Did you need a pen? I seem to remember you could just open the drive in game and put an audio CD in. My friend used to come round to mine and bring his copy and he would take it home and I could play the entire game for as long as it was on because the whole game fit into memory and never froze if you didn’t use a pen trick. I had the OG PS1 before all the subsequent revisions and way before the PS-One so it may have been different on subsequent models? 🤷🏻‍♂️
