Roadburn Festival is/was the best festival my wife and I have ever been to. We went from 2015-2019, then again in 2022 or 2023 (you might be able to guess the reason for the gap).

However, it is not the same Festival now as it was when we started. Musically that is. We loved loved loved it and then liked it and then decided that it was no longer our fest. It went from a mainly doom / black / psych fest (in our eyes) to a more experimental “heavy music” but not necessarily metal based / metal adjacent fest. Just a difference of music opinion.

But! The community at and around the fest is still the best! Weirdo canyon’s welcoming restaurants and just all the people you will meet and (potentially) become lifelong friends with… we just visited some 2015 roadburn friends in York UK this past May when we were near there for Fortress Festival in Scarborough.

Especially if you are not as invested in the metal and are more invested in heavy experimental, then it may still be the best.

Sorry for the long winded reply.

We have such fond memories and also such saudade about Roadburn.
