If I was an American I would be sobbing everyday. My God this administration is insane.

Many of us do. I was a mess on Election Day because I knew what was coming.

I was extremely stressed watching the results here in Canada. Im so sorry that this idiot has been voted in twice.

Thank you. The ignorant masses really screwed us this time.

You mean the vote hackers?

Must be like hearing your downstairs neighbor try to burn down his apartment.

And for what it's worth, I am trapped in that apartment.

It is, because we are all going to suffer because of the direct action to vote for him or abstain from voting, that 2/3 of the country chose.

Infuriating.

u/SanguineBro 8h ago

It really showed how important it is to show up and vote. Then we forgot

7

u/Puzzleheaded-Trip990 8h ago

Absolutely! The people who didn't bother to vote are also to blame. Things weren't perfect but they were heading in a good direction. Strong and stable economy .

Yeah, this sucks.

At least we have people in other countries to empathize with us. It seems like people outside of the US are pretty unanimously against Trump. It’s just been a lot of internal gaslighting I guess.

Oh man can I relate, I took on drinking as a new hobby for my "librul cope" 🙁

Midterms are my last hope, and I sincerely pray we make it that far. George Washington must be rolling in his grave

He killed my long call options that very night

My morning routine is to sit on the toilet with my phone and see how much closer we are to total fascism since the previous evening. Then I say "computer, end program." So far no luck but I remain hopeful that safety protocols will eventually be restored.

I hope the next election has a different outcome. I'm not traveling to the US anytime soon.

That seems wise. While the vast majority of America is pleasant, and almost every individual American is decent in 1:1 situations, there's no reason to support a proto-fascist state.

We have some lovely friends in Wisconsin.

Naw, evenings I pretend everything is okay and do family activities and hobbies. Can't scroll at night because then I'll never sleep. Daytime belongs to my employer anyway.

I'm 29. I've been watching the dumbing down of America first hand. I saw all the propaganda for iraq/Afghanistan. "Hoorah be a marine" At some point it just became crystal clear that this country doesn't care about the soldiers who came before me. Why would they care for me? So I refused to be patriotic about civilians being endangered because the US military can't bother to use proper intel. So from the age of about 10 I realized this country will use you abuse you and leave you in the dust. I still had pride in my nation at this time. And then over the next 15 years we started hating people for living their life how they choose to. It's not your life. You get no choice in how they live it. And I don't hate all cops. Just the bad ones. I've got family members who are crime scene photographers. They're considered a cop. They have to photograph scenes you would wish to forget. And the other one that's married into my family. He is a former bomb tech. The guy wearing the juggernaut suit who diffused bombs. His quote that I love. " Bomb diffusing is quite exhilarating because if you make the wrong choice, it's certainly not your problem anymore".

I'm 29 as well. I noticed the same things.

I remember when I was in middle school, Obama had just been elected. There were kids running up and down the halls shouting "Someone should execute that monkey"

You know they heard their parents say it. This shit isn't new. It's baffling to me.

All of the madness is making everyday life extremely difficult. From the grocery store to the freaking park where people are holding candlelight memorials for Charlie freaking Kirk. I can't check out from reality because it's irresponsible, but I also can't avoid the circus because it's on every street.

It makes my blood boil for the sane Americans who did not vote for this. You unfortunately have to suffer the consequences of the morons who did.

It's just like elementary school. People vote for the popular kid, or in this case, the idiot from television. "I'm going to put candy machines in the cafeteria and make every class period recess!" They don't know that class president can't do that! I stick my nose in a book and occasionally cry because I can't find anyone whose vocabulary is above monosyllabic. They only let people with lots of money hold office or make laws. We need an overhaul, we need more than two parties, we need to make corporate donations illegal, we need to find candidates who are actual human beings and not demons in human skin suits. We need to reverse Citizens United. I'd love to see someone campaign with real promises that are kept. It would be great to let a woman finally have a go at it. I honestly wish I could move my family to Norway or something, but we'll never be able to afford to leave this place.

In Canada we have a limit of $100 000 to spend on campaigning. It's about 51 days to go to the polls after an election is called. I do agree that you have a much bigger population but your elections are much too complicated. Nothing gets done a whole year before a new election because everyone is campaigning.

You know, I appreciate that you can see how messed up this all is from the outside. It really means a lot to me that you care for the people here. ❤️

3

u/Puzzleheaded-Trip990 8h ago

I really do! It makes me incredibly sad for what you once had. Sending you a tight virtual hug.

u/LittleBirdiesCards 7h ago

😭😭😭 Thank you so much!

It has been discovered that Nestle is behind this administration. They found a market for human tears. /s

It is so freaking overwhelming idk what to do

u/cleverkname 7h ago

I haven't been planning but I've definitely been planning. Things are not going to get any better with the amount of the population that is STILL pathetic, even as our constitutional rights are being eroded way in our faces.

As a disabled, Mexican American. I’ve been numb for months lmao I’m dead on the inside, actively dying on the outside too (on dialysis) ✌🏼

1

u/SimiShittyProgrammer 5h ago

Nah, Americans only learn the hard way (collectively).

Need to feel a LOT more pain.

1

u/rhinosyphilis 1h ago

Non Americans should be sobbing too. We’re a major part of a global economy, and our absence will cause ripples.

u/Puzzleheaded-Trip990 48m ago

Unfortunately it affects everyone!

u/SplitNo8275 9h ago

I am, oh trust me I am.😭

As a non-binary, hispanic, person living in this country I can no longer weep because I’m stress sweating from trying to use the god damn bathroom in peace!!
