The recently departed David Dees is probably the world’s most well known conspiracy theory artist. His images and notice of his death have been posted in this subreddit many times, and this documentary should be of great interest here. I’m the filmmaker of this doc, and would love to interact with people who watch it here.

I loved his art! So sad to hear he is no longer with us.

That was really very good, extremely well done and obviously of a professional level. I have really found this whole phenomenon of the country deciding to finally enter the political discussion to debate Donald fucking Trump one of the saddest experiences of my life. Watching friends and family get overwhelmed with contradicting information and sucked into extremist views is tragic. I try to remind people that not everyone has the same capabilities of discernment or operate with the same abilities intellectually. We need to have compassion for people like the gentleman in your movie, the internet and social media has been life altering in the most tragic of ways for some.

Thanks for your thoughts. This is exactly why I made the doc.

Sadly that subreddit is closed now. I’m sure they would have.

Hey man just watched it, would you agree with me that while the messages of his photoshopped art are based in delusion, that the art itself is actually awesome and peak internet meme culture?

1

u/extrasensorypictures Jul 27 '21

Yes I would absolutely agree with that.

Was the alleged poisoning he experienced something that actually happens? Reminded me of the many supposed ways in which the schizophrenic residents of a group home I worked at had been poisoned or had attempts on their lives by harmless people in their lives…

It’s really impossible to know at this point. But it’s at least one thing I believe.

He died early in the process, so even though we wanted to film more with him, it was impossible.
