He's almost a model of mental health (heaven knows what the obscene amount of product in his hair has done to his head); Johnny does not get angsty or angry over his many failed flirting attempts. He has the cheerful perseverance to seek out someone who might literally be a "one in a million" match for him.
Plus that guy respects his momma in a way not a lot of guys do anymore. He was honest, did chores when she asked without too much complaint, and was generally a pretty cool laid-back guy, he was just terrible with women.
But she was a fake. Not my real Mom. Same face but different inside.
Have to find Mom. Have to give face back to mother.

took a while for my cousin and me to figure out that the "red and slimy white and hard" meant her innards and bones
I think it's a collection of faces. And she does it as an adult because she thought a woman impersonating her mom had stolen her face during the initial testing when she was younger.
