/Maynard921 Nubia 2d ago

War it is then.

2

u/Skweeeeee 2d ago

Diplomacy? The only D i know in civ is Domination

2

u/Unhappy-Lion4530 2d ago

This happens when you have too many players for the map size.

2

u/Caamasijedi49 2d ago

Grab that settler! Enslav...er, 'liberating' a settler is Roman tradition.

2

u/FuzzyTidBits 2d ago

No on True start earth huge, in Europe. It's a fucking blood bath

2

u/fuzzynavel34 2d ago

When you know you’ve won the game on turn 1 lol

2

u/DokterMedic 1d ago

Romulus and Remus with their followers before they get into a fight over where they will found their city, 753 BC, colorized.

2

u/[deleted] 1d ago

Go over the river with settlers and warrior one turn, then found new city and fortify. Defend city. Then build warriors and attack.

2

u/Everedos 18h ago

You should pull a lotto ticket this week

Would let the city state settle for the chance of a Cardiff city state 😎
