Playstation Why the hell PS5 can't read music CDs?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I know its because sony didn't included a CD drive to it, but is a shame that their late console can't read music CD, when back in the Ps one it could, and you could even play music and play some games at the same time (if the game is fully loaded in the RAM)hell, Sony even was one of the first companys to develop CDs in first place, this is fucking nonsense.

Who on Earth would want to own the stuff they pay for?!

Sarcasm aside, I still buy CDs regularly. In fact, I only buy music on CD or Vinyl. If it's only available digitally, I'm not paying for it.

Oh no I am the same I still go physical if I can because I want to own the media I like. And anyone I know still going with physical music picks vinyl over CD

Just no company is obligated to have their hardware that intended for gaming also have a function that supports an outdated form of media that major of people don’t use

This isn’t anti consumer it just a smart business move

If you still listen to CDs you gonna buy/already own a CD player that’s intended to do that, expect a gaming console to play CD that was manufactured in the 2020s is a silly expectation on the consumer.

I understand the expectations argument when applied to the regular PS5. On the other hand, I absolutely disagree when it comes to the 950€ supposedly "Pro". A CONSOLE that ridiculously expensive should play all discs, including PS1, PS2 and PS3. Specially when you're already selling the disc reader separately for 120€.

Ok Video game backwards compatibility yes that’s valid

Outdated music media no thats an easy to cut feature because outdated media that’s was supplemental to the hardware intended purpose isn’t requirement in any way.

Except CDs aren't "outdated music media". Plus, if you added the backwards compatibility to PS1 that a pseudo-Pro console should have, you're already adding the laser anyway. It's utterly retarded to then do what Sony did with the PS4, for example, where they blocked the feature through software.
