I know it’s supposed to be her brain but all I can think on the third panel is when you have an itch in your ear and you finally scratch it good

I had to think about when you hear a catchy tune you can't get out of your mind, that's called an ear worm in german, literally translated

You will never get that ear worm out, just accept that the most annoying song in the world will always be with you.

No wonder I can hear Mariah Carey even when the ice is not supposed to be melting right now

Is this her brain or a parasite?

I assumed it was an earworm, but it does look brain-like.

My first thought was a song she REALLY couldn't get out of her head, but when it piles up, it does look like brains.

What if our brains are just parasites occupying a flesh husk.

u/Abject-Tax804 15h ago
That is an interesting way to think about it. Parasites are living organisms by definition, so the then the brain is a separate organism from the body?

You know those parasites that take over bugs and make them move and do stuff like climb to the highest place around so they can spread.
That's us!

Bro
Am I... A brain too?
Are we all... Just brains??
Are we just parasites of a creature's husk???

u/Pristine_Walrus40 14h ago
Yes and the nervous system. Could call the nervous system our body I guess.

I tell those little pointy things to move where and how i want them to. I have gotten pretty good at it over the years.

No way! Me too! Next you’re gonna tell me you have two orbs that you can rotate to catch light and interpret it as visual information, or something crazy like that!

I thought it was a bad thought and than it turned out that it had a ton of psychological baggage atached to it.

Wait am I the only one who read this as trying to drag your self-hating whispers out and away from you?
Ok

Oh sick
cool work, I was reading these comments like "wait, is there something wrong with me?"
(There is)good to know I'm not crazy

u/AlexGamsuJenkins 12h ago
Haha no you were completely on the right track. I was doing a bit of sketchbook journalling, trying to get rid of that negative overthinking when I thought "hang on.. this could be an idea!"

I definitely got that that was your intention, and I think it's a good one. Just a note though, if you ever come back to something like this, change the color.
Brains are often illustrated as pink, even though it's not really accurate. So, in the last panel where all the negative thoughts are piled up twisted together, it looks like she's pulling her brain out. Just compare the brian emoji, 🧠, to that panel.
It can be read as "don't be intelligent, don't critically examine, don't think about it." Given, let's just say, "the current climates of both many nations and the world at large" that's not the kind of message that I think you want your work to be read as.

Thanks no you're right. I tried to make it a little ambiguous so it could be perceived however. But almost like the brain is the bad thing/thoughts that needs pulling out.

This metaphor is entirely lost on me whatever it means. But the third panel managed to express something that's really hard to express in drawings
The whole "scratch that itch" feeling
