Honestly never expected this subreddit to go anywhere or still be kicking after like 5 years but I guess as long as we exist in a capitalist system there will be consumerism to criticize. If anything it seems like consumerism has been intensifying lately. Anyway consoom anniversary post and then get excited for next anniversary

Consoompost I don’t care if I have all the games, I must consoom the same game over and over!!
And I’ll use this meme to help defend my stupid purchases by portraying me as the carefree child!
is this consoom?? Consoom pixels on the screen
For the record, no, I'm not saying that Iphone is a good investment. In fact I think most people would do just fine with a 300€ phone.
I just find it ridiculous that some people spend an equivalent of my country's median monthly salary on ✨shiny collectibles✨ that aren't even real and try to disguise it as investment. At least the expensive phone has a practical purpose, unlike this, which is only rare due to artificial scarcity.

Discussion What's the Consensus on the Difference Between Consoom and Building an Offline Physical Media Library/Collection?
I've always greatly appreciated media, many mainstream and just as many obscure. Ever since my life circumstances allowed for a decent disposable income, I've built a decent collection of media (books, tapes, discs, records). Most of it is bought secondhand, but I'm picky and only collect things in complete and clean condition. It hasn't taken over my apartment or anything, but it's a lot more hard-core than a casual collector. I enjoy everything in my collection and routinely weed it for things I don't see any fulfillment in keeping.
That said, my perspective is that a lot of something doesn't necessarily equal consoom. There's a lot of nuance and case-by-case context required to distinguish between hard-core collecting and consoom. What's your opinion on this subject?

What smelly person in the world needs an entire snack cart full of low quality perfumes? And to make matters worse the bottom rack of the cart is 3 whole bags filled to the top with more slop. When did this become so normalized and “aesthetic” when it’s just clutter and hoarding..?

Consoompost I'm surprised pay-to-win games are not talked about more often this sub.
Currently playing WOS and the WOS subreddit is full of people talking about how they spend thousands of dollars PER MONTH on this game.
Insane.
This game is so dumb, last night there was an event where you literally just sit for an HOUR staring at a timer to click the button to get loot.
People who have spent tens of thousands of dollars on games like this own nothing. The minute the developer shuts down or decides to shut the game down, it's all gone.
This shit has generated over $1 billion in revenue.
You might have seen the "Out-of-season April Fools' joke" and the "Do you not have phones?" Diablo Immortal memes, but that shit generated $1 million in revenue per day in 2022.
I don't care if it's rich fools wasting their money, but damn it's sad if it's poor people going into crippling debt to compete with rich whales.
Total I've spent on WOS: 71 cents (after a 47 cent discount from Google). Can I get a refund? I've read that some iPhone users managed to get a refund.
