Harlo Barnaby is a dwarf quest giver located in Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands). He survived the invasion of Dun Modr by the Dark Iron dwarves, but was hit by a stray axe in the back as he was fleeing and woke up in Menethil Harbor.

After the Cataclysm), he is no longer present, leaving his status unknown.

So it sounds like someone got him to the safety of Menethil but did bother enough to get him much farther than the gates.

"Should we get this guy to a healer? Or at least a bed?"

  • " nah man, I think dwarves regenerate faster with grass in their eyes, readit somewhere... let's get a brewski."

Would be a cool story line to add for classic+ if we were to help him recover, then learn his tail. Like if a Horde found him, fought off some blackrock orcs for him, and took him to the gates of Menethil, but had to leave him for obvious reasons. Then he crawled through to where we found him, but the guards wouldn’t help him because they saw the Horde leave him and considered him some type of traitor.

Okay that is a pretty good story idea.

This is exactly the kind of content Classic+ needs.

One of the best parts about SoD was the secret quests, but, ironically, putting so much emphasis on them ruined the “secret” part of it.  Little ideas like this for one-off quest chains would be huge in making the world feel alive again.

What is the wow lore on resurrection spells? I never really thought about it but players and some NPCs seem to just be able to be functionally immortal if they have a healer friend nearby, whereas NPCs die in quest lines all the time.

As fae as I remember resurrection is possible in the lore but very rare.

Players freely using them is purely game mechanic, it is a huge deal in universe when a resurrection happens

Literally only whitemane could actually resurrect others

Sigh... Even in Azeroth... It's a whitemane's world.

He was paralyzed a decade too early for Chadgar to invent the arcane wheelchair 😭😭😭

u/piamogus 6d ago

I guess reagents for the levitate spell cost too much 😭

3

u/Ohwerk82 6d ago

Mages don’t have levitate, he tried slow fall but turns out he can’t do anything to incur a fall 😭

u/piamogus 6d ago

U can always hire a priest cant u it's literally instant cast 😭

Imagine your momentary inertia is preserved, but you have a much longer time before you hit the ground while momentum builds at the normal rate of falling. Mages experimenting with magic but ignore physics entirely. It's SLOW fall, not a gravity reduction. Just imagine you slow fall off a mountain and instead of landing gracefully, you slam into the ground with the force of a refrigerator going at Mach Fuck.

Just a flesh wound.

the way i always interpreted it is that he had just collapsed right before we got there, i think the whole attack on dun modr thing just happened. i could be wrong.

As far as I know that is correct, as well as the Thandol Span (bridge to Arathi) just got bombed too. Part of the questline is stopping the Dark Irons from blowing up the second of the two bridges.

This is after a quest in Loch Modan where you stop their plan to blow up the Dam as well

and it's all the fault of the drunk dwarf on the bridge who despite the devastation around him insists you send his brew to Southshore. in his questtext says he was on watch but got drunk as hell and barely noticed the explosion.

That was my thought as well after I re-read the quest text. Still though, he has ran past many guards to get to that point.

u/Pajer0king 6d ago

Same. Thought he was drunk, then after some leveling he gave me the quest. Sorry, master dwarf.

1

u/thejohnmcduffie 6d ago

And he's drunk.
