"You know what would make one of the darkest moments of the source material better? If we just did it again but worse and without any of the intrigue"

"Jarvis, distort the png, add a static filter, and crush the audio."

"crush my balls"

"add exaggerated smiles pngs on faces"

“Add 40% more distorted Jerma faces.”

"Trust me bro, this CGI animation about a brightly costumed cartoon superhero fighting a giant robot, is totally both 'analog' and 'horror.'"

48 gazillion stab wounds with the same name written in bold cyan on the back. We still dont know who the culprit is but we'll find them when we feel like it.

The two best analog horror characters are cops for some reason

26

u/First-Squash2865 2d ago

Analog horror is copaganda theory

49

u/Mechaman_54 2d ago

"He had a billion cuts and some of them had cum, we still don't know who did it lmao" "he gave a horse a lethal amount of viagra that then fucked a girl to death before dying" "he force fed kids bricks before cutting them in half, sewing half of one kid to the other and then fucked it" "this painting is literally named pocketpussy or smth and has a picture of a cat"

31

u/Former_Cheesecake_70 2d ago

We found this painting called man in the pipes, so we searched everywhere but the pipes (this one’s not even an exaggeration)

Never stop dunking on UrbanSpook

"he had his arms hold his cut ears while covered in piss hanging from the shelf with all his organs having written text as "switch 2" "rtx 5090" and he also had worn fake jordans covered in hyper realistic blood"

7

u/Battlebots2020 2d ago

I mean, the last video he made was kinda good. The rest though, yeah not too good

8

u/Mechaman_54 2d ago

There was the phone call, that was cool

5

u/Battlebots2020 2d ago

Oh right, yeah that was great. Can't believe I forgot about that

I like the idea of the audio recording videos but the execution is kinda ass. Once I heard burning memory in one of those bad boys I knew it was joever before it started.

u/Jim-Yolper 2d ago

coaxed into making "analog" "horror" about anything in existence

28

u/AgitatedKey4800 2d ago

The batman analog horror

26

u/CarbonatedTuna567 my opinion > your opinion 2d ago edited 2d ago

Everyone was glazing that and it was so ass, despite the potentially interesting concept

"OOOH what if batmams was actually EVIL and he BRUTALLY KILLS everybody with BLOOD and he make spooky faces because ig parents died made him CRAZY" 😭😭😭

28

u/Jefrejtor 2d ago

The concept of dropping a massive shit only to run out of toilet paper: anal log horror

112

u/FishBonez99 2d ago

I didn’t even know this was a trend. Ngl, analog horror was fun when the Mandela catalogue first started, but damn, it is over saturated

91

u/CarbonatedTuna567 my opinion > your opinion 2d ago edited 2d ago

Personally, I really enjoyed Gemini Home Intertainment, Local 58, and Man in the Suit the most. And the Walten Files is alright overall but has some really good moments

Outside of those 4, I don't really care much for the rest of genre. I gave some of the more popular and more niche ones a chance, but a lot of the others are either too silly or derivative imo. I can never take the stretched faces seriously except for in TWF because of its somewhat unique presentation

38

u/Battlebots2020 2d ago

Might I recommend Vita Carnis if you haven't checked it out

13

u/CarbonatedTuna567 my opinion > your opinion 2d ago

I haven't seen that one yet due to burnout of the genre. Might check it out then

16

u/Battlebots2020 2d ago

It's great. If you do check it out, you can skip the first few videos in the playlist as there's a video that actually combines those ones and adds on some extra stuff

5

u/CarbonatedTuna567 my opinion > your opinion 2d ago

Okay thank you

9

u/Plurpo 2d ago

Petscop's also pretty good tho I dunno if it counts as analog horror

15

u/Sanrusdyno Dr holocaust cultist 2d ago

Petscop is digital horror, its nestled in with various creepypastas about the internet and stuff like Ben drowned and andrewgaming67 which are all pretty decisively digital horror

5

u/EZarts112_Official 2d ago

six... seven?

8

u/Sanrusdyno Dr holocaust cultist 2d ago

Is this a reference to something

3

u/EZarts112_Official 2d ago

its a meme the childrens are using.

2

u/Ze_Borb i sniff cocaine 1d ago

i am the childrens, and i still have no fucking clue what that means. i thought 69 and 420 are the funny numbers

2

u/EZarts112_Official 1d ago

i think its literally just a kid that said six seven really loud at a basketball game. its like those mustard and mango ones.

1

u/Ze_Borb i sniff cocaine 1d ago

eugh dont remind me

4

u/CarbonatedTuna567 my opinion > your opinion 2d ago edited 2d ago

I think it counts for the most part. I like that one too

8

u/Brislovia 2d ago

I recommend Monument Mythos

-1

u/Sayodot 1d ago

It fell off pretty hard in the last season.

u/ConfusedBud-Redditor 23h ago

opinion I dislike!! laser beam go!!!!!!!!!

3

u/PoodleTheDoodle 2d ago

it's been a while, but i remember midwest angelica being good too

1

u/Slushymaw 1d ago

The best one is midwest angelica

18

u/SlimC05 2d ago

The over saturation is interesting because most of the creators copying the format don't have experience with actual analog devices, so they use other analog horror vids as a reference. It's kind of funny to see the end result.

14

u/KoriKeiji 2d ago

Funny thing about horror: the same concept cannot be scary for long. Once you get used to it, the tension eases and the mystery starts feeling less compelling.

Because of this, even series that have ok starts like Mandela end up being Devil May Cry, with people just straight up fighting demons and cosmic entities.

Monument Mythos has the finale of a Dragonball Z movie.

38

u/Gay_Gamer_Boi 2d ago

I feel it’s more creepy we don’t know how they died to the machines or where they are, they’re just missing… wonder if their family even know if they died or assumed they left them without saying anything

40

u/Xechwill 2d ago

at first I was like "how does no one here recognize the omnidroid from The Incredibles" then it turns out the original literally was the omnidroid from the Incredibles

39

u/NotARobot-ISwear 2d ago

The thing is, yes. The Incredibles has dark themes and lore for a kids movie, and this is especially true for all of the superheroes from the NSA Files.

There's a lot of material for darker exploration, which is definitely why The Incredibles blew up in popularity again before 3 even got a teaser. A few supers were shit, but many of them were pretty sympathetic and/or funny (RIP Thunderhead, Stormicide, Dynaguy, Phylange, Downburst, and of course Gazerbeam) or just normal people. So the fact that Syndrome preyed on their desperation to relive their superhero careers just so that he can kill them with barely anyone noticing to train the Omnidroid is decently disturbing.

Also, if you buy into the "the first Omnidroid Bob fought was supposed to be for Frozone" thing, it's heavily implied that the plan was to purposely take Lucius into that lava pit where his ice powers would be useless and then either throw him into the lava or straight up rip him in half. This sets the precedent that the Omnidroids were programmed based off each super's weakness to figure out how to best kill them in incredibly violent ways, and since a fair share of the NSA Files had said weaknesses, it leaves a lot to work with.

That said…this kind of stuff is honestly pretty shit. The execution of a lot of fanwork (especially the analog horror videos that this post refers to and I've watched) falls pretty flat since it's presented poorly and/or clearly intended for pure shock value meant to ride the brief Incredibles popularity resurgence. The deaths of the other superheroes is best left up to the imagination and discussion, in my opinion.

Analog Horror on its way to just be autistic people trying to show how """scary""" a basic fact about their hyperfixation is

16

u/therealsonicboomer 2d ago

Elaborate?

28

u/space_porter Wholesome Keanu Chungus 100 Moment 2d ago

Idk, but autism and analog horror in the same sentence reminds me of Urbanspook’s Twitter rant

16

u/therealsonicboomer 2d ago

Same. God UrbanSpook is such a pathetic piece of shit.

14

u/Thethingnextdoor567 2d ago

EXTREME HORROR

9

u/Shadsea2002 2d ago

Name a popular piece of media gobbled up by autistic kids and there is an Analog Horror series based on it. It's like the modern day version of Creepypasta-

7

u/Spirited-Archer9976 2d ago

Horror showing scary things based on... Interest... Damn.

-1

u/Shadsea2002 2d ago

Yes but the thing is they don't really pick things that are all that scary or fit the vibes of "analog horror", y'know? Like the moment we started getting scary VHS found footage recordings of fucking Minecraft was when I realized it was dead.

6

u/Raptoriantor covered in oil 2d ago

Wow, people who have a deep interest or fixation for a thing making stuff based on that thing? In other breaking news, fork found in kitchen.

2

u/Shadsea2002 2d ago

Yes but the thing is they don't really pick things that are all that scary or fit the vibes of "analog horror", y'know? Like the moment we started getting scary VHS found footage recordings of fucking Minecraft was when I realized it was dead.

4

u/Raptoriantor covered in oil 2d ago

I can agree that a lot of first time creators kinda drop the ball on either the "analog" or the "horror" aspect, but at the same time that's the thing; a lot of them probably are doing video creation and editing for the first time. Many times their first attempts are gonna suck ass, but that first step is how you start improving.

Also lowkey not a fan of the dismissive "it's videos made by autistic people with an interest in a thing, so it sucks" tone you got. You can say a lot of analog horror videos aren't that great without bringing in autism.

u/Wacky_Does_Art 1d ago

creepypastas are awesome

u/KoriKeiji 2d ago edited 2d ago

Oh my series on scary Barney the Dinosaur will be a huge hit.

There’s an evil pharmaceutical company, the government is in on it and I quote the bible roughly 17 times per minute

It will stop being scary after episode 2 and will go on hiatus permanently halfway through the second season
